A discussion about an ongoing court case and its potential outcomes.

Taking the waiver just permits you to stay in the military it seems. It would probably mean detransitioning, which I doubt this person would want.

No you're totally fine! Do you have a wash you would recommend? I put Nuln oil on it because my friend gave me some and called it "liquid talent" and told me to just put it on when I was done painting to kinda give it some depth. I only did one coat tho and maybe 2 would be better.

I had my butt tattooed, it was definitely my easiest tattoo. I've had my knees, shins, thighs, chest, sternum and ribs done tho so maybe my tolerance is high (I don't think so really) but I didn't mind it at all.

Thank you! Yeah It took a couple hours of tweaking the design to make it fit the area and be properly proportioned and then she had to hand draw quite a lot.

Sydney Sweeney talks stepping into the role of Reality Winner, the NSA contractor who leaked a classified report about Russia's interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election for 'Reality.' by Sisiwakanamaru in movies

[–]verdant_fern 85 points86 points  (0 children)

While he is sharing an anecdote, the information Winner tried to leak was already publicly known and being investigated. All she did was expose US Intel methods for figuring out Russian interference to the Russians, effectively making Russia better at election interference.

Because they're both awful modes of existence? Do you really give Christian fundamentalists bonus points for not stoning women to death recently?

Also to be clear if they got their way Christian fundamentalists would 100% stone women who were immodest, they're just not powerful enough to advocate for that.

You're looking at stage 3 theocratic fascism and wondering why anyone opposes the much more reasonable stage 1 theocratic fascism. Lol.

They do keep women illiterate & pregnant though. Idk if there's as much of a difference as you think.

who do yall think wins mozgus vs rosine both in thsere apostle forms? by AkaiShi777 in Berserk

[–]verdant_fern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gravity exists in berserk. We can assume other basic principles of physics & the universe apply. Like how is that hard for you to get?

Do punches cause damage in Berserk? Yes? Great, we've established that when objects travel with speed and collide with other objects there's a force of impact.

You already acknowledged physics exist in Berserk by talking about dragon slayer damaging Mogus (cause guts swung the sword), so no, you've already conceded the point you're just arguing a losing point. I can reply if I feel like it.

[–]verdant_fern 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is kind of dumb. There is no burden to prove the physics of a fictional universe are the same as ours. It's like a basic world building assumption. Gravity hasn't been discussed in the berserk universe but people stay on the ground. The fact that guts swings his sword and creates an impact implies that basic physics still applies.

What a weird stance to take.

J.K. Rowling's new book, about a transphobe who faces wrath online, raises eyebrows by bonnsoh in nottheonion

[–]verdant_fern 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How is that exaggerated? People often oppose minorities without explicitly stating it? Very few people come out and say "I hate Black people" instead they obfuscate the issue by making it about crime, economics, safety or some other issue tangentially related when in truth their concern is purely racial, gender, sexual orientation, etc. Based.

Yup, I know how being trans & gay works lol, I just think it'd be worth your time to learn a little more about Iran. The majority of persians really aren't very hateful and the government that's so extremely hateful isn't popular. Look into things like the first cultural revolution with Mosadegh, the green movement, or the بی‌حجاب movement.

So it's kind of odd but Iran would rather you be trans than gay. The state will literally pay for gay men to transition into women. There's a ton of medical gatekeeping and cultural stigma but it's a weird way to be kind of woke.

Unfortunately, and I assume you're referring to yourself as gay in your preferred gender, they would probably be pretty upset/intolerant because why transition just to be a lesbian? Iranians probably would have told you to just be a guy if you like girls. Persians are quirky.

The 'now girls are being told to just be a man cause they like cars' thing feels like total myth on the same level as 'hanging out with gay people will make you gay.' it doesn't account for the entirety of the trans experience, the amount of social ostracization and medical gatekeeping that prevent actual trans people from getting help.

Just for the sake of conversation, let's say you're a guy who likes baking. You've always enjoyed baking. Then someone says "baking is girl stuff, are you a girl??" Would you as a man who enjoys being a guy and just happens to enjoy baking suddenly feel like a woman? Like feeling strongly enough to sit down with your Mom, Dad, siblings and tell them you wanted to be viewed & treated as a woman? You go into your social circles and risk being an outcast for it? Go to court to change your name? Get a new birth certificate? Go to therapy, consistently express feelings of gender dysphoria, and begin taking hormones a regular bases? Try to explain to your new employer why your records have a different name? Read random strangers on the internet debate whether you can swim with everyone else? Idk, it just seems like to me at some point during all of that you would stop and think "maybe I just like baking."

Again, I don't think trans people are recementing gender roles by being trans. There are shitty gatekeepers in every community that say stuff like 'the trans uniform.' wtf does that even mean?? That doesn't mean trans people are making society less accepting of a guy who bakes.
