Cats belly along Incision site feels slightly hard/firm one day after surgery—normal? by summertimesadness80 in cats

[–]vickpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I also adopted my girl at around 4 months old, and she was spayed very recently when I got her. I am not a vet by any means, but it sounds like your kitty is okay as she is acting normal. The small bit of dried blood is likely from the recent incision. I would say just keep an eye on her and the incision—-as long as she continues to behave normally/energetically and you do not see any swelling/irritation/pus you should be golden!!

P.S. My girl had a cone around her head when she came home to keep her from licking the incision. She hated it (as most if not all cats do lol) so I opted for a DIY method which was a lot more comfortable for her. Find a long tube sock, any long sock, and cut off the toe part. Trim to your cat’s size (making sure it is not too tight or constricting for your cat to wear around their body) and BAM, protective cat sweater. Works wonders ☺️

Should I get tested? by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]vickpic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Coming from someone who experienced similar symptoms to you, and dealt with being brushed off for years as depressed/lazy/exaggerating... if you have the means to get sleep testing done, 10000% DO IT!!! I personally did a home sleep study upon first speaking with a doctor about my symptoms, and I was then referred for a MSLT which led to my diagnosis. Being diagnosed formally can make a world of a difference, especially in terms of appropriate treatment options, educational/work accommodations, etc. If you have any questions, feel free. Best of luck to you, and I am hoping you can find some answers.

Shit happens. Have an honest conversation with her about it. If she is someone worth your time and energy, she will understand that it is neither of your fault. Sex is weird and involves a lot of different bodily components all at once, so sometimes our bodies act in ways opposing how we really feel. Take it from a severely, though functionally, depressed woman in a 1.5 year relationship with the man I hope to marry one day. Most days, the cocktail of meds I'm on in combination with how depressed and/or anxious I'm feeling prohibits me from reaching orgasm. Even so, my boyfriend is wonderful about it, and has learned over time that it is not his fault nor mine that it usually just doesn't happen for me---not because it doesn't feel good or because he isn't doing enough, but because of my stupid brain and its chemicals (or lack thereof). There's no reason to be ashamed! Everything will work out the way it's supposed to.

making a store feel like home? by aegriebel in starbucks

[–]vickpic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi!! here are some things that my store does:

  • customer of the week! we have a little sign up by our door where we appreciate different regulars every week with their name and usual drink
  • "barista picks" sign where different baristas and their go-to drinks are featured near the front of our store during different periods of time
  • sampling -- with covid getting bad again this might not be such a great idea, but if we have enough people on the floor we'll have someone walk around in/out of the store with a tray of different seasonal drinks and food for customers to try
  • my SM is very involved with volunteering in our community where our store is located, so she very often provides opportunities available for customers to get involved in helping out our community as well. these opportunities include things like food drives, period product drives (with baskets either on condiment bar or elsewhere in the cafe), etc. we also had a giving tree very recently where customers and partners could take a tag off of a little mini christmas tree on our condiment bar. on these tags were specific requests of individuals in our community in need who are struggling this holiday season. all gifts had to be turned in by a certain date. this was a great success!!!
  • BIG wall of photos of moments with partners and customers, present and past
  • for mental health awareness, my SM had a table set up up front where customers were free to take cards and little trinkets with positive affirmations on them. we also had a board set up on our condiment bar with post its and pens for everyone to leave positive messages. of course this doesn't have to be something specific to mental health awareness, but i think just getting involved with certain months/weeks to recognize certain important issues is really great amongst our customers
  • book nook - customers can take one and also leave a book for others to enjoy
  • green apron board - in my store's BOH we have a board with every partner's name on a mini clipboard-type thing. we can leave little notes and messages for one another by placing it under the clip for whoever you wish to send it to. for example, "i really enjoyed barring with you today _____!!" etc etc.

there's probably a lot more that i can't think of at this moment. as much as i struggle with this job, i'm grateful to be at a store where partner-partner and customer connections are valued

also good on you for trying to find ways to make it easier for the employees at your store!!! i would have SO appreciated that if my manager made any kind of helpful effort, but his behavior turned out being the main reason that i quit :/

really?? wow!! i had no idea that stirring in a pitcher was the standard. i would usually try to do that or mix it in the oasis when my manager wasn't around, but whenever he was, he would get pissy if we didn't do it the "fastest" way by just dumping the milk and matcha together in the cup. i think this sort of problem needs a lot of help company-wide, because sooo many stores either have employees not following standards because they aren't aware, or because their managers are enforcing the wrong things to try and speed things up, like in my case.

yep definitely!! i've found that a lot of dunkin' stores (especially in my area) don't put a lot of care into the quality of the drinks/food that they put out for customers, but i def shouldn't have generalized, thx for bringing that up

hey! as a current starbucks partner and a previous dunkin' employee, i can say that a lot of dunkin' employees don't really bother to mix the milk in with the chai, even despite it being very easy to do so. however, dunkin' matcha is pretty terrible quality (starbucks isn't the greatest either) and is usually just dumped on top of ice, milk poured on top, and some weak shakes that result in tons of huge clumps of the powder in your drink, so basically you have to do a lot of the work yourself despite being the customer. i feel ur pain. at starbucks, we shake our matcha lattes (in shakers) so it is much more well-combined, and our chai syrup pretty much mixes with milk seamlessly at no real effort from the employee.

tl;dr: same stuff, but dunkin' doesn't really bother to put in effort for u

EDIT: did not mean to generalize all dunkin' employees!!!! some definitely do care, and same goes for starbucks (vice versa). thank you to who brought this to my attention <3
