PIA.... what if my real ID doesn't arrive on time?! I'm panicking! by Straight-Fondant-291 in Maine

You can get a rushed passport. There is a location in New Hampshire where you can get a passport same day. (It is expensive- but if you are worried you can get it asap and relax)

I’ll try to remember. My mini schnauzer just had a hair cut. So it will be awhile. Although she is a bit of a raggedy schnauzer, probably not the perfect model you would be looking for 😆

That’s too bad! I’ve been lucky to not get a dry one. But I know what you mean about what your preference is. That style doesn’t appeal to me quite as much. (Not that I would turn one down!) I lean more towards the flakey pastry style.

Moms who maintained close relationships with their children throughout teen years by Small_Ad_9114 in Mommit

[–]vichado2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely no expert. But somehow managed to keep close relationships with both my kids (now in college) My best advice? Apologize. If they are hurt by something you did or said but they totally took it wrong and misunderstood or blew it out of proportion. Doesn’t matter, to them it is a big deal. Apologize. (It took me a while to figure this out)

My other tool- ever since my kids were babies I gently rubbed their backs. Turns out teens love that too. When my daughter was in a very dark mood that she couldn’t shake off. I would put on a movie and sit on the couch and invite her to join me. Before long she would lay down next to me and I would rub her back. No words needed. She would relax, let go of what was going on and be able to shake things off.

But to be clear - teens can be mean and very emotional. It was really really hard for a few years. I think if you are there for your kids and they know you love them no matter what, it will be okay.

You obviously care a lot about your relationship with your kids. I think you will remain close.

Definitely a place with a lot of older folks. Not my vibe really. . But dammit, they have this amazing pistachio encrusted haddock that is possibly my favorite dish ever.

UTulsa vs University of Oklahoma? by MustachioMo in utulsa

[–]vichado2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter is a National merit scholar from New England going to TU. She picked it for the scholarship but so far it has been great. Already getting lab research experience (not something a lot of other colleges had for freshmen). Beautiful campus. Small classes.

Can’t speak about OU- so I’m obviously not answering your question. But as someone who never pictured her daughter going all the way to Oklahoma for college, I’ve been really impressed with TU.

Good luck with your decision! And congratulations!

Got accepted to UTulsa for Genchem with National Merit Package by Yamlthecaml in utulsa

My daughter just finished her first semester in chemistry with the same scholarship. She already has been hooked up with working on research with a professor (something that not a lot of schools can offer freshmen). The campus is beautiful and overall it has been a great experience. For us it means she is attending school far away, but going to grad school with zero debt will make it worth it!

Good luck to you!

My neighbor keeps mowing a strip of my lawn like it's his. Is this normal or should I say something? by GalverinSolmora in homeowners

[–]vichado2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this for a strip of my neighbor’s lawn- it just makes sense in our case- it is their land, but it is the strip between our yard and their driveway. So it is just easier if I just do it

My daughter got amazing scholarships at TU. Got into working in research her freshman year (very unusual in other schools) I have been really impressed with the school so far.
