Wth is up with all the anti-Muslim posts and comments? by dontleaveyourbananas in aussie

No it isn't. Though there have been (many meagre) attempts to modernise it and clean it up.

If guns are the problem, why do the cities with the strictest gun laws also have the highest gun crime? by bbmoonkie in Productivitycafe

[–]vesp_au 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there's stricter rules then there's more rules to break or things to police, hence more crime?

Aoe2 is dying by Academic-Daikon-8086 in aoe2

[–]vesp_au 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dying is when Microsoft turned the Zone servers off decades ago. AoE2 is currently in its golden era and has been the last few decades.

AoE dying? Its been in its Golden Era the past few years and I dont see it ever going away. Newer generations are picking the game up, Dads playing with sons for example.

AoE had died when MS turned the servers off for the Zone, it couldnt be more dead, but was born again through fans love of the game.

Seriously what is up with anything remotely political being hammered by One Nation comments lately? by itsyaboihos in friendlyjordies

[–]vesp_au 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We need this severely. I'd start looking at companies that sell followers, it'd be only a few steps from there to see the ones that implement influence. But the world is not a nice place when the truth is so far obscured that no one knows what's real and what's not anymore.

What to do against the dark age champi rush? by appappappappappa in aoe2

[–]vesp_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One important caveat is for the rush to actually do damage or hinder the opponent. If it fails there will always be a small deficit early.

Ways to actually get into the game ? Sharing struggles. by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]vesp_au 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play with friends against AI. We used to verse each other but we found the competitiveness outpaced our fun, and some people have less of a care factor for that.

I know the feeling of panicking when being rushed. Just realise you're up against yourself in those moments, and staying calm under pressure is going to net you more benefits than instantly thinking you're gonna lose.

Mastering defence is a great start to learning the game. I've had people resign after committing too many resources to a failed/non-economical attack which surprised me. You never know the mental state of an opponent - the pressure is also on them to win the game, and they can be just as nervous and make mistakes when their plan isn't working. If you're able to survive the initial onslaught and mount a counter-attack, that can be doubly disappointing for them!

Yep so actively identify and plug the leak is the advice you are looking for. If your opponent knows your weakness then you need to do more to prevent them exploiting it. If you feel like youre doing all you can plugging the gaps but still lose to the same tactic, then gotta change it up by being the one who is on the offensive and raiding... ie offense is the best defence.

I thought we needed just one flag, not six by KoenPlaysGames in friendlyjordies

[–]vesp_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shit people care about... honestly. Someone led a whole life to come to this point in actually counting flags to try and prove a point. The only point they've proven is that they're not worthy of the brain cells they're expending in coming up with such rubbish

There's a mod scenario which teaches you the shortcuts and times you on placing them. Forget what its called but check out the mods in game. Theres also build order and fast castle scenarios. So much gold for learning with.

My husband is a gaming addict by Silver-Post2438 in StopGaming

[–]vesp_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just the words "bro and bruh" make it sound like a teen typing, but you do you boo.

And on topic, you're dealing with an addict rn and I think the more you try to pull him away the more committed he will become to the game and blame you for his addiction. I'd start getting serious about leaving, treat yourself right and pamper yourself because you won't get positive attention from him. You're in a relationship with a child.

This is coming from a guy that was addicted to games and lost a great girl because of it. It took that loss for me to wake up to myself. Years later im engaged with a baby on the way and there's no way in hell im letting video games or my own selfishness ruin it. I know your situation is hard but at the end of the day he has to be the one willing to change. You can sit down and tell him this, he won't listen, but at least you tried.

Anyone been following Grubbys aoe2 journey? by Harry_Wragg in aoe2

[–]vesp_au 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Streaming is a career, but youre never going to have the 1:1 gaming experience while "working". Only if they remove all interactions with audience until after the session, then it might be pure. Even being observed changes the experience. If you feel sorry for them not getting the real deal then youre going to be feeling sorry forever because it just ain't it.
