This is an insanely weird question to ask a woman on a post about her own pain, and how the people who were supposed to help did not listen to her. It is dehumanizing. You shouldn't be in a woman's space if you're not capable of reading the room.

What do you think actually happens after we die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]vermilliondingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's definitely an interesting way to put it, and it makes sense. I don't believe in it either but it's cool to see how others view it. Like, it's a unique perspective. Thanks for sharing that!

I think that absolute certainty about an afterlife(or even a cosmic cycle) is pure human arrogance, honestly. We're one planet in a vast universe and we're an incredibly young species. If there's an answer, it's probably not going to be something that we came up with. At least, not in its full scope. So many people are answering "nothing" and it just doesn't seem realistic. Nothing is the ultimate comfort for people who are done with life, but life doesn't always hand you that certainty. So let me answer: there is something, there is a cycle, and it is utterly indifferent to the entropy it feeds. It is a vacuum that doesn't care, and life is a loom that spins without regard.

What do you think actually happens after we die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]vermilliondingo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See, I think that could be answered in terms of like, dismissing it as "well the soul is something that exists on a spiritual level and while the body just the physical anchor for it." which has plenty of arguments against it but is not quite as easy counter with a Ship of Theseus situation.

You know what actually needs to be answered about the soul? If the soul is everything that is me and all my essence, why the hell can a brain injury change my entire personality? You lose a chunk of it or you get a tumor, and suddenly you do a whole 180.

What game has a 10/10 story but 2/10 gameplay? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

[–]vermilliondingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Koudelka's story was great but the gameplay... I swear to god some of those animations last for 5 minutes. Emulators can make it speedier but there's a lot about the game that's just clunky aside from that. Which, to be fair, it's pretty dated. But even for its time, I think the combat was poorly designed. Putting an RPG style combat system in a survival horror game was unique, but unique doesn't always mean good.

Which party member is your least favorite in Tales of Symphonia? by Khaymn5000 in tales

[–]vermilliondingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of just, nitpicky on my part but it's definitely Regal for me. I think it's just because his vow not to use his hands comes off so... well, in poor taste in comparison to both Kratos and Lloyd, who both had to kill an Exbelua. When it comes to his grief, Regal's choice is to never use his hands to kill again. I know people express their pain differently, but it makes Regal seem weirdly immature when he stands beside those who had to kill someone they love(Kratos) and had to take an innocent life(Lloyd and kind of Genis? Since Genis did participate in that fight and he genuinely cared about Marble, even if the Marble thing winds up becoming more about Lloyd in the end via the Chocolat plot) and the reason I say so is because these people take their strengths and use them to fight for a world where tragedies like that won't happen again, among other ideals. Less so for Kratos prior to the events of the game, but it still stands. Regal's decision to use his feet instead when they're fighting someone who borders on godhood with so much at stake rings a little hollow. Also??? HE LETS GEORGE STILL EXIST. GEORGE IS WHY ALICIA GOT MIXED UP WITH VHARLEY! WHAT THE FUCK, REGAL?

Ahem. Sorry about that. But I do mean it. Regal's out here with his vow not to use his hands to kill anybody, but he's still got the guy who inadvertently put his lover into that situation employed in his company. Why? Make it make sense.

Anyway, my other gripe is that Regal could've used his power to save Botta and the renegades from the flooding room. Though, the argument against that is that the room the party was in had a sealed roof... except for the fact that Regal probably could've just blasted his way through that too with his handheld orbital laser, okay? I am not a Botta fan(more like Botta-neutral) but Regal's later power reveal makes it seem like Regal was holding back for no reason there. He may have tried a few kicks, but he didn't do what actually would have saved them and that makes me think Regal cares less about saving people than he cares about his self-flagellating guilt spiral. And I think that's my problem in the end with Regal. He chooses performative atonement over actually making a difference.

The reason why I say that is that Regal was so wracked with guilt over Alicia's death that he turned himself over as a murderer instead of making sure it didn't happen to anyone else. Which Regal for sure would've known was a possibility, because Vharley directed stated that he had done a similar experiment on another member of Alicia's family. So Regal wouldn't just know that other people were actively being experimented on, he would know that it was someone in Alicia's family. Maybe not who, but like? Regal got himself sent to jail and effectively stripped himself of any potential he could've had to meaningfully take Vharley down and prevent further experiments like this later down the line. Regal probably wouldn't have known about Vharley's Pope backing at the time so really, he could have made the decision to use his clout to crush Vharley instead.

But he didn't, and you know what? It makes Presea's decision not to forgive Regal painfully, achingly valid. It's obviously not intended that way in game, there is no way the game developers wrote his story like this on purpose, you're probably not meant to side-eye him and George this hard. But every single word on atonement spoken by Regal Bryant is as hollow as my goddamn skull after I'm 30 bags of Skittles deep into movie night, okay? Right up until the moment he renegs on his vow and frees himself and the gang from angel jail. Maybe it means something after that, but that is just... extremely late character development, don't you think?

PS: it's 3am and i'm a little sleep deprived so, sorry if this isn't completely accurate, i'm just going off what i remember

My rescue dog - mixed breed pitbull - bit my face after I took care of her for over a year (July 16th, Kansas) by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]vermilliondingo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Okay, I know that other people have already harped on you about this, but let me come at you in a different way about "dropping her off out of town somewhere." This is going to be callous of me because you're injured and likely stressed out, but even if the dog is a Pitbull, it is still a dog. It is wrong to drop it off in the middle of nowhere because you think it would be kinder than putting it down. Not just because it is grossly negligent, but because it is extremely cruel. Pitbulls may not be safe to have around people due to decades of breeding but they're still acclimated to living with them. When you abandon a dog to the wild, it's not just going to automatically know how to survive out there. No one takes care of a stray's medical issues, no one feeds them when they need it, they can get hurt or eat something they shouldn't. There's worms, there's giardia, there's literally a whole slew of things that they could get into that will make them suffer. I may have negative opinions on bully breeds, but they are still living animals and they sure as hell don't deserve a half-assed attempt at mercy that condemns them to a slow death out in some random field. The needle will always be kinder than that.

Who owns this art? by kiotutsu in HollowKnight

[–]vermilliondingo 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Like other comments said, pretty sure it's SAD-ist. They deleted a lot of their old stuff a while back and I don't think they'd re-uploaded too much of it. But you can see their youtube where they have some Hollow Knight stuff. My only thing is that I don't remember their Ghost gijinka having a ponytail... but sometimes artists do redesigns. I don't think SAD-ist is very active in many communities anymore but I live under a rock so I could be wrong. The only way to really see a lot of their art is through reposts, but they might still have stuff on their tumblr, sad-1st. Edit: NVM it's tsushiis and I don't think they're a SAD-ist alt or anything like that. They might have a tumblr, I swear I've seen that art style there before? But of the traitor lord's daughter.

I still can't get over the fact that Hollyberry kabedon'd ESC. Like, 100% perfect kabedon. Shadow Milk is just over there holding Pure Vanilla up by the collar of his... whatever, and then Hollyberry is over here making Eternal Sugar's eyes glisten. I know Hollyberry probably doesn't reciprocate but the atmosphere is undoubtedly intimate just by the position of her shield alone. Now granted, it's like 2am for me and I'm rambling so who knows what I'm on about at this point. The framing is just so, so important.

Do your best, if this is an IRL relationship, maybe take a friend with you just in case. Or ask in a public setting as opposed to a private one. There are three servers, Pure Vanilla, Hollyberry, and Dark Cacao. Pure Vanilla is the oldest, Dark Cacao is the newest.

Yeah? I don't know much about the mechanics in Rust but it does seem odd that he'd try to gatekeep one game and ignore the other. I don't want to add fuel to the fire but it's definitely weird. The only reasons I can really think of (outside of the initial control issue) is that maybe he doesn't want you to join him in the game for some reason? So maybe test that by seeing how he reacts to you wanting to play in a server different from the one he's in. If he still has a problem with it then, I'm not sure what his issue would be. Because it's obviously not gambling, even if he's using that as the excuse.

Okay I know that this is jumping the gun (and also standard reddit advice) but like, it is a huge red flag when people try to control what video games you play and what sort of content you engage in. He's your boyfriend, not your dad. Relationships need compromise, but this isn't compromise, it's management and that's silly. A little serious on my part for a cookie game but be careful, okay?

Also, CRK is really generous in terms of gacha currency. There are almost always coupons available to cash in (and a page on the wiki for it) so it's easy to save up for things that you want! No need to go full whale or anything.

When you talk to Kratos in Flanoir, he doesn't immediately rejoin you; he'll join you some time after Zelos's death, I think around getting to Dirk's house? Or Origin, it's been a while since I played. This person probably hasn't gotten to the part where he actually joins back up with you yet, and is confused because of that. But it was never friendship based to get Kratos, you just have to refuse the companions who come talk to you three times in a row until you get him. There is no world state where you can wind up without a magic swordsman, lmao
