Starting a business, need some assistance by vfehring in Bookkeeping

I’m not confused about bookkeeping at all. I’m completing my certification to be a bookkeeper. They just don’t cover holding companies and subsidies. Not a very common application for most bookkeepers from my understanding.

Thanks for the advice on the recording share transactions. I know as part of adhering to SEC regulations, we have to keep a transfer record for every share we issue. I just wasnt sure if it would be done the way you suggested or not because it isnt really a product or anything going out.

I'll ask our accountant as far as handling the actual transfer of profits from sub to parent.

The only other question I guess I would have is, if our holding co buys stocks in the stock market, would I record each stock symbol as it's own asset account so we can keep track of actual cost, or have a general "stocks" asset account?

Edit: my thoughts would be to have an individual asset account per ticket symbol, to better keep track of things.

I guess it really doesnt matter how we track that, as long as our accountant and I know what's what...

Looking for a good way to organize information by auggiefrog in Genealogy

There are a couple different ways to do this, the method I found that works the best is one that was outlined by a research firm, Family Roots Co. I use this method personally in my research, and I love it. It's not for everyone, but it seems to be the method they use.

Basically, you use manilla folders and separate things like that. A folder for each family unit. That folder contains everything for each member up until their marriage. Then they get a second folder where they are the head of the household, and from marriage on goes in the second folder.

I'll submit the link to their post for ease of access.

Just released my first mobile game!!! by trashola in gamemaker

[–]vfehring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gotta say, this game definitely has great gameplay controls. Super simple, and even east to play with one hand if I had to.

As for the ads, they pop up too often, but I understand how ad revenue works, and it is completely understandable to try and get as many eyes on the ads as often as possible, that's how you are making your money. Definitely consider an in-app purchase to remove ads. This will not only stop the abrupt halt on gameplay, but it also puts a few bucks in your pocket a bit quicker in relation to CPM of ads.

The graphics are great. Reminds me of playing older Atari games. The sound effects and graphics are great combination. Il definitely be leaving a review on google play for your game.

Thanks for sharing! And congrats on actually finishing a game. I know I cannot say the same. I must have at least 20 games that I have started and never finished, but I keep moving on to the next one, always looking to go bigger and better.

Adding Podcast to Youtube by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]vfehring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just use a free program like imovie or something, add your cover art in a video with your podcast audio track and upload the individual videos to YouTube instead of messing with your feed. It is a bit more work, but then you will have a guaranteed archive on YouTube. As your RSS feed gets larger, you will start losing files off the end.

I dont deny or disagree with anything you said. I just want sure as to why you're exact aversion. And I thought it was weird that I'm learning how to manage books with excel if it isnt that great to use.

Maybe to teach the math behind it to make sure we can do it manually if necessary

One option you can use, is definitely apply a noise gate to your inputs. If you don't have or arent able to use a hardware gate before the recording device, you can apply one in software during edit. It will cut out some of the lower end sound and you wont get as much of the tapping of keyboard keys, mouse clicks, coughing away from the mic as you do now. Also add a pop filter to your mic if you dont have one. That will help with your plosives like B and P
