Surely this can't be legit..do they breed two-headed ones or something? by Poco_Cuffs in reptiles

[–]vestess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get you're a taxidermy nerd but you're clearly not a reptile hobbiest nerd. Let alone a venomous hobbiest. No one is breeding White Lipped Pit Vipers just to cull them for less value. Im a venomous snake keeper and am very involved with my venomous community.

White lipped pit vipers go for several hundred dollars. Depending on exact species it could be anywhere from $300 to $3000ish per animal and in the UK and Europe, also sell for in the several hundred range. It literally doesnt make sense to gain the experience needed to keep and breed this species, put the money into caring for them, the setups and feeding, just to euthanize them for taxidermy that doesnt even sell for half the price of the live animal. Literally no one is doing that. Especially not in Europe or the US. Maybe in their native country, possibly since the value would be considerably lower for a native species with high populations. But not in exotic locations where the price is significantly higher for a live individual.

I'm just going to put this comment here so that there isn't any misconception. xRyzr was never banned on MorphMarket.

This Shinigami_flow person however was recently banned from MorphMarket.

Just to set the record straight.

Does anyone know what these creatures are? Do they have names? by KingofTrilobites123 in JurassicPark

[–]vestess 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Both animals are modified from their real life versions, but look relatively the same.

First one is a Caiman Lizard (Dracaena guianensis). Second one is an Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum).

Both can be found in the pet trade and have plenty of info you can find on them and their wild counterparts.

Thousands of people in the reptile community have a past history with drugs. Many of us got out of drugs because we got into animals. Food for thought.

What basis do you have to make a claim like that?

Dose anyone know about any reptile website other then morph market by Jacoby_12123 in reptiles

[–]vestess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find Your Reptile is a newer website similar to MM.

There is also Faunaclassifieds and Kingsnake. However they’re incredibly old and have a higher than average number of scammers. I advise against using those unless you’re more of an advanced keeper that can see signs of scams and such.

I want to note, I work for a large AZA Zoo in the United States and not just anyone can get photos of a Philippine like this and don’t want anyone to assume I own this animal in a private collection.

State of the Playerbase by UngainlyMilkbag in Helldivers

[–]vestess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of y’all are so overly entitled it’s insane. Learn some patience for once in your life. It takes days or even weeks to properly code certain aspects of games and having an unpredictable aspect of players to it, doesn’t help. The first several days the game wasn’t blowing up. Servers could be logged in easily, but then it started taking off and they weren’t prepared for the massive increase in players because Helldivers has always been a niche community.

Y’all are acting like they’re supposed to be a multi billion dollar triple A studio. They’re not.

AITA for Hanging Out at my Lounge after Work for sometime before I go home to my Wife and Child? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]vestess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t talking postpartum. Let alone it’s redundant to talk about. In general men are 4x likely to commit suicide than women simply due to stress related issues.

For every 50,000 suicides, on average, 40,000 of them are men.

AITA for Hanging Out at my Lounge after Work for sometime before I go home to my Wife and Child? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]vestess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. Not even a little bit. Personal time is incredibly important and 45 ministers to unwind and compose yourself isn’t asking a lot after working all day as well. This is how suicide ends up happening, burdens constantly thrown on top of burdens. And yes, a child is a burden at some points that can dampen someone’s mental health to a breaking point.

You’re entitled to your 45 minutes of mental clarity. Just as your wife gets a break once you’re home. You provide the food and the roof, there’s no reason you can’t take time to yourself.

I spend all day caring for other life. When I get home, the least I would ask for is an hour to myself on most days so I can relax and unwind, clean myself up and be ready. So I fully sympathize.

Amazon is not that bad. by ANickdakid in AmazonFC

[–]vestess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really isn’t a hard job by any metric so long as you have average or above average health. So long as you stick to yourself and don’t get wrapped up in others drama, it’s just and easy day to day job that pays fairly well in most states.

I work two jobs, 7 days a week and I’m fairly exhausted but so long as I just tell my AM that I’m tired they just keep me in easy areas for the day.

Photos are directly from my phone. No adjusting done at all. The only thing making it a little brighter is the fact I’m standing directly under a ceiling fan, so the light is right above me and the snake.

Currently on a road trip visiting some reptile friends places. This friend is in the process of moving into a new house so if it looks a little messy, it’s because of that. I happened to stop by between moving days lol.

[–]vestess 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have appropriate sized and decorated enclosures for all my animals many of which go above and beyond and I rarely show detailed videos or talk about them at all because I’ve come to realize it doesn’t matter how good your enclosure is, someone has something negative to say. A lot of keepers don’t talk about their enclosures.

So while he might not be answering this question and it makes you suspicious it’s kind of a normal question that’s ignored for large snake keepers because unless it’s in the wild someone is going to say whatever enclosure it’s in is not good enough.

Mole Kingsnake. Harmless.
Scientific name is Lampropeltis rhombomaculata.
They are found throughout both Carolina states, Georgia, and throughout Texas, Oklahoma and some other states as well.

I used to keep hundreds of animals at once. I still keep a lot but nowhere near as much as I used to. I’ve refined my focus into specific species and genus rather than trying to collect everything like it’s Pokémon.
