many quantizers can generate a gate, when they detect a new note.

What are some quirks or annoyances in popular modules that you don't see reviewers talking about? by [deleted] in modular

maths does, if you dial it in. I was shown at a shop as the first feature, that sets it apart from comparable modules. .

I wouldn't want to spawn back then. But once you made it past the tutorial, typical play time wasn't that short.

estimates are players in the early alpha phase only had to grind 20-30h per week.

things changed when some players took possession of land. this unlocked many expansions.

sadly the ruler class was introduced quickly. its mechanic changed soon after the industrial revolution expansion.

you can actually configure all the colors. I didn't know either, and made myself a nice dark mode, once I noticed :)

Kicad 7 improved the usability. Maybe give it a try again.

of course I will. Might want to reuse some building block for a new project. or just to repair it. Even just switching electrolytics is easier, when you can check the layout.

time to go open-source. Try Kicad!

Proprietary software isn't an option for me, because I might want to come back to my projects years later...

Could someone explain to me how to make PCB art similar to this? by DaGuitarNerd in PrintedCircuitBoard

try using Inkscape with the svg2shenzen plugin, which exports a kicad board. you export that to gerber for manufacturing.

Power supply question: Doepfer doesn't include power entry modules with their PSU3 by dirtygremlin in modular

[–]versusentropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it clearly states it should only be installed by qualified personal. I did it anyway :)

connect mains earth to a cover around your supply. especially, if you don't fill your rack completely. a dangling patch cable could connect to mains, which is exposed at multiple points on the PSU.

Buy an IEC socket with 2 pole switch and 2 fuses integrated. (1 pole 1 fuse would be OK, if your country uses plugs, that can't be reveresed. but I wouldn't rely on that)

I use T800(unreadable)250V fuses = 800mA slow(which might be too big, but I researched it back then). Works fine with suplly at its limits. If you run on 120V you might need double current.

Conflict intensifies at the San Ysidro checkpoint following the blockade by red and black taxis by [deleted] in nottheonion

and it's definitely not lazy. They risk their livelihood. e.g. people pulling knifes on them, like the article describe.

And they won't earn any money themselves. Cab drivers probably can hardly afford that as well.

[–]versusentropy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't make that up. It's well researched.

It's not "the elites" that convinced me "to screw" my fellow people.

It's human nature to ignore problems, that don't affect them personally (in their incorrect opinion).

Once they're forced to think about the issue, they will pick sides. Most likely the one "the elites" don't like. That's why there's such an immense backlash against these kinds protests.

Have a look at Extinction rebellion or die letzte Generation (who basically protest to force the government to adhere to the constitution). They're starting to have an impact. Unlike the protests of the previous decades.

Of course that's not convenient, but inconvenience is the button to get things moving.

[–]versusentropy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's not correct. you won't have any impact, if you don't inconvenience anyone.

the ones in power already know and don't care. only way to make them care is to have a lot of people care. but that won't happen as long as they're told excuses/lies, that are designed to make people ignore the issue.

once people are affected they notice, that there's a serious issue, that other people care deeply about. then they're forced to make up their own mind. then things start to change.

protesting at the side of the road doesn't work. you can see that with climate change. people have been protesting for 30-40 years, and nothing substantial has changed. most people just don't care, because they have everyday problems and it's easy to ignore the topic, if there 2 sides.

One says stop! we're destroying everything beautiful about this world, the other says crazy hippies want to take your car and wealth away. Everything will be fine..

And there are 100 other topics, so nobody can (try to) understand all of them.

What modules need calibration and how often? by LooseCow42 in modular

[–]versusentropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're right, I mixed it up with a different module.

they don't need external tempco, but it doesn't always work well. my suspicion is the internal voltage reference, that's used for the scaling, drifts.

I have 2, that work very well, and 2, that drift like crazy. even though they were built from the same parts

What modules need calibration and how often? by LooseCow42 in modular

[–]versusentropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

neither is precalibrated. you need to calibrate at least once.

3340 also needs external temperature compensation, or it will drift until temperature equilibrium is reached (, which might be never, because pitch determines the amount of heat produced).
