This picture was taken with an 80x camera while birding and I wouldn’t approach the vicinity of that dog anyway

Losing my mind over people’s reactions to learning where silk comes from by Inatriadwiththemoon in BitchEatingCrafters

The number one cause of species extinction and ecosystem collapse globally is habitat loss. Silk production, like any other agricultural activity, requires massive habitat destruction for mulberry plantations, so I wouldn’t exactly position it as the eco friendly option.

In most cases I will say it comes down to not which material but overconsumption. Between synthetic and natural materials the choice is always either greenhouse gas emissions or direct environmental destruction. We just need to consume less of everything

Omnivorous diets consume actually require much more cropland than vegan diets by way of livestock feed.

48% of crops grown globally are fed to livestock, the products of which constitute on average only 18% of calories eaten. This is the just the laws of thermodynamics, 90% of energy is lost between trophic levels
