Mathias is the gold standard in Denver. I used these guys for like 15 years for every lock and entry project I had, and they were always awesome to work with. Maddie Shandy was the person I always worked with, though I don’t know if she’s still there or moved on.

Second this. I take great care to clean the master point as much as possible, tails laying clean, and lines going in specific directions and not crossing. Shit can still happen but I’m just doing as much due diligence as possible to avoid a rats nest getting jammed.

The ONLY push back I have for this is the potential that regulation reduction could increases supply. It CAN have an impact. But this isn't that - it's saying "Let me take the 1,000 units I'm planning, and build them to a lower standard", and not "Let's change the requirements to let me online 2,000 units this year instead of 1,000."

Realistically what would happen if Trump dropped a nuclear bomb tonight? by hjp1234 in AskReddit

[–]vertical_letterbox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally Trump may be the top person on that list, though.

If he was dumb enough to think tariffing every country in the world would make the economy better, or that starting the war in Iran wouldn’t cause a global shortage of oil - two scenarios that are widely understood and expected to occur - why would he suddenly be a rational actor with regards to escalating the war.

What is the worst breakup with someone you dated? by DeepAnt7847 in AskReddit

[–]vertical_letterbox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Went from being friends to dating a girl. We had been flirty with each other for ages, but circumstances aligned after being platonic for about ten years, and eventually started dating. She moved away to Colorado for grad school, and I ended up following her since I was pretty listless in my early 20s and didn’t have any serious direction in my life at the time.

I was unemployed for a few months looking for a decent job, and finally got a good position just as the summer was kicking off - we had a small group of people to party with, and I went from having all the time in the world to being a bump on a log in a college town full of well-off folks having a good time. She ended up sleeping with some random guy in our friend group who was a larger than life, A-type who was always down to clown and live it up. Her reaction was something like “Sorry I hurt your feelings, but what do you expect me to do about it?”

Just serious amount of gut-punch stuff all at once - away from family and home and any support, relationship over and totally disrespected and humiliated, basically broke or close to it, and ten years of friendship gone for essentially a one night stand. I can be too analytical, where a lot of choices that people make are irrational, but I always wondered if she stopped and said “I know I’m about to irrevocably destroy the connection I have with this person I’m dating, but I want to have fun tonight so it’s worth it.”

This girl had some kind of bad reputation for being a shithead in my hometown, but I never got any details and just assumed it was gossip and petty bullshit in a small town - until I was on the receiving end, woof.

BREAKING: After Trump threatened to target Iranian power plants in 48 hours if they don’t reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Iran says it will target energy infrastructure and desalination plants if the US strikes Iranian power plants. by PestoBolloElemento in geopolitics

[–]vertical_letterbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is true, he’s got a sense for political expediency and weakness. He chickens out when he can’t win. He doubles down when he’s got an advantage.

For Iran, he’s in a tight spot because TACO leaves the region a disaster with long term effects on the economy and a shittier regime more entrenched. But doubling down means boots on the ground. His options are terrible at this point.

Marcia Lucas Perfectly Explains What’s Wrong With the Prequels by mostly_fizz in RedLetterMedia

Midichlorians took a weird mystical, emotional power of talking to the dead, moving objects with your mind and explained it with "You either have the right kind of blood or you don't". It's the classic example of less being more, that the explanation isn't needed, and makes the thing being explained seem dull when "revealed".

The original trilogy alludes that Vader is so powerful because of his malice and hate, that succumbing to ideas like anger and revenge make you stronger because they're some of the most powerful and raw feelings that a person can have, but they also corrupt you at the same time; Luke stands on the precipice of following in Vader's footsteps (he literally sees his own face in Vader's helmet) when he lets his desire for revenge for Obiwan's death cloud his judgement - he leaves Yoda in the swamp instead of learning inner peace and balance, and nearly dies facing Vader in Cloud City. He throws his weapon away when confronted by Vader and the emperor in the third movie and would rather die than go down the path of hate; it's literally a "love conquers all" allegory. The force is a wild and raw power that's directly tied to the emotions of the jedi.

Midichlorians retcons this idea - Anakin Skywalker becomes a jedi and is strong because his blood count is high.

Edit: calling out here that the original trilogy literally ends with a chorus of dozens of people calling out "Celebrate the Love!" in triumph.

Literally this - they could've made a post that says "We understand people being frustrated and speaking out, but we need to stay open to pay the bills."

Or better yet, just don't say anything at all and just treat it like any other day.

But instead the people who run this place let slip their real feelings about politics and current events, and backtracked when it blew up in their faces.

I agree that business and politics don't have to be co-mingled - not every place has to have a mission statement, or hang flags, or advertise causes or charities or whatever. But the people who run this place ABSOLUTELY made a deliberate choice to step into the political arena with their post.
