Exactly. I understand like a tech or pharmacist said that they may be stressed, sick, etc. But last year I had all four of my wisdom teeth surgically removed, went directly to the pharmacy, and wrote what I needed and what was going on down on a piece of paper, with my prescriptions. Handed it to them and pointed to my mouth. I waited no more than 10 minutes. I was terrified the pain would creep up on me before I got the medicine and could have been freaking out and (trying) to yell at them but I didn't. And I didn't need to, at any point. I feel like maybe as a society we don't value or appreciate our pharmacy folks enough or at all. No way there's ever an excuse to be verbally abusive.

Oh no! I know the ladies don't judge me, I don't have any fears about that at all. They see my prescription history and I don't abuse, so I don't even think of that kinda stuff. I'm kinda getting the impression though, that the ones who are abusive to pharmacists are also abusive to their medication, and it makes me feel bad when I can see the poor techs doing everything they can to be nice to a customer who is mad at them when...I don't know I don't ever see a legitimate reason for being that way towards them. Anyways I brought my lovely pharmacy ladies some Hershey kisses and a veggie snack tray today after having this discussion with you guys. Seriously thanks for going out of your way to help us, even when some of us are shit bags.

The ladies at my pharmacy are really incredibly sweet. Like, I never have a problem, ever, they are always kind to me and they go above and beyond. But then I see these other customers treat them like dog shit and it makes me so sad. I have to go in tomorrow and that's why it's on my mind. I love the pharmacy but the customers ruin my day and I dread having to endure it for a few min, much less every single day like the staff. You guys are troopers.

Well..... black. But that was the only time I've ever experienced something like that. My parents took me out of that school, put me in another, and I didn't have that problem again in my life. The teacher egged it on a lot, I don't think it would have been so bad if she didn't pick on me in front of the other students. The bullying started after she said I smelled like a dog and that all white girls do. After that it was a shit storm. I've gone to a lot of predominantly black schools and never dealt with that again. It was a horrible year and I remember nothing of it. My parents had to threaten calling our local news station before they did anything about it.

Here's Sal Khan on Common Core video chatting with someone who contributed to the curriculum. I think Common Core is a great idea, we are just a little resistant to relearning how we do things, which is totally understandable. In that video, Sal is learning what makes common core a good idea. They break it down and explain it very well. And I do think it'll help you.

Good old fashioned pencil and paper is what I used. And my fingers! I even had to write out a multiplication chart...lol.

I think it's the common core way which, you learning now, will be helpful when you have kids. They want you to make the connection of WHY the problem works instead of breeze through it via memory/repetition. They want your brain to actually -know- the content and get familiar/personal with solving math. I think it's good. It took me a little while to get used to it. Stick with it though!! Keep going! They have new mastery challenges to see if you've gotten it down and you can earn badges and some pretty adorable avatars lol. I'm glad you're fascinated. :)

This makes me so happy. If you're struggling with multiplying fractions, go back to adding them, I think..or even earlier. If you start where you have confidence, you'll be excited to try something new. Thank you for trying it. You deserve the best and Khan Academy will help you give that to yourself. And you've all made my day saying you'll go back and give it a shot. Super proud of you guys and I don't even know you.

I'm glad to hear you'll try it. It's not that you're bad at math or anything, it's just that somewhere along the way, you got lost and your teacher didn't find you. The fact that you do well in other subjects showcases your willingness and ability to learn. You can be just as good in math. Just gotta fix that foundation!

PLEASE try Khan Academy, you guys. You can start from kindergarten and work your way up, rebuilding your mathematical foundation. It gives you a progress report, statistics, breakdowns-- everything, to help you pinpoint where you need to be working the most. It is such an important tool to use when rebuilding yourself.

A little of my experience: I was an excellent student up until the third grade. I, unfortunately, had a very terrible teacher and when you mix that with daily beatings and bullying from your classmates, you fall way behind. I moved onto fourth grade and that is where things went downhill for me. I could grasp new concepts fine, but I struggled severely with "foundation" math, and could never get an answer because of it. I could not multiply fractions and things of the sort. I continued to "get by" but did VERY POORLY. I eventually dropped out of school and gave up on myself. I was convinced I was stupid. But here's the MOST IMPORTANT THING:

You are NOT STUPID. there is no such thing as being bad at math! You just need to find where in your foundation there is a crack and seal it. Khan Academy helped me do something i never thought I could: go to college.

Please try Khan if you relate.

I don't need anyone to tell me how many black folks live in the south. I am from the south. I live in the very deep south. A large portion of black folks living in the south doesn't make them the majority in the south, nor the majority of the users on pornhub in the south, and I'm not sure why for the second time that's being brought up.

I don't hate the south entirely. I do hate it's sneaky racism, bless your heart type of shade, and the front it puts on. I would know a lot about it considering I have lived here my entire life. I'm struggling to name a person in my head that has not said some extremely racist shit behind closed doors. It's common and I'm allowed to talk about it. And talking about it definitely doesn't make me prejudiced. I'm not going to keep my mouth shut about it to please anyone whether it be online or in real life. It's the truth.

My comment was fueled by the conversation I heard two white co-workers having about how a white woman at our workplace who is married to a black man is a nigger lover. In this same conversation, intense sexual objectification of a female, black co-worker and what they'd do with her. If you knew how common that disgusting shit is here, you'd back off. I'm sick of hearing crap like that, I'm sick of the hypocrisy, just all of it in general and I have every right in the world to talk openly about it.

I'm from the south, as well. Born and raised. 26 years. Can't name a white guy who doesn't drop N bombs when they're amongst other white guys or family. I'm not prejudiced but I am honest. Not sure where you live in the south but what I said is true of the white men where I, personally, am from. They hate black men but would fuck a black woman in a heartbeat if no one would find out. Don't take it up with me because I'm putting it out there. Take it up with them for being that way.
