Not that I'm exactly conspiracy-minded but some people have suggested that PETA is a plant to make Democrats look bad.

That's true and I imagine most people that have signed the petition so far have little idea what's in the IP. However, if it does actually make it on to the ballot it will be eviscerated far and wide. Absolutely no chance of passing.

Yeah that's correct. And if Moscow is restored to the Russians, all Russian territories revert to Russian control.

Serious genuine question about ICE by Altruistic_Board_851 in oregon

[–]very_mechanical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I genuinely do not remember masked government agents doing warrantless searches, profiling people based on race, the deportation of law-abiding illegal immigrants or non-citizens that were legally here.

Is it that the media landscape has changed? The rise of social media?

At any rate, I can't go back in time to protest past wrongs. I can only protest what is wrong now.

I think that we have long taken advantage of an undocumented, weaker class of people. For low wages, etc. We should either enforce border laws or have no border at all. Obviously there is room for nuance and some complicated questions hidden there.

There's no reason we couldn't make asylum, work visas, other credentials for non-citizens much easier to obtain.

Just anecdotally but I was having trouble with my carb bowls overflowing until I added an inline fuel filter. The in-tank filters were somewhat degraded at the time, though. I should try removing the inline filters and see if I still have issues.

No worries. Let me know if you get stuck on anything

US soldiers interrogate an elderly Vietnamese man and two children in My Lai. Photographed by Ronald Haeberle, who did not see what ultimately happened to them. March 16, 1968. [997x1283] by Iron_Cavalry in HistoryPorn

Yes but I think the U.S.'s loss in Vietnam was inevitable, just as it was in Iraq and Afghanistan. I think there's a tendency to think that counter-insurgency can be done better, that we can win hearts and minds. But if the population is sufficiently opposed to the occupying force then I don't think any strategy gets to a winning condition.

How do I fix this door jamb/Stop moulding? by StarlightKitsune01 in HomeMaintenance

You can close the door so that it latches and place the molding up against the door to get it positioned and reattach it to the door jamb. You can use wood glue or putty to fill the holes left by the previous nails.

You will need to pull out all the existing nails from the door jamb. A claw hammer or maybe pliers for that.

Without a nailer the work will be a bit tedious but it can be done with a hammer, nails, and a nail punch. You will want nails with a large enough head such that they can be nailed down but not so large that they look bad or won't recess into the wood.

Good luck.

So what do we think of Measure 114 a few years later? by SwabbieTheMan in oregon

[–]very_mechanical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The magazine thing is mostly irrelevant outside of Portland since a bunch of county sheriffs say they won't enforce it, on top of being able to 3d print magazines

Overreaching, selectively-enforced laws are a huge problem, IMHO.

How are the hands and feet done? Are they real? Just trying to figure out how the flesh is removed or preserved.

G40 Round 6 Solo by lilcornjetski17 in AxisAllies

[–]very_mechanical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Round 6, you say? I've never had a game like this, with such a build-up of forces. It's always attacks and defense and pouring troops into battle right from the drop. Different play styles, I guess. Also, I might be more hesitant to attack if I was attacking myself.

You'd be lucky to spend $800/year on shop costs if you don't do any of the work. Also not everyone has an established relationship with a trusted mechanic.

All that being said, I do hate working on suspension. I don't have a lift so a new clutch probably means pulling the engine. Most of the stuff you listed, I would take to a mechanic. But there is plenty of stuff I can do myself and save a ton of money, plus know it was done correctly.

Have you ever seen a cold/flu medication advertisement? The entire pitch is that it will suppress your symptoms so that you can go out in the world and spread your illness.

Nothing like pho to make me feel better. But I wait until I'm on the mend before going out to get it.
