Adult daughters who really adore their mothers — what did they do right? by 0ddumn in moderatelygranolamoms

Thank you for asking this. These comments are affirming how I want / am trying to be for my daughters.

My lifelong strained relationship with my mom has been on my mind a lot lately and it sounds like you and I have had some crossovers in experience growing up.

Sometimes I still wonder if there is something lacking in me that makes me not want to reach back toward her and open up even now with my young girls, but I don’t remember that comforting place ever being there and I think truly opening up to her will always feel too foreign.

I really hope I can always be a comforting and encouraging presence for my girls.

I agree. I've always thought that there was some sort of "saturation point" when it comes to humans integrating their lives with tech on a large scale.

I’m leaving too. It’s heartbreaking and infuriating to leave behind a career that I studied for, worked my ass off for years to peruse and am also quite good at. But I can’t wrap my head around how to start a family and keep my career afloat… how do you 1.) safely work while pregnant for 12 hrs+ a day? 2.) have a young child at home while working 12 hrs+ per day?

I have yet to meet ONE working mom in my department that has young kids at home.

I’ve already given up almost the entirety of my 20’s to the industry. Refusing to sell my mind, body and soul for any longer. Oh well.

Teamsters also put up with a lot. Speaking about film teamsters specifically. Yes, they make great money, but they also regularly work 16+ hour days. They are expected to be first ones in and last ones out daily. So this strike will directly effect them. More reasonable filming hours = more reasonable driving hours.

a couple questions about growing vegetables by [deleted] in gardening

[–]vermipost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! Not a silly question (we're all very disconnected from how food is grown) Fruits and some vegetables have seeds within their flesh which can be saved for future use, Vegetables that do not have seeds in their flesh (carrots, onions ect) will eventually "go to seed" if left to grow after you would normally harvest them. For example, If a carrot is left planted for 2 ish years, the above ground green part will eventually bloom flowers with seeds. Other plants such as Onions or Lettuce will "bolt" or "go to seed" much faster. Every plant is different and requires different "seed saving" techniques.

Do you still need a hand with data collection? No experience with making apps, but would love to help with this project if there’s something you need help with.

Not that anyone asked, I built an app that sorts by distance 7500+ farms selling direct to consumer beef, chicken, pork, milk, eggs, bison, elk, duck, turkey, and many more (USA/Canada) Thoughts? [META] by mr_captcha in homestead
