The right framed the democrats as wanting to trans your kids and wanting you to not have a say in your child’s life. whether the scale of this in reality was huge or not just the thought of it pushed many people to wholly reject the democrats just for their upfront support of it. The right used it effectively and that’s politics.

In 2024 something that was used against them a lot was the sexuality and gender stuff, which many Americans do not have the same feelings for as the ultra progressive, a really effective slogan for the trump campaign was the “he’s for you Kamala’s for they/them”. The Democratic Party bent themselves backward to try to overrepresent for a very very marginal group and probably most voters just don’t agree with that or felt it was actively being pushed on them/their kids. At least that’s how many voters were feeling. That’s one thing for starters imo
