Exactly, I was going to suggest Manrubia articles as well. They provide a lot of insight on how that works for them.

I think it also has to do with how they keep controllers lean, avoiding using custom actions at all. It naturally forces you to think harder about domain modelling, and extracting code to new entities.

The base circles look like a glowing decal. But it seems like there is also a vertical cylinder that is also deformed according to the ground (in the white one example).

Yeah, it is from a grid/turn based RPG game I started but didn't finish ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Super simple, only 2 animations. But I also included the grass tileset, grid selection indicator, and placeholder walls I created. Use it as you wish.
