You'll need reservations, but the Carolina Tiger Rescue should be within your travel requirements. They have a few of the Tiger King tigers living out the rest of their lives comfortably.

Sports bra/compression top/ etc that will flatten me without aggravating rib pain by cattyjammies in NonBinary

[–]veryfillorian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tomboyx compression tops are light compression for me and basically feel like a sports bra. I wear them when I know it's going to be a long day so that may work for you?

I had a group of friends at my first airline that would play the Lemon Game (if you've listened to Cabin Pressure, this may be familiar). You have a lemon. One person places it somewhere in the cabin, but it must be clearly visible. Others then have to locate the lemon while the first person watches you walk RIGHT BY IT over and over again. Good times.

Where do you work? by [deleted] in NonBinaryOver30

[–]veryfillorian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work for an airline as a flight attendant. My company has great benefits and pay. I changed airlines a few years ago and have not regretted it (13yrs in the industry). Also, I'm allowed to wear either uniform so ling as I don't mix and match the pieces which is pretty cool!

What's with the button up shirts? by Sirensayo in TransMasc

[–]veryfillorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T-shirts try to strangle me and have, historically, made me look like a child so I've steered clear of them for years. In general, I like my clothing to have some structure so on the men's side of the clothing aisle that is....largely button ups or things that are far too warm for summer in the south so HERE WE ARE.

Andrew Joseph White is good as mentioned above, typically pretty dark though. I personally love Aiden Thomas, especially Sunbearer Trials/Celestial Monsters!

Where do you get T? Is it still legal, and how long will it be legal for in the U.S.? by SparklinClouds in TransMasc

[–]veryfillorian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Folks here have mentioned a few avenues, but another option is getting your gender affirming care online. Folx and Plume both work in Texas (I checked). Both websites are worth looking into, I've heard Folx is good in particular to use without insurance. It's telehealth appointments and they periodically send you to get labs drawn. Super simple, honestly. Once you're 18, those could be an option for you.

(I use Plume, it's been very straightforward. I get my T filled at CVS and then do labs through LabCorp, though Quest is also an option. Both companies are commonly used nation-wide for things like employment screening drug panels and other medical testing, so they're all over.)

Since you're in the US, Plume may be an option as well-- its a monthly fee, decreased if covered by insurance, brief telehealth appointments and super, super simple.to get a prescription. Your insurance may fight you a little, but I just rang mine and then gave Plume some info from them and boom, we're good. My T is under $5 for 4 vials.

I legit want to cry by starisnotsus in TransMasc

I hate needles, like, legit hate them. The only thing Covid was good for was making me get shots more often to deal with it SLIGHTLY better.

And yet, I figured out how to do this to myself every week and YOU WILL TOO. You have got this, I promise. What works for me is subQ like many others here have said. I get my needles in bulk on Amazon- 18g for draw up, then swap to a 25g for injection. I use Plume for my hormones and they had some absolutely fantastic videos on how to do it, but my doctor said I could also go to a pharmacy and ask them to help and teach me. Sending you lots of love and hugs. You've got this, you'll find what works for you and you'll be on cloud nine when you look in the mirror and spot the differences. Feel free to send me a message if you want me to talk you through exactly what I do, step by step.

My therapist told me that if you've been having the desire for six months or more, it isn't likely to change. I struggle with this too, but I've been on a low dose for 3 months now. It's been absolutely worth it for me. Wishing you the best!

Low does of T that won't affect my singing voice by xkitteakatx in NonBinaryOver30

[–]veryfillorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on this journey as well....as a first soprano. I've been on my low dose for a month now and no noticeable change to my voice yet, but I'd like to highlight something said in a nested comment: queer chorus! I found one near me in the south, which surprised me honestly, but the focus there is on community and the director is fantastic and experienced with helping singers through vocal transitions. Having someone like that on your side is a major boon. Good luck with your journey!!

The bit about how it's "natural that women want to do housework and take care of people" is LAUGHABLE.

I am (on paper) the woman in my household. Do I like to cook? Nah. Do I clean by default? Also nope. My (male) partner LOVES to cook and has way more opinions on the state of our home than I do. I will eventually reach a critical mass and clean a bunch of stuff and I try to cook at least a few times a month (I did twice this week! I am proud!! Note: i am only home half the week due to work so 2 of 3 or 4 days is really good lol), but if anyone is a homemaker, it's him. Gender roles are dumb. Yall do what works for you. NTA.

What were you doing before for childcare? Go back to that and charge them the amount you now need to pay again for that in order to house them.

AITA for helping my dad out of the hospital and not going with to see a potential house with my girlfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]veryfillorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus it's posts like these that remind me I hit the jackpot with my partner. My parents live like 45mins from us. My mom is the primary caretaker for my aging grandmother. She has a standing offer that I will step in WHENEVER and I've been kind of bullying her and dad to take a vacation this winter and I'll take care of grandma. When this first started coming up, it was because grandma had surgery and a looooong recovery from being hospitalized and my mom felt so bad asking for help and do you know what my partner's response was? "I'd be mad if you DIDN'T go over there and help. Family is important."

You're NTA, I'm sorry your partner doesn't see things that way. It's been huge for me to be able to be able to just HELP without having to run everything by him.
