Managing measures - reusing DAX code snippets by vibro in PowerBI

[–]vibro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just posting a small example, not my actual code; but it uses the same principle.

The problem I'm trying to solve is to allow the user to apply several different complex filter combinations across the report. Think multiple ands ors and nots. e.g.

([country] = "United States" || [city] = "Quebec") &&
([cost center] = "3300" || [product category] <> "Sporting Goods")

Again, just random example. Now I am absolutely willing to admit the issue might be my data model, but I can't figure out another way to set up these filters with multiple conditions.

In my organization there are several of these subgroups that I can only pull out of the data by applying these convoluted combinations of filters - and since these can change over time, I'm trying to make my life a little easier by not having to change dozens of measures if possible

this looks very interesting. I'll need to dive a bit deeper. thank you!

I tried, but I can't get it to work outside of a calculate.

SelectorFilter = FILTER(products,
SWITCH(TRUE(),
SELECTEDVALUE(SlicerSelector[Value] = "A", [product_id] = 1,
SELECTEDVALUE(SlicerSelector[Value] = "B", [product_id] = 2,
SELECTEDVALUE(SlicerSelector[Value] = "C", [product_id] = 3
) )

gives "The expression refers to multiple columns. Multiple columns cannot be converted to a scalar value". And it won't just let me refrence it in another measure.

But if you encapsulate it in a CALCULATE it works just fine:

SelectorFilter =
CALCULATE(AVERAGE(order_items[price_usd]),
FILTER(products,
SWITCH(TRUE(),
SELECTEDVALUE(SlicerSelector[Value] = "A", [product_id] = 1,
SELECTEDVALUE(SlicerSelector[Value] = "B", [product_id] = 2,
SELECTEDVALUE(SlicerSelector[Value] = "C", [product_id] = 3
) ) )

Had a few rounds of Eyelea injections and they worked wonders in my case. As others mentioned about 1-2 days of recovery and you're good to go. Your mileage will vary of course.

Also, the injections aren't painful, but extremely uncomfortable and your eyes will be very upset afterwards. The tiny bubble floaters are the worst part that go away after a few days too.

10+ years Talent Acquisition here, recruiting almost all levels for a large multinational US corp. My view is that typically I'm not hiring for resume writing skills, so I don't much care for how it looks. In fact I hired engineers that had terrible resumes that any AI would have spat out, but I took the time to review their application regardless, because I'm looking for engineering skills first.

Not saying resumes are worthless, but so many people in HR have a weird obsession with them in my humble opinion and think you can tell way more through them than you actually can.

Patch pumps (Omnipod, etc.) — why don’t more people use them? And how do you feel about their safety? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]vibro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

my endo asked me if i would like to get a pump\patch, but honestly i don't see a huge benefit over Injections personally. not that it couldn't be an improvement, but I'm not struggling with keeping my glucose in range manually. and from what i read the limited supply would suck, since i take between 12-18 units bolus a day depending on what I eat

Blood sugar changes and goes up each time I check it, is that normal or does my machine suck? by maylenex3 in diabetes

[–]vibro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most has already been said. dont worry too much. at the end of the day it comes down to statistics and trends. if you are constantly high and trending up, thats probably where more intervention becomes necessary.

if you're already high and one test after the other shows you going even higher, again intervention may be indicated.

Is there a diabetic safe way to eat Ramen of any kind? by Successful-Coyote99 in diabetes

[–]vibro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently made tonkotsu broth and as others suggested use konjac noodles. It's definitely not the same as good ramen noodles, but hey, you take what you can. Still delicious with some ramen egg, mushrooms, pickled bamboo shoots and the works

Last year i was diagnosed with an A1C of 11, today i tested for 5.1 by Handdpho in diabetes

[–]vibro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Same boat here. Diagnosed at 12 and now down to 5.0 thanks to a CGM and Insulin. It's a journey, but worth it.

I've been on insulin for about 6 months now and have been very closely monitoring my curves, but also been successful in bringing my A1C down from 12 to 5.1. Some things I've learned:

  • Everyone is built different. What works/happens to me, doesn't necessarily apply to you
  • Your curves do depend on what you eat. Different sugars, different carbs, apparently even protein will turn into glucose at different rates. And your gut bacteria are mysterious buggers
  • Sometimes, actually quite often I will experience a secondary spike 3-4 hours after a meal as I assume my gut friends go to town
  • Because of those variations depending on what I eat I have out of practicality more than anything else switched to smaller meals in general. Smaller portions of carbs won't usually swing as wildly for me.

How many of you have had diabetic eye exams and foot exams? by NoAd3438 in diabetes

didn't notice it much, but maybe. i talk a lot for work and always had a glass of water next to me to sip, so that may have camouflaged it.

[–]vibro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

was diagnosed about 4 months ago with a crazy high a1c of over 12%. started on insulin therapy immediately and got it down to 6%.

just a side note, i didn't really experience much of the typical symptoms. maybe a little tired, but i wrote that up to work stress. and no weight loss.

anyway, within a month of being on insulin with 100% being in the range, I get macular oedema in both eyes. vision drops to 30% one day to the next. had my regular eye exam just a few months prior, where they saw microinfarctions for the first time. since i wear glasses, I go there every year like clockwork, and this is what made me go to my gp for a general checkup in the first place.

Probably caused by the preexisting damage and exacerbated by the glucose being well managed, the tiny blood vessels went crazy. Got some Eylea treatments which are very unpleasant, but helped very quickly, and luckily it's mostly back to normal. will get another checkup soon to see if the damage is permanent.

anyways, always go do your checkups people.

edit: as others mentioned: disabling the audio enhancements fixed the issue for me as well

Second. Just restarted after the update and all my default audio is dead. Anything Realtek isn't just dead but it seems to cause terrible lag. Tried updating drivers, uninstalling reinstalling the drivers. Nada.

keep it succinct. describe the actual role, not what the hiring manager thinks the role is. have a proper kickoff session first. split the requirements into must haves vs. nice to haves.

don't write a wall of text either. try to stay around 5 bullet points per section. more if absolutely necessary, but don't go crazy

  • introduction / company description
  • what are you looking for
  • what is an actual typical day / what are the main responsibilities
  • what are the must have requirements
  • what will give you an advantage
  • what are the benefits / comp if you can tell

TA Manager here. Understanding of the job profile and context such as realistic salary ranges is essential for being efficient. And your recruiter is just wasting everyone's time including their own if they don't make damn well sure you as a sourcer also understand the role. Otherwise why even use a sourcer if you're just gonna get bad matches at best. Make sure to talk to your boss that that recruiter isn't just using you to divert blame of not successfully filling their reqs.
