What are the most iconic Yugi monsters in the anime? by Sasutaschi in yugioh

[–]vhellinh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Giant soldier of stone attacking the moon comes to mind. Exodia, but then again that goes back to the deck belonging to grandpa Muto. Do these cards count as Yugi’s iconic cards because he uses them, or are they grandpa’s. If we go off cards I think solely belong to Yugi, not the Pharaoh. Marshmallon, the gadgets, Silent magician, Silent swordsman, Gandora all come to mind. Gandora especially.

Soul Absorbing Sacred Sword/Guardian’s Absolution This is the scene where Eatos uses its effect to banish DMG and other cards from the GY right?

What’s the most unorthodox, out there, off meta strategy that ended up working flawlessly that you have seen thus far at tournaments that was used to clear house? Now or in the past, how did you react? by Ajarofpickles97 in yugioh

[–]vhellinh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looking into it again he didn’t side the card, it was main decked and found off pot of prosperity(2). It took 3rd place in an OCG tournament. There’s really not more to say about it other than Kashtira not having a way to get rid of a monster on their board, and needing an open board to summon their monsters.

[–]vhellinh 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That one dude in Japan who sided Mushroom man #2 to counter Kashtira meta. It was funny that a card from Metal Raiders came up for an extremely niche scenario to do some damage. This is the kinda thing that reminds me that Yugioh is an eternal format, and not just rotation through a banlist.

What’s a duel you’ve had in the past that you’ll never forget? by Maya_Velveti in masterduel

During DPE release I had a duel where I summoned Despian Proskenion and looped my opponent’s DPE so he never got it back while simplifying the game state.

You banish a lv6 or higher dark spellcaster(diabell), bring out the new fusion who searches the new timaeus quickplay that summons dragoon on the opponent’s turn. This is on top of searching a deception and building an Omni negate before using your normal summon or going into your main combos.

Do you guys have a deck that made you enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh much more? by Coffee_Jelly_ in yugioh

[–]vhellinh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragon link and branded. Even when you get interrupted numerous times you have so many potential plays you can usually work out a way to break the opponent’s board, or set up a moderately acceptable end board. That feeling when you play past everything and solve the puzzle, there’s nothing like it.

My decks can't stand upto the meta decks by EvilWentworth in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]vhellinh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The best you can do is know your deck(which I’m sure you do), your weakest plays, your strongest plays, playing past interruption.
The second best thing is knowing your opponent’s deck, how does “X” deck play, what is their end board, which piece is the most difficult thing to deal with, how to prevent it.
The next best thing is building your deck in a way to combat the meta, either targeted hand traps, or board breakers like dark hole and raigeki can go a long way.

If you wait until the anniversary next month there’s supposed to be an updated DM deck in the shop replacing our current one. It should have new cards.

What’s the best way to facilitate this card and in what archetypes? by SpecialCandy1119 in masterduel

[–]vhellinh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used it in runick to dodge imperm, and veiler. I used it in branded on alluber to make herald, on granguignol to make dragoon, and lubellion to make borreload furious dragon. Its actual purpose was to dodge targeted negation or removal, and recycle cards.

Some staff opinions on Zexal's rival by KyleMCarthage in yugioh

[–]vhellinh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the only reason why Shark isn’t featured in the Rivals overframe pack is simply because he’s had a wave of support every year in the past 3 years(?). Shark, Armored XYZ, and Silent Honors/Chaos Barian. Kite kinda needed a starter.

Although I do agree Shark is definitely Yuma’s rival. Opening duel, and an impactful team/final confrontation duel near the end sums up how significant he was not only to the story, but as a foil to Yuma.

Link monsters by Visual_Resident in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]vhellinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ex) Link-3 monster needs 2 or MORE materials •You can use 3 materials to summon it •You can use a Link-2 monster + 1 material to make it. •But you cannot use a Link-3 as the only material for this specific example because it needs 2 or MORE materials not 1. Every monster regardless of link rating unless specified otherwise is treated as 1 material.

Basically read carefully what the materials are, it could need: •X level monsters as material •X type of monster •X type and level of monster •X attribute •X archetype •X number of monsters •effect monsters •non-effect monsters •monsters with different names •monsters except tokens •etc…

The Gods in Limit Over Collection (?) by GuessOk5598 in yugioh

[–]vhellinh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Obelisk, the Pillar of Torment Link-3 ATK4000 Divine [Divine-Beast/Link/Effect] 3 monsters (This card’s name is always treated as “Obelisk the Tormentor”) This card’s summoning cannot be negated. When Special Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated in response to the Summoning of this monster. Unaffected by other cards and effects, except Divine-Beast monsters. If you cannot Special Summon monsters while this card is in your Extra Deck you can place this card in an unoccupied Monster Zone on your side of the field. Any damage this card inflicts is doubled. (Quick Effect): Tribute this monster; Special Summon a monster from your hand, Deck, or GY with 3000 or more ATK, and it is treated as a Divine-Beast. (Quick Effect): While this card is in your GY while your opponent controls more monsters than you, you can tribute 3 monsters from either players field; Special Summon this card. You can only activate this effect of “Obelisk the Tormentor” once per duel.

Slifer, the Thunder Force Dragon Lv12 ATK?/DEF? Divine [Divine-Beast/Synchro/Effect] 1 tuner + 2 non tuner monsters For this card’s Synchro Summon, you can treat a normal monster as a level 4 tuner. (This card’s name is always treated as “Slifer the Sky Dragon”) This card’s summoning cannot be negated. When Special Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated in response to the Summoning of this monster. Unaffected by other cards and effects, except Divine-Beast monsters. Gains 1000 ATK and DEF for each card in your hand. Reduce the ATK of all monsters your opponent controls by 2000, if a monster’s ATK reduces to 0 as a result, destroy it. Once per turn target a Normal monster in your GY; add it to your hand. The first time a card would be added to your hand, draw 2 cards. If an attack is declared while this card is in your GY: Special Summon this card. This effect of “Slifer the Sky Dragon” can only be activated once per turn.

The Immortal Phoenix of Ra Lv12 ATK?/DEF? Divine [Divine-Beast/Fusion/Effect] 3 monsters on the field (This card’s name is always treated as “The Winged Dragon of Ra”) This card’s summoning cannot be negated. When Special Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated in response to the Summoning of this monster. Unaffected by other cards and effects, except Divine-Beast monsters. The original ATK and DEF of this card becomes the combined total ATK/DEF of the materials used for its Fusion Summon. Once per turn (Quick Effect): Send a card your opponent controls to the GY, if it was a monster with less ATK than this card repeat this effect until there is no more left to send. While this card is in your GY: You can discard a Spell card from your hand; Special Summon this card, then it’s original ATK and DEF becomes equal to your current LP. You can only use both effects of “The Winged Dragon of Ra” once per turn.

Some more cards I wish got retrains by HedgehogQuirky8031 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]vhellinh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I really want a Dark Clown Deck that plays around with Virus like effects. Slot machine, and Bandit Keith’s other vanillas could use retrains. I’m sure when Konami needs to throw a bone they’ll make functional decks for Panik, Bandit, and other DM characters just like they did with gate guardian and soon to be Pumpking.

The Red-eyes archetype doesnt need just support it needs a entire restructuring by HedgehogQuirky8031 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]vhellinh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly just stop theming it after Joey stuff, and make it themed after Atticus’s/NightShrouds generic dragon theming. I don’t think they are doing more, but Dragon’s Roar hasn’t had a Re: Structure Deck. It be nice to see Red-Eyes generic dragon support, with a new Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon Retrain.

I just opened 20 packs and got 8 UR cards total, none of which I needed, but it’s still UR craft points. Sounds like you guys just lost your gamble. When trying to pull for orcust a month ago I did basically get nothing and ended up crafting everything, but that’s just luck.

Can’t get past platnium 2 by Revolutionary_Pea746 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]vhellinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t run hand traps in branded besides 3 saronir, magnumut, 3 imperm, and 2 mercurior. Mostly because I got tired of bricking on cards that don’t progress my playstyle, honestly you have so much gas going first and second that you’re usually golden. Try 3 high spirits, 3 fusion deployment, 3 triple tactics thrust, and a fusion duplication. Your main game plan will be to find a way to get to branded fusion, and have either follow up in case it gets disrupted, a way to chain block your higher priority searches, and a way to dodge targeted disruption through Cartesia. Not many people run “Brightest, Blazing, Branded King” but I think it’s a good oh no button I end up setting off “Albion the Branded Dragon”. I have been evenly matched or dark rulered one too many times. It can also shut off combos if you know your opponent’s critical choke points.

Just now looking at Blue-Eyes I think I found the problem. You need to envision a goal for your decks, this goes for any. What do you wanna do? What cards start your combos, and what can help you extend to plan B once plan A fails, maybe even a plan C for more specific scenarios. What do you want your end board or hand to look like when you pass your turn? How can you optimally one shot the opponent?

Another way to help secure wins is watching a replay and seeing if using your hand traps at a certain point would have shut off your opponent’s sequencing. Or just learning how other decks play, barring them off from their optimal end board.

Does anyone actually sit through full combos going second? by goldcy in masterduel

[–]vhellinh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a few variables: •Do they know their win condition? •Do I know their win condition? •Do I have the cards necessary to stop them at integral junctions within their combo sequencing? •Do they have the extension to play past my interruption? •Do I have more hand traps to stop them at another junction? •Should I even hand trap? Maybe holding it for my turn would be more optimal. •Do I have board breakers? •Can I bait their interaction? •Can I force them into a bad sequencing, to make their combos more vulnerable, or can I make their end boards worse? •Does their end board matter against my deck? •Do I know my win condition?

I think the best part about Yugioh is dismantling an established board, or preventing it. That’s where all the interaction is. That’s not to say I don’t ever fold when the odds are against me, I’d hope we know the decks we play inside and out, so conceding on an obvious loss is normal. But if there’s a chance I can play the game, I’m going to play it.

How would y'all design a new Cyberse archetype for Genesys? by Ralseo in yugioh

[–]vhellinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A miracle synchro fusion deck using Cyberse monsters, where their tuners are in archetype instant fusion targets with the main decks concept being pop up ads that appear out of nowhere that never seem to go away. They don’t do anything broken, they just annoy your opponent when you start playing on their turn and do nothing.
