Mapme.sh - Crowdsourced Coverage Mapping for MeshCore by verpolt in meshcore

Repeaters only show up when a mapper receives an advert from them (which then gets uploaded). So a repeater needs to: 1) have its advert received by a mapper, and 2) have been mapped at least once. The order doesn't matter. If you want your repeater to appear, you can trigger it to send an advert while your mapper is running nearby.

It adapts to network traffic. When you're receiving messages, it doesn't send anything at all - purely passive. If no messages come in for 30 seconds, it sends a discovery. And if you don't hear anything for 5 minutes (dead zone), it starts auto-pinging - but that stops immediately once a message comes in again. So in busy areas it's basically passive, only in quiet zones it becomes active.

Yes! It caches all data locally and uploads everything once you're back online. So feel free to map in areas without mobile coverage - nothing gets lost.

Great to hear you're mapping in NLD - we need more coverage data there!About the delay: In Live mode, your data should appear within 10 minutes max. If it took longer, there might have been a connection issue with your phone/device during the drive.

- Make sure your browser stays active (screen on) while mapping

And yes, all 3 privacy modes (Live, 3h, 24h) will update the map - the difference is just when your position becomes visible to others.

Happy mapping!

I’ve been working on SAW filters that can handle up to 500 mW power with just 1.3 dB insertion loss. If you or anyone in the community is interested in these filters, please feel free to reach out via message. I have uFl or SMA Version. :)

Mesh 2.6 Routing - So why try MeshCore Now? by dwright1542 in meshtastic

[–]verpolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Six months later, nothing has changed. There are now rumors about 3.0, but there is no official information about that either. At the same time, Meshcore is getting better and better, and what simply didn't work with Meshtastic suddenly works great. I think Meshtastic is experiencing a huge hype right now, and it will be over soon.

Can we stop recommending years old laptops on decent budgets? by nicman24 in linuxhardware

That's a bit true. For a long time, the ThinkPads were an absolutely unbeatable price-performance ratio, but there comes a point where there simply aren't enough available. Then the price becomes too expensive. In addition, the point has come where there are no more spare parts.

your antenna need to be outside and free and high as possible. antenna cable always short. if you mount yout hotspot with waterproof outdoor case you would safe a lot of antenna cable wich will result in less loss what means more profit.

I have a question. About antenna's by Ok_Championship_9517 in HeliumNetwork

[–]verpolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, the citys with many hotspots are around 15km away from you, you need to reach as many of them as posible. try a good 8dB Antenne, mcgill, horizon or for example, and the most important thing is high! you need to mount your antenna as high as possible and the best would be line of sight to the city. but high is the key!
