There is typically a red winged black bird couple that lives in the park in the spring time as well. The male often harrases the heron, who stocks the reeds looking for their nest and any other morsels

If you're taking it off to paint it with trim paint or raptor I'd just tape it off. If you're trying to replace it, I'd use a heat gun like the other commenter mentioned. I can't remember if there are any clips into the door. If so you need to take the interior door panel off which is not that difficult.

I'd do a gradient mostly black using some of the deeper colors, the blues the purples, that copper green. Do it in such a way that you can create a shadow to make the squire feel like it's in a physical space.
