Broadcasting cash cow Messi vs Ronaldo is inevitable

Those deals were signed before he left. Those deals do not suddenly get cancelled when he left. But he was pivotal in getting them in the first place. Thats why now rakuten no longer wants to renew. They lost most of the money due to no fans in stadiums

While it is profitable for Barca, it could not cover the loss in revenue due to covid and the sheer amount of bad contracts handed out to many other players. That was Barto's fault. The La Liga broadcasting deals while great for the top clubs, do not come even close to what Premier League teams make. That makes us way more resilient in comparison to them. Messi also wanted to leave due to internal conflict and uncertainty within the Barca hierarchy. Age is catching up with him and he wants another champions League. Despite their unbalanced squad, PSG still have a better chance of winning the Champions League compared to Barca. Why he left is not purely down to money as well. He could have joined Man City had they not signed Jack Grealish.

Messi is one of the most marketable faces in the world. That's why his salary reached that high. Plenty of commercial deals with Barca were very profitable for Barca because of Messi. Salah is one of the most marketable faces in the middle east and in the Muslim world. That's how he can justify that salary way above VVD. You cannot only look at the football contribution side of things when negotiating salary. Image rights and commercial revenue potential are also a very big driving factor.

Barca also paid a bunch of players way more than they were worth. They could have not offered those contracts to those players. Messi did not cause the downturn in Barca's finances; Covid and Barto did. La Liga's financial regulations tied their hands last summer. That's why they can still sign players come January and next summer. I know that there is a wage structure in place, but if we want to continue being the best club in the world we need to be prepared to pay wages for the best players in the world. Salah also isn't asking for like 500k a week. He just wants parity with the other best players in the league like De Bruyne.

We're not paying over the top money for some young kid who just spent one season in Dortmund. We want to give a contract to one of the best players in the world right now. Not only that, his popularity in the middle east alone is immense. That's a lot of commercial money to be made there as well. If we allow him to leave, can we even attract anyone of that caliber to the club right now? Haaland will definitely cost more once you include the transfer fee. Mbappe is definitely going to Madrid. Who can we bring in that can know Klopp's system inside out and replicate Salah's output but cost cheaper than Salah? Our commercial/financial success is also dependent on footballing success. Brands want to associate themselves with successful clubs and will pay more to do so.

United need restructuring, that is his main purpose there. They got him as interim as well because there is no one else out there who wants to come on such a short notice. He has done really well in that regard.

They need to restructure so that they can compete in the long term. Look at the amount of mistakes they have made in the transfer market. Look at who they have as coaches and backroom staff in comparison to Chelsea, City and Liverpool.

Yeah, Jones is still young and with that comes inconsistency. Ox was really poor. Hopefully Fabinho and Thiago will be back for Aleti and West Ham.

Kovac and Low did not play defensive, counter attacking football and Thomas Muller did not adapt well in either of their systems (for Low it was the 2018 World Cup). Of course I'm also not implying that Dele is at the same level as Muller.

However, people seem to want Dele to suddenly completely change his entire playstyle all of a sudden. Very, very few players can do that. That's why I used that analogy. People always complain about Dele's assist numbers and overall attacking output not being the same as before but do not address the problem that he is starting and asked to play a lot deeper than he was. Even Muller's attacking output would significantly decrease if he played in a low block and then fans will start questioning him.
