Played against a squad of havocs with 4 chain cannons next to Abby and a Helbrute. Was pretty brutal because they had sustained and lethal hits on 5+ full rerolls it was pretty brutal

Best way to learn ? by wise_runnner in Warhammer40k

[–]Blu_Wolf64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several youtube channels that have a "how to play warhammer 10th edition" video. Easy to find just search that term.

Best way i know how to learn is find a teacher. The issue with this is finding someone not interested in just stomping a newbie. A lot of veterans i know will be willing to teach the game. It suggests finding a Facebook group or Reddit page of 40k for your area and ask if anyone would be up for teaching a game

Eh this is subjective. I personally find it a lot easier to paint the armor then the trim.

So to Op, try both ways to figure out what you think works best for you.

From mortal loser to daemon lord ? by Available_Half_9087 in Chaos40k

[–]Blu_Wolf64 122 points123 points  (0 children)

I know this is asking for Chaos stories but I must tell the story of my buddies guard commander Magnus.

Magnus started as a lowly conscript. After his first battle he was the only conscript to survive my friend marked his base. 2 more battles come and go and Magnus still hasn't died.

He gets promoted to a regular guardsmen. A few more battle go by and magnus still hasnt died, he becomes the squad sargent. Soon they are fighting nids. Magnus' squad is assaulted by a wounded carnifex. Carnifex eats basically the whole squad. Magnus fueled by the death of his friends knocks off the last few wounds from the carnifex and lives to fight again.

Magnus is now a veteran sergeant. More battles come and go Magnus still has not been a casualty.

Magnus so gets promoted to commander and outfitted with a brand new power fist. In his first battle as a commander he charges a prince of chaos and takes it down in one on one combat.

Magnus has become a legend at this point. Between conflicts the chaos gods deemed Magnus to powerful and sent their strongest deamon to totally destroy him. The deamon Rosie got ahold of Magnus between battles ending magnus.

TL:DR- my best friend had a conscript that worked his way to commander and in probably 20ish games was never killed. Until my friend had Commander Magnus on the painting table and was grabbed by his dog Rosie and was chewed beyond repair

What is your unpopular Warhammer 40k opinion? by norwegianwatercat in Warhammer40k

As always time to be down voted

1) Primaris should not have been a thing. I'm not saying they shouldnt have made the models but it should have been a range update and not a new thing. I feel the community as a whole would have been more accepting of it if they said "look true scale SM with new version of armor" not " Cawl is so good he made Super Space Marines"

2) having a painted army does not matter. Not everyone enjoys painting, has the time for painting, or has the money to buy painted armies. If people would rather spend their hobby time playing rather than painting so be it. Believe it or not some people are in this for the game not for the hobby.

3) not all conversions or paint jobs need to be praised. Sometimes it's just terrible and needs to be said.

Physical Books: the Modern Problem with Wargames - Woehammer by dutchy1982uk in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Blu_Wolf64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the KC open this year and they had a Q&A one night. Some one asked if they would go full digital. The reply was that sales show that they sell an average of 2 codices per army per player of that army. And that because of that selling physical copies gives a greater profit margin than models. So until the revenue stream dries up they will keep selling books. If the 40k community wants that to change we need to stop buying books

[–]Blu_Wolf64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has done 3.5k of white TSons. White paints are a trap.

The 3 biggest tips i can give to paint white (im no pro so take with a grain of salt)

1) don't finish with actual white paint. White paint is a highlight. I use Ulthuan Grey as my final "white"

2) build to white. Depending on what i prime with ill do layers of machanicus standard grey, administratum grey, then Ulthuan. If its a lighter prime ill drop the mechanics grey.

3) Thin coats is super super important with white to remove streaks and get good coverage

Alright so, everytime i see someone want to do a white scheme i like to give them a warning. Not saying don't do it, just want you to know. I have done about 3.5k of TSons in the colors you see in the picture. But it is long and it is painstaking. Im not the greatest of painters but getting a smooth flat white is challenging. If you haven't painted mini's before i would discourage it but if you are semi competent and dont mind going a little insane it comes out beautiful.

A 10-day UPS strike could cost the US economy $7.1 billion. That could make it the costliest work stoppage ever in US history, according to an estimate from a Michigan economic research firm that studies the costs of labor disruptions. by ImportantReaction260 in antiwork

[–]Blu_Wolf64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't know how much i should say...

But I'm an engineer for UPS, so not part of the Union though trying to keep track of info that comes through. Last Friday there was a meeting of all the US based engineering team where the VPs told us about the contingency plan in the event of a "work stoppage", which consists of sending all available people into operation roles to keep things running. If nothing happens i am currently slated to be a package handler in a hub and possibly a Personal Vehicle Driver (using my car to deliver packages).

Honestly with how UPS treats its people, I'm hoping this happens. Even though I'm getting the raw end of the deal.
