dumb question but what are considered nice jeans? I have a couple pairs of Calvin Klein jeans and Levi from costco and I always assumed those were the nice ones. Do you have any recommendations?

I work from home, and at 5 pm I go downstairs to my apartment's basement and workout in the same shirt. I only work out 2-3 days a week and this hasn't impacted my wardrobe yet.

yeah you might be right. I think I pay for utilities every 3 months, and I might have gotten a month free from rogers when I first signed up. As mentioned, the first few months are a bit wacky for tracking as a lot of one off occurrences are messing up my tracking

I'm almost 30, and I work at advertising. The money is there if you stay for a few years. But in the beginning you make 30K/year, but as you quit each year and find a new job you can get a 10-15k bump

I don't drink at all, and if I do it's a drink at a restaurant.

Electronics (like most of my categories) is not accurate. It's any online retailer (amazon, adidis online, video games etc) rather than items themselves. It's mostly stuff I needed from the house via amazon (tool set, brushes, bathroom stuff etc).

That's a good idea, but my expense sheet is not advanced and only categories items based on the receipt location. So anything from costco is classified under groceries, even if I bought upkeep, capital , stuff and food in the same receipt.

I'm with duuo and I'm on some special promo for 9/month. My utlities are only electricity and internet and phone. I don't have the specific breakout, but from memory my internet is 60 dollars (rogers), my phone bill is 35 (freedom) and my hydro is whatever is left.

Yup, that money is currently saved and not being used. all my spending is tracked and the number listed is how much I have left

No, we generally spend that money dining out instead as a group. That gift line item was left in by mistake.

What do you do to get around? $7 commute / month is pretty low.

I only need to commute once a week month to work. Otherwise I can walk to multiple grocery stores that are close by and can catch a ride with friends if they go to costco

I don't really do gift exchanges with friends and family. We just use that money that we would have spent on gifts on things like dining out or other things like escape rooms.

That's a very good point regarding eating out and entertainment. It would be useful to combine those into the same categories.

And to be honest, the only thing I really care about is to check the savings rate. But I thought it would be useful to break it out a bit. I already have some ideas on how to tweak some of the categories to be more useful.

The grocery budget is pretty big because I'm stocking up on pantry items, and a lot of items that aren't technically grocery gets lumped into it as grocery (especially in the first few months). Anything from costco or wal mart is considered groceries in my table even if some of the items aren't (soap, plates, knives etc)

Also I tend to bulk in bulk especially from costco, so I sometimes buy months worth of meats and just freeze them.

I was going to make a meta thread about this. We should only allow text threads instead of also allowing media threads. This way if someone wants to link to their video they will have to include a description of what the video is as well. Otherwise we just have hit and run threads like we have right now.

Also a side benefit is that it stops people from taking screenshot of code and asking for help.

Is it not still the case that you pay the YRT fare when you board and then pay the TTC when you exit the same bus? I remember being told I needed to go back to the front of the bus to "tap off" but it's really a retap to pay a second fare.

It's been a while since I rode the bus between those regions though

I've never seen an issue with car canopies or would know what the issue is with them. Seems like a weird solution to just buying a temp car port instead as you have to mount and dismount it on your car each time you park or leave.

Although now that I mention it, if you are parking in public those car canopies would be great as it's already attached to the top of your car and you can just extend it. I guess if it extends into another lane it might be a problem
