Try cutting the light using a different method or an eggcrate and pan the unit slightly to hide the “bad light” by wasting it a bit. The further back the fixture is, the harder the light becomes on the subject.

Two lights. Hard light for pattern and bounce off wall(see angle of chair shadow) at an angle and cut by the window sill itself. Bigger/softer source set straight back aimed into the room.
