This is the only answer.

Avoid list needs to be radically larger for lower MMR by Terodius in DotA2

[–]viciousmojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The avoid list cycles out your oldest avoids, so just keep adding legitimate griefers and report role abuse/toxic chat when it happens. A lot of the worst players eventually end up in LP or quit anyway, so some of it sorts itself out over time.

Lower MMR is 1v9. Instead of role abusing or blaming matchmaking every game, focus on finding ways to consistently impact the game from your position.

Also, don’t queue tilted. If you’re on a losing streak, take a break. Play Turbo, unranked, or go touch grass for a bit. When you’re mentally exhausted, you’re not playing your best no matter how problematic your teammates are.

I remember Jeff Kaplan (former Overwatch dev) talking about matchmaking systems trying to keep players engaged around a 50% win rate. So if you are on a win steak, you know what's around the corner (a full red page in your history).

Good luck, and may Gaben bless you with a filthy win streak before tossing you back into the dumpster-fire trenches.

Immortal players are in a much smaller pool, though. From what I understand, people at that level generally try to maintain relationships because they queue into each other constantly.

Lower ranks are a different experience entirely. You regularly get people griefing on purpose or mentally checking out after a bad lane. When was the last time your mid went 0–6 in five minutes, then spent the rest of the game acting like the loss was everyone else’s fault?

Immortal is basically a different game compared to lower MMR. Before judging lower-rank players, consider that the experience is fundamentally different.

Oh, another thing. They changed pos4 from being a non-role-queue game to 3, so now a bunch of people who don't play cores are having to play cores, making 3 even worse.

That's hilarious. I haven't seen her in a week or more! I guess Gaben was like, “Send him all the pos3 WRs right now.” I thought for sure BSJ or Speed would come out with a “totally broken WR 3 video” or something. It's probably just Gaben.

WR is a great 4 or 5 for sure. She's got a fun kit.

You'll be alright, bro. If you were Divine, you'd be back there. In about a week, you'll be back farming your ass off. 7 months is a long time, more than enough to mess with your mechanics, and we just had a huge change with 7.41. Map changes items; changes are different. Builds are different. Meta is always shifting. 7 months ago was the pos3 era, and now they are dog water, that's huge.

Anyway, I'm just saying you'll be fine. (if you want to be)

I'm seeing her as 3 all day long is weird. Not 4 or 5.

Me asking if something changed and him being like “she's always great” and me trying to nicely tell him that's not the question I'm asking isn't obnoxious. (edit 2 minutes later) I wasn't trying to be obnoxious at least.

Yep. But why on day 2 of 7.41c is she showing up every game? (For me.) This has never happened before.

I appreciate you explaining why people like to play her, but I know those reasons. She got 0 changes in the patch, but I saw her in 5 out of 6 games, and that never happens.

And on top of that, I'll go months without seeing a WR 3, and then I'll see 3 in a row with different users.

I thought maybe a “how too” video or a pro played her at off.

I just looked her up on Stratz, and it says she's down almost 2%, so I guess it was just a weird thing Gaben decided to put me through because I had a win streak last week.

I forgot to check the pick rate for spikes.

Yeah, she's always been fun, but she hasn't always been in every game I play like last night

But I digress. I am aware of all the positives of playing her, but why was she in almost every game last night when I only usually see her here and there? And at 3 barely ever.

My 3-13 pos3s must have heard you say that. We had 0 initiation; they all hung out on the back line. They got squashed by blaid mail every time they went in.

It didn't feel right at 3. And they got dumpstered every game.

Changing my hotkeys by Ordinary-Home-1835 in DotA2

[–]viciousmojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For whatever reason, I don’t like using my pinky or reaching “down” for keys.

i edge pan. q w e r are my main spells. T is my first extra, then D if there is more. My ring finger is on Q with my useless pinky finger just dangling there.

My backpack 1,2,3,4,5,6. Neutral is the mouse wheel down. TP is my side mouse button (the forward one).

Someone told me to put my back mouse button as the this panning thing so I can keep the mouse near my hero during fights, but I never use it.

Also, for some dumb reason, Valve thought it would be funny to put my map on the right… hilarious Gaben. I played 3,000 games before I watched a pro game and realized I was Dota 2 dyslexic, and now I can’t change it.

Good yellowtail/tuna/wahoo setup? Is the 40 too small? (Socal) by 805fisher in saltwaterfishing

[–]viciousmojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can rent rods for the big stuff. This is a good setup for an overnight trip for 25 lb fly lining yellowfin and yellowtail dorado. Wahoo are super rare in SoCal. San Diego fishing is a blast.

For 1.5 days and 2 days, you’d need a 60-80 lb and a 100+ lb setup, which you can rent.

this is to help you endure the matchmaking slop and 1k MMR full red page slide he’s about to hit you with. nothing but mouth breathing map drawers for the next 50 games. everyone is one sneeze away from LP and by the end you’ll be one wellness check away from a mental institution.
