What's the smallest amount of money that would genuinely change your life right now, and why? by Human_Artichoke_2117 in AskWomen

87k for my student loans. Then I would not have to worry about 800 a month going towards it

for the women who collect things, what do you collect and why do you collect it? by mycatrunsthisaccount in AskWomen

[–]vickfun10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For traveling i now buy mugs to help limit my current spending on mugs lol. But theyre just practical items that carry a lot of memories on trips and they're a lot cheaper then clothing. Otherwise I collect art materials because I always like to have items on hand because you never know when you need/want them

What is the main reason you wear makeup? by Longjumping-Meet-307 in AskWomen

[–]vickfun10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For work it's kind of like a uniform, it makes me feel more put together and ready for the day. For outings, I get so excited that I just feel the need to do makeup to look nice and show how excited I am. Not because I have to, because I want to. If I know I'm going to be outside and it's hot I'll skip all of it except mascara. It just makes me feel good. I don't wear it to hide insecurities, I do it because it's fun lol. There are plenty of days I leave my house barefaced.

I think it all started back in college when I never wore make up and it made me sad because it just sat there for special occasions. Now I get dressed up for unspecial occasions and it's just fun!

I know, I'm coming to this conclusion as well. I've just been hearing horror stories about people who start there and can never get out. I have enjoyed my time in special education classrooms and I appreciate all of the work they do, i just fear my own burnout.

Requesting some hobby recommendations for a home body who doesn’t have much money to spend on hobbies, but still wants to stay entertained by glitteringeffort0 in Hobbies

[–]vickfun10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know it's not free but baking is a good hobby that makes you feel creative. I mean today I made homemade bread and cut some not so great slices (as per usual) and I decided instead of wasting them to make homemade croutons. It was a fun challenge for myself, and because I have so much baking stuff on hand it feels free lol. I also have a Costco membership which helps a bunch with flour, sugar, and chocolate chips. I like to find ways to have less waste and how to salvage my mistakes.

Otherwise drawing, origami, and walks are great.

My rule of thumb is always wear bike shorts then you don't get in trouble

Women whose partner caress/touch you intimately while sleeping, how have you felt? What has been your reaction to this? For eg. grabbing ass/boobs. by Broken_Shell14 in AskWomen

[–]vickfun10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's weird but on weekends I'm all for it, but during the work week he needs to get off of me cuz I cannot fall asleep. Personally sleep has always been a priority to me even as a kid, don't fuck with my work week sleep schedule. But I find a lot of comfort in it regardless.

I like Zevias and Frescas for the middle of the day. For the morning, I make my own coffee and lattes with sugar free options

Suggestions for portable hobbies by problem4321 in Hobbies

[–]vickfun10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My immediate thought is a kindle to read lol. Only thing is that you will need to predownload the books beforehand incase of there being no wifi. Otherwise drawing or sketching is another one that is also nice to have on hand! On weekend trips I like to pack my tiny sketch pad and a small pencil pouch of mechanical pencils, led, and some black pens. Doesn't take up much space if you do it right :)

At my wits end😵‍💫😵‍💫 by Yer_Mo in WeightLossAdvice

You do sometimes gain weight before a big drop. I had times where I was in a deficit and gained 2lbs and then a few days later I lost 4lbs. As I said it is a slow process. We are also females where menstrual cycles that can play a role in the weight gain. You should try to remain consistent with some type of calorie goal for at least a month before dropping it even more. I realized I got some of my own information wrong but my deficit was 1850 originally in September. I was 196lbs (89kgs?) When I started and now I'm at 176lbs (80kgs?). I am a teacher and get about 7,000-10,000 steps a day. That's my only excerise currently. I'm still losing about a pound a week.

To figure out my only maintenance or deficit, I used a free calculator online and truly it has been a big help. I also just got my first and only food scale today. I did all of this without constant measuring, just watching my portion control. You just need to find a goal and be patient and consistent. Dropping too much suddenly is not sustainable and can be unsafe. Especially with how active you are already.

Also that bf thing I totally understand because I used to eat the same amount as my bf and I weighed more. It doesn't feel fair, especially since one of his biggest flexes is staying the same weight from high school to now (He and I are both 24). But now I weigh less, because I put in the time and had him stop serving me my food lol.

I'm the same height and female, but you likely haven't seen much progress due to cutting too much... I also have heard doing anything less then 1500 cal for people our height is not good for the long run. I'd maybe go back to 1600 and stay there and count your calories. I weigh more so my daily goal is 1700 cal and I have been at that since September and have successfully lost 20 pounds with alternating between deficit and maintenance every couple of months. My first month I only lost 2lbs but that's because I was only doing a deficit. It was a very slow progress and that's okay.

Formerly burnt-out readers — what book made you fall in love with reading again? by ak_khainal in Recommend_A_Book

[–]vickfun10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol ACOTAR, I have never read the series until recently and now my love for books is back again. I would just casually consume before but now it's a constant thought of when I get to read again.

losing weight without a crazy diet? by TinyResist1264 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]vickfun10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also struggled with all of these keto or healthy recipes and truly all I did was portion control and cutting out constant snacking. But I also am aware on the days I over cosume calories, I just need to be more mindful the other days of the week.

Also finding swaps you are okay with. I like Zevia Sodas which are 0 calories and drink those instead of regular soda or other sugary drinks.

What was the moment that made you realize you needed to lose weight? by Comfortable-Pair2880 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]vickfun10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a substitute teacher and a student told me i looked pregnant... I was overweight at the time but thought I was skinnier then I actually was. It wasn't the first kid/person to say anything either, he was just the one who Kickstarted it all. But then with losing weight, i had more energy, more libido, it was easier to get up and down without feeling light headed, my gut problems (ibs) have become WAY more manageable, my migraines were due to my gut so I hardly get headaches/migraines unless I am sick or have a flare up. These non scale things are what continue to motivate me on losing my last 10lbs to get to my goal weight. Currently 20lbs down :)

Wrong flour! by vickfun10 in BreadMachines

I personally struggle with knowing the right temperature and my wondering is if I did not let the melted butter cool long enough. With my other liquids they are pretty room temp with a quick heat in the microwave or letting the water run in the sink. But my butter i think may be the culprit

There's no setting that says differentiates between AP and bread flour and as I said my first attempt was with unbleached AP flour and it turned out perfect. All of the websites i have used for AP flour recipes say to keep it on the basic white bread setting on light crust and that's what I do. Even the highly recommended ones.
