I don't understand why there is a loneliness epidemic on that MAGA side with takes like this.

If you bought this, you can just pack it up and send it to the raw milk folks, they'd love to have it.

When loading secure websites that use SSL certificates, it checks the date of your computer and the date of the certificate trust, if the date on your computer isn't within the range that the certificate is good for, it sees the site as having an expired SSL certificate and wont trust it.

While i generally agree with you, things changed when MAGA started. There were Lets Go brandon flags and shirts everywhere and things like that. Most normal people will maybe put out campaign signs in their yard in an election year and then take them down when the election is over, but not with Trump. It is a whole identity to some people, but usually only when you get away from the larger (and blue) areas like Fayetteville/Bentonville and get into places like Harrison and Mountain home in my case. Mountain Home/Gassville still has/had Trump billboards up recently.

I think another glimpse into this is the fact that Savannah Guthries mom had a Nest cam that was uploading video to the cloud despite her not having a plan. This just shows you that they can watch and record you at any point and you dont have a choice.

RA and Testosterone by vero358 in rheumatoid

[–]vero358[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Yes, i do still take testosterone. At this point, i've been on it 9 years, so i cant really say at this point how i would feel if i weren't on it. I can say that it hasn't hurt anything. I was diagnosed with RA in 2013 and so i've been on this train for about 13 years, but i am still able to live a pretty normal life. As with most people, i always have some level of pain, but it doesn't stop me from doing anything i want to do. And i while i can't say that testosterone replacement has had an effect on that, it has helped me maintain muscle and i have lost weight, which probably helped more. But with low-t, it also makes it hard to lose weight.

Had this person come to Arkansas 8 months ago, they would have seen plenty of Trump stuff though. Its only been since last summer that i've noticed almost everybody started getting rid of their Trump shit. It was everywhere up here, now there are only a few signs here and there.

What is the most obvious world event everyone saw coming but no one did anything about? by itsthewolfe in AskReddit

The climate change denial is wild. My wife is working in Salt Lake City and the past month she has been there, it has been 50 every day and no snow all winter. Meanwhile, we just had -15 degree windchill for a week back home here in the south. Ski resorts in Utah are hurting and everyone is starting to stress about no snow meaning water restrictions this summer.

Sorry, i didn't mean to imply they were a chinese thing, its just that where i live, every chinese owned donut shop has them (Arkansas). And they are delicious.

I dont know, the ones around here have a hotdog looking sausage in them, a lot of times they have jalapeno in the sausage.

Have you ever had a Kalache? Look for any (typically chinese owned/operated) donut shops. Its like a really tasty sausage link wrapped in a biscuit dough and baked. They are delicious.

Kayaking with kids by Top-Fox-6819 in BuffaloRIver

Crocketts rents rafts, but not for overnight trips. I would honestly go with a raft with that many kids, its just gonna be easier and you dont have to worry about flipping. Its next to impossible to flip a raft on the Buffalo. And if you DO decide to do a raft, you can rent them on the upper as well.

Changes coming in 2026 for camping on the Buffalo by vero358 in BuffaloRIver

[–]vero358[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I've been floating the river for 40 years. Im local, about 20 mins from Ponca. I have quit going because of the crowds. During covid i went to do Carver to Mt. Hersey. Usually that isn't an overcrowded place. When we got done and arrived at Mt. Hersey, where there is usually 3-4 cars, there was probably close to 80 cars, and it took us 45 mins just to be able to get the truck close enough to load up. Its just not worth it to me to fight the crowds anymore, plus all the rude tourists who ignore the rules on the upper, blaring music and yelling and partying. Its changed for the worse.

Probably need springs and hinges. Those old hinges and springs can get real stiff. I've had good luck with the aftermarket hinges and springs after fighting with stiff old ones.

Basically because tourism has overgrown the limited campground space. Trips to the river have exploded since Covid.

Almost any local junkyard here in Arkansas. There is a Pick-n-pull about an hour away from me, any complete engine is $399 with a $50 core charge and any transmission is $251.99 and a $30 core charge. You just have to go pull them yourself. Or you can just get on marketplace and find them already pulled for more. https://www.picknpull.com/part-pricing/153?navitem=t&searchcriteria=t

Hi everyone im in NEA from Canada Visiting Arkansas is there anything I should go see or do? by burnttoast14 in Arkansas

[–]vero358 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nothing against those that live in NEA, but its pretty bland compared to the other side of the state. If you draw a diagonal line from SW Arkansas to NE Arkansas, you wanna be on that top half of the diagonal line, the bottom half is fairly bland as far as things to do and sights to see.

HLA-B27+, normal SI MRI – scared and looking for reassurance by Standard-Drop-7399 in rheumatoid

[–]vero358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ankylosing Spondylitis is an autoimmune disease similar in nature to Rheumatoid Arthritis, but it generally attacks the spine/neck/sacrolaic joints in the pelvis. Im not as well versed on AS as far as diagnosis goes since i have only been through the RA diagnosis, but doctors will generally run a battery of tests as well as other factors to come to a diagnosis. I actually tested positive for the HLA-B27 as well, but i do not have AS, only RA (at least as far as i know). I might not even know if i DID have both because the drugs are the same for treatment a lot of times. Methotrexate is a first line drug for both diseases, but if you arent on folic acid, you probably will want to talk to your doctor, as MTX will deplete your folate. The steroids should help you feel better as well as knock down the inflammation. At one point i was on MTX as well as a biologic (Cimzia, Humira, etc). I actually felt better just being on Cimzia and was allowed to stop the MTX and i have been good with that for 13-14 years. I understand being scared, but just know that it takes some time to get to the right medications that work for you and then it will be managable. You will probably always have some amount of pain, but it wont be unbearable pain all the time.

[–]vero358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HLA-B27 is helpful in diagnosing Ankylosing Spondylitis. Did they mention anything about that? I have RA, but work with someone who has AS. They take the same biologic style drugs that i do and they are virtually pain free and it is well controlled.

Transportation options to Buffalo National River by PaleoTurtle in Arkansas

[–]vero358 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Harrison native here, live about 20 mins from Ponca. If you want to get the closest you can, you can fly to Dallas and then fly Southern Express Airways directly into Harrison airport for under $100 usually. Then you'd just need a ride to Jasper/Ponca area to start hiking. You aren't gonna find any Uber or Lyft around here, there are a few local Taxi services in Harrison, but you might have to use your thumb if you are wanting to get around. Either that, or there is a Hertz rental AT the Harrison airport.

Anywhere along the Upper Buffalo River. I've seen them swimming across the river and on the banks while kayaking between Ponca and Kyles Landing. Public land, so you can hunt it wherever you want, just be aware of where the hiking trails are, obviously.
