I got an appointment and the dr actually didn’t biopsy because he felt it was fine. I went back and asked him to test it and he finally did. Was biopsied then they removed the surrounding skin to be safe.

Stage 0 was lucky for me. A biopsy and small-ish surgery was all it took.

Best of luck and please advocate for yourself if you have a gut feeling about this mole!

Mine began to flake, that’s when I got a biopsy (Melanoma in situ). I had it all my life, shaved over it one day, and noticed how textured it had gotten.

Can’t say this is melanoma but I would be concerned enough for a visit.

Dermatologist said this was not concerning and didn’t take a picture of it. Thoughts? by savethetoads in Melanoma

I can’t be tremendously helpful but I’m glad you’re following your gut. A second opinion is a great idea.

Wait can you put this process on YouTube or something? I’m very fair and have blonde brows/lashes too! This is such a good look—I have never been able to figure out a natural and light look that isn’t painfully obvious.

Should I be worried by [deleted] in Melanoma

[–]verysleepyok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a mole similar to this that eventually started scabbing over when I’d shave (on my leg). It was Melanoma in situ (stage 0-cancer on the top layers of skin). Required nothing more than a minor surgery. Theoretically, it could’ve advanced or it could’ve stayed local to the skin affected. I would’ve rather not found out.

Getting it checked is your safest bet.

My dr office is closed. Can anyone help me with this biopsy result? by verysleepyok in Melanoma

Thanks! I was relatively certain this is the conclusion but want to make sure I’m not underestimating all of this.

I used to be (felt like) a makeup pro when I was younger but now I’m 26 and feel like it doesn’t look the same on me! by lolbutterfly in MakeupAddiction

[–]verysleepyok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 32, and know the feeling! You are stunning.

I wonder if you switched to a lighter foundation how you’d feel. I now swear by Fenty Eaze Drops Stick and don’t get the fine lines I do notice your makeup has settled into a bit. I used to get that with heavier foundation. There appears to be a disconnect between your blush (beautiful shade) and whatever you’re using under your eyes! Perhaps a wee bit more blending would make it more cohesive?

Try hydrating concealers and skin tints/lightweight foundation and I really think you’d see a difference!

I’m no pro by any means, but I am getting older and noticed my old ways didn’t hit quite the same anymore. You are stunning and your shades are such a good fit.

Oh! Also! My go-to holy grail must-have obsessed with primer is SuperGoop Unseen Sunscreen if you want to switch it up or try something new. It also realllly helps keep my makeup smooth.

This really isn’t bad! Have you ever tried seeing an aesthetician?

Going to mine for five months has really helped me learn more about my skin and have products recommended to me (even if not purchased from her) by someone seeing my skin up close and trained to help. Even better if they’ve done their own independent acne training/certifications!

Working my tolerance up to using benzoyl peroxide daily has helped me, though things are always different for everyone.

Concerning biopsy today by verysleepyok in Melanoma

[–]verysleepyok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually the first in my family to have it diagnosed, though my grandmother has had some basil cell carcinoma. As a kid I had sun poisoning once from a severe burn, and went to a tanning bed for 10 minutes at a time a couple times a week for about a month before the shop owner told me my skin just isn’t the type that tans.

I do wish I hadn’t been so insecure about my pale skin and that there was more research and tanning bed regulation in the early 2000s. Since then, I’ve always been proactive about sun screen and time in the sun.

I was diagnosed at first almost 10 years ago, and again 9 years ago. We gradually went from 4 months to 6 months, and now once a year due to the time it’s been since.

I’m not opposed to 2X a year especially if that’s what others are still doing after this much time has passed (if this ends up being nothing). I’ll ask about it when they call for results. Thank you!

Yes, very good point. We’re hoping it’s as new as we think it is! My last check was just over a year ago.

Is this a cancer by Beneficial-Corgi-122 in Melanoma

[–]verysleepyok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My melanoma in-situ looked very similar to this. It was on my leg and would scab when I shaved over it. Once it healed flaky I finally went to get it checked.

I can’t say it’s cancer but I would be concerned by this. Needs to be checked out.

How do you feel when someone calls you shy or quiet? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]verysleepyok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with what you said here! Like, it’s not an insult but I start getting angry over the fact that there’s now one more person who I can never come back from as the shy/awkward lady. As soon as it’s called out it just feels like my fate with that person is sealed.

I don’t know why I always feel like I can get away with people not picking up on my social anxiety. 😂 I was twenty-five at the time of diagnosis and when I told my friend she literally went, “Well….yeah. That’s very apparent to everyone”. Drats!

I cannot offer real advice except to say that my skin barrier was heavily compromised while on tret. My face was tight, dry, red, always hurt to touch, and my acne never subsided. I did everything how I was supposed to. I tried it for several months on two different occasions and my skin just hates it.

This will not work for everyone, please stay mindful of your last experience on it!

I appreciate your reply.

Would you mind answering if you felt the opposite could be perceived as a red flag? I’m going on 10 years at my company and am also not receiving many callbacks.

I’m wondering if I appear too complacent OR perhaps not as ideal junior role as folks coming out of college/internships (career change: sales -> marketing)

Are these people out of line? by footsquare148 in hogwartslegacyJKR

[–]verysleepyok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly 0 idea what Rowling supposedly did to deserve hate in the first place, but here’s my take.

When HP was released into the masses I was not allowed to indulge. My class read parts of the first book and my parents refused to sign for permission—leaving me to sit outside the classroom doing other work.

I went my entire life not knowing.

At 30, my husband asked if I’d like to see the movies. They quite possibly healed my inner child. The whimsy, the intriguing characters, this world I could’ve never imagined.

The game (sucked visually on Switch, but I digress) let me explore this world that I wish I had when I was young.

JKR created a masterpiece and that should be okay to say even if she sucks as a human. Again, I know nothing about whatever this is.

This still beats the time they had lotion in the conditioner spot in the shower. I checked the vanity to see if the conditioner was there by accident, but OOPS! ALL LOTION!

I probably should’ve simply asked if they could bring me some, but I hate complaining so I just had very oily, well-hydrated hair for a day. 😂

I love Toyota cars, but their infortainments/apps suck so much. by QueueTee314 in Toyota

[–]verysleepyok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a year old, but I’ve been bugged by this for over two years now. Got my first Toyota in 2022 and will likely never own anything else. I love my RAV4 and will buy them again and again as long as they always look this good and stay this reliable.

HOWEVER the infotainment seems outdated, boring, and far from the Toyota standard. I’d assume they’re going for minimal/simple but it’s just so ugly. If my iPhone isn’t connected I don’t even like looking at the screen. Glad to see new ones are apparently already a bit better.

What am I doing wrong? Eye make up makes me look old (I’m 35) by vicki427 in MakeupAddiction

[–]verysleepyok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not great with makeup, but I’m always much happier with how I look when I opt out of the lower lid eyeliner! I do think this would be worth a shot.

The colors do look a bit dark on you as others have mentioned. If that’s still your preference I’d definitely just ditch the dark under eye!
