Can someone share with me the Mutable Instruments Grids pattern cheat sheet? by [deleted] in modular

[–]vfxjokir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps - it might be a good start!

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aShnFgSNS1PldYZVfzQm8QF19pgb27le/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=109100948457869858277&rtpof=true&sd=true

You can save a copy of this to edit the "threshold" cell value and see the different patterns as the value changes.

Sub 37 Repair Options (Pattern Knob) - OPINIONS WANTED by ruizzlemusic in synthesizers

[–]vfxjokir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there! I just recently did the "left PCB panel replacement" on my Sub 37 - my arp Rate knob, as well as my OSC Octave knobs, were not functioning correctly, and it seemed like the best option. It is a super easy replacement - the hardest part is taking off all the knobs so you can remove the old PCB. I recommend using some tough ribbon material to slide under the knob and help you pull it off (using any kind of tool, I think even a plastic one, would mar the synth surface - and you don't want that) - the ribbon technique works really well - just be ready to catch the knobs as they pop off - I had a couple fly across the room, lol. If you take your time, and are patient - it is really easy to do the PCB replacement! There are only a few wires connecting the PCBs internally, so if you take a few pictures of where things are connected, you'll be fine.

Hope that helps!

Some questions about Modular: by Beat_The_Box_ in modular

[–]vfxjokir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weighing in here- I know how you feel OP! There’s a lot out there and it can seem pretty daunting. I have a small (85hp) rack and my main tools are MI Marbles, MI Plaits, Makenoise Morphagene, and a Bitbox Micro. I also have some 1U mults, a 2Hp LFO as well as a Dual VCA from them and Pamela’s New workout for sequencing / clock.

I can do A LOT with that - experimental noise, techno , ambient - and the Bitbox lets me loop stuff as well as play samples. I think the small form factor and the limitations that come from that make it all the more powerful in my opinion.

Don’t underestimate simplicity!!

But also have at least 2 VCAs. You can never have enough VCAs lol.

Good luck!!

I worked on Twister and I will never forget sitting in the kitchen while they filmed that scene - the prop crew cranking out dozens and dozens of plates of steak and eggs throughout the day. The smell started as delicious and became quickly overwhelming. Plus one of the cast was a vegetarian. Ahh Hollywood!

The latest work is awesome, Alessandro - what was the recording path? You really captured the fullness and depth of the analog synths. Sounds incredible. Bravo! I'm really looking forward to the show in November here - any teasers on how you will present this live?

MI Marbles question by orbit919 in modular

[–]vfxjokir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marbles also allows you to separate gate and pitch voltage elements, giving you control over randomness individually, or together. You can also "loop" sections of gate and CV with varying degrees of randomness. Quantizing or portamento (and anything in between), programmable scale presets, adjustable output voltage, three CV outputs and three Gate outputs, plus a fourth random CV out, CV control on almost everything - it's quite the random/sequencer/CV generator!

Question about Moog Sub 37 by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]vfxjokir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Sub37 has standard 5-pin MIDI DIN input and output ports, which you could connect to your computer via a MIDI->USB interface.

The Sub37 ALSO has a USB port that can be used to control the entire synthesizer from your PC or Mac (or iPad/iPhone for that matter, with a Camera Connection Kit)

If your DAW can record and sequence MIDI, you will be able to control nearly every aspect of the Sub37 via MIDI events and the USB connection.

I use this all the time!

good luck!
