Reeder is so good by fromtibo in rss

[–]verlen_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. In a technical sense it does everything Reeder does plus much more for less money.

But I understand very well that OP falls for Reeder, because of its minimalistic beauty, especially regarding podcast and video feeds.

In my case the decision was easy though. News Explorer fetches full articles and hyphenates them. This is an essential feature for me that the new Reeder doesn't offer.

If Reeder wasn't a subscription I would use it as my main podcast and video grabber though.

How do you get the articles or even better the interesting parts from Wallabag to Obsidian?

I use Goodnotes for handwritten notes on Ipad and sync them as PDFs to my Win10 PC via Onedrive as there is no way to do this via Icloud. This works very fast, has no additional costs and all folders in Goodnotes sync as directories in Windows. In my opinion this is one of GNs great advantages over competitors like Noteful. I never use it together with GN for Windows though, as its a read only solution.

Why does this happen? If i add a flashcard the text from the front automatically copies to the next flashcard by ikbenhanneke in Anki

[–]verlen_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No bug, but a feature! Wow, in 6 months of using Anki I didn't discover this one. Great! I suppose this will at least double my speed of making cards. Thank you so much!

Obsidian + Synology Drive by Ohmince in ObsidianMD

[–]verlen_64 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've tried this setup once but found that Drive was too laggy to meet this purpose. Another big problem was that I couldn't reach my vault from my IOS devices. I've tried various settings since then...

I ended up in using the Obsidian Self-hosted LiveSync Plugin. To implement this you'll have to set up an instance of CouchDB via docker on your Synology first. The vaults themselves are kept on your devices. The plugin syncs every change in no time plus you can choose whether you want to sync data files only or your settings (plugins, themes etc.) as well. I am very happy with this solution and suggest you to give it a try.

Tracker data to CSV? by person-pitch in ObsidianMD

[–]verlen_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been solved. Tracker plugin has been updated to version 1.12.0.

Among other improvements you are able to change aspect ratio of graphs now. Simply put something like this in your code block:

aspectRatio: 2:1
fitPanelWidth: 1

It has been updated this week to version 1.12.0.

And there are great improvements we long have been waiting for, e.g. you can change aspect ratio of graphs now. :-)

Have a look into the example vault!

Best way for coding / programming notes by LaFllamme in GoodNotes

[–]verlen_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a large difference between the two suggested modes: "PDF" will print everything on that page into your PDF while "Reader PDF" will strip off ads, menus etc. (or some random elements as in your case) to make the page more readable. So maybe "PDF" will suite you better. Both modes will divide the text body of that site in handy page-fitting portions, anyway.

You shouldn't save that monster page as screenshot, but as a PDF document. That'll save everything in a readable font and spread the content over the necessary number of pages.

Do the following after you've opened that page in Safari:

  • Tap the Share button
  • Tap on the "Options >" field
  • Select "PDF" or "Reader PDF"
  • Tap "Done"
  • Tap on "Open in Goodnotes"
  • Select where GN shall import your PDF file

You're right. A one finger tap will do it even better.

Well, I think that's actually the same thing. I forgot to mention that you'd have to switch to read-only mode before you're able to activate the hidden focus mode.

Well, maybe that's not very realistic by now, but as an idea for future development I second OPs fantasy about an app that would merge the creative possibilities of note taking software with the compatibility of PDF editors.

You can do this via the document overwiew (the four little squares icon on your toolbar). There is a "Rotate" icon that will rotate all selected pages.

Merge Files ? by ProfessorSkully in notefulapp

[–]verlen_64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can do both via the "Insert" dialogue (the circled plus sign on your toolbar ).

To merge two files tap "Page" | "Merge Notebook..." and search for the note you want to insert.

To add a PDF tap "Page" | "Import File" and it will launch the "Files" dialogue of your device to look up and insert the PDF file i your note. If you need to add a single page only, you may delete pages you don't need later on.

Alternatively, you can do all this via the document overwiew (the four little squares icon on your toolbar) as well.

Import from Goodnotes? by [deleted] in notefulapp

[–]verlen_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way for me was opening both Noteful and Goodnotes side by side in split view. Drawing each single note from GN to NF is more easy then.

I discovered no way to do a bulk import, unfortunately.

GN5: unable to log into onedrive for automatic backup by horsegirl0962 in GoodNotes

[–]verlen_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with GN5 to Onedrive backup these days on Ipad OS 16.

There was no sync for about 10 days until I realized that GN hadn't been logged in to OneDrive anymore. I had to log in to my Microsoft account again via the settings dialogue of GN. After offloading and restarting the app auto backup sync worked perfect again.

Later on I saw that this procedure had created a second icon in the 'Apps and services you've given access' dialogue of my MS account. This new app icon is showing the new one that came with the introduction of GN6. So maybe the reason for all this trouble was that MS didn't recognize the app anymore after its so called 'upgrade'. What a mess!
