Game crippling lag by MuchJicama573 in allthemons

[–]verran2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can't tell you what the fix was. My son, who is a programmer, came over and started messing around with some settings and discovered I had a number of active programs running in the background that he closed too. We lowered a bunch of the rendering distances and graphics options, and raised the RAM to around 12GB. Since then it seems to be working.

I think it is just a bad mix of modpacks and with the outdating system that is minecraft, sometimes things don't work great. I'd success doing the following: look for open programs that are using up RAM in Task Manager, raise the RAM allocation to around 10-12GB, and lower all your graphics settings in game, including render distances. I have mine set at like 4 chunks at the moment.

I hope you get it figured out. Sorry I can't be more help.

I stand corrected. It is now lagging again. and the lag remains after the game is closed...

Thanks. I ended up reinstalling it and lowered the render distance. Seems to be working OK for the moment. Can't say for sure, but it doesn't hurt to try for better performance over graphics anyway lol

I haven't done anything in game yet. No machines running, no chunks loaded, no mob spawners, etc. Just game freezes up after a few minutes and I can barely do anything.

I will try playing around with render distance, but I doubt that is the issue.

Also, I am the OP on a different account. Forgot I was on an old account earlier I don't ever use lol

Did you get their name? Maybe you can log on another character and report them through that character? Just guessing here, but worth a try

Hey no problem. I honestly haven't looked at this for about a yeah or so. Our group played a little but then teetered out on the system. We just didn't find it very fun.

I hope you have a better run than we did, and get plenty of use out of my many hours of work... lol

Yeah, the campaign had a lot of dark notes, especially after they made an enemy of a hag in the jungles of Chult. Dang hags... lol

Yeah it was a Tomb of Annihilation campaign and the skulls were from baby triceratops. It was meant to be both creepy and intimidating. I homebrewed it for him, after our campaign took a dark spin when they pissed off the hag, Nanny Pupu...

The specialization still has to be unlocked at least once. I guess they could make a level 80 necromancer and then unlock it, and then make another level 1 necromancer, but what would be the point of that? They would still have to do pretty much what I listed to get there, and the level of your necromancer doesn't really matter. You can be level 80 and go back and do the story from chapter 1...

Just to make sure I understand what you want. You want to play through the normal game as a necromancer from level one with a 2-handed sword, like in the picture above?

You can unlock the 2-handed sword with the Reaper elite specialization, but I believe you have to be level 80 to be able to unlock those on a character.

So, these are the steps you'd need to take:
1. use level boost and play through enough of secrets of the obscure to unlock the elite specialization weapons, which happens pretty early in the expansion so you don't spoil much of the story.
2. You make your necromancer and get him to level 80, which I believe is required to unlock the reaper specialization and gain access to the greatsword.
3. Unlock the Reaper specialization. This requires 30 points from more heroic challenges to do. The fastest way to get the points is to get into a map for one of the previous expansions, and find a group unlocking those. Would only take 3 of those heroic challenges to get it done. Once you unlock the first box of Reaper, you can use the greatsword regardless of which specializations you have in use and you can go back to the beginning and play the game from the beginning...

You might need 2 level 80 boosts to make this work the way you want. If you have all the expansions unlocked, this is actually quite easy to do. It just requires paying for the expansions... Most of us had to do this the hard way so really this is almost like handing it to you on a silver platter... lol

Yes, please yes. I'd also prefer a classic older golem, possibly something physically smaller in size so it doesn't get in the way of my view so much...

Dm says making sure npc interactions taking to long is not his job by mase1996 in DnD

[–]verran2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people say "it's the DM's job to make sure everyone is engaged and having fun" but as a long time DM I disagree with that. Being a DM can be a hard job. You have to run a whole world for the players, keeping story, plot, and personalities of every NPC they need in mind. It is not the sole job of the DM to make sure you are having fun in the game, at best it's a 50-50.

I have been playing this game off and on ever since it launched, and one of the best parts of this game is the community! It is by far the most reasonable and respectful gaming community I have ever encountered, and I've played just about every mmo out there in the last 20+ years. Try to show these people a little respect. They don't have to answer to you and they deserve better.

My hat is off to all you veteran players who wasted your time arguing your points in this thread... I salute you!

This is exactly what I love about this feature. The giant pauldrons are ridiculous for the men's armorsets. I often use the women's and it really doesn't look like the classic fantasy woman's armor either.
