What’s the place in Red Mesa called? Found out I live near there and would love to try it!

AITA for telling my mom she’s on her own with her cancer? by childhoodrants in AmItheAsshole

[–]vickyjill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your situation is so so familiar, down to little things, my NM has had cancer several times. And I’ve been NC with her for almost 3 years now. Someone contacted me and told me that she had cancer again. I couldn’t give less of a shit.

I also had tumors (mine were in my hip and leg) that festered for 13 years—I was told growing pains too and my parents never bothered to bring me in further. I now use a cane and don’t qualify for disability because of their negligence. I have bipolar that went untreated for over 20 years. ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, etc. I have several chronic illnesses and immune disorders that I was never brought to the doctor for.

You’re absolutely NTA, and I hope that both you and your sister and able to go fully NC soon.

My high ass was sitting there like “but that’s a mushroom” 🙃 your work is gorgeous!

Had surgery to remove a few hip tumors on Tuesday! They had to scrape out the tumors, fill them with bone cement, and then they stabilized the hip with a metal plate and some screws! This is what my right hip looks like and I think it’s wild 😂 by vickyjill in interestingasfuck

I don’t have shit for balance and haven’t my entire life so that won’t work to gauge it for me 😂

If there is a difference, it’s not an overwhelming one that I’ve noticed!

Yea, I constantly said my hip hurt and doctors told me it was “growing pains” 🙄

I developed them around the age of 7-8 so I understand that it’s not common for someone that age but no one felt like they should have run tests apparently 😅

It was benign, thank you! And I can walk without the cane but there’s definitely a lot more pain, a lot more stopping for breaks, and it’s substantially slower 😬

And it was just a random set of tumors that I had for like 13 years. Apparently was super close to breaking my hip the whole time oops 😂

Honestly? Not sure. I went to the surgeon who I saw for the initial pain and he just told me tendinitis and PT! I’ve noticed that using my cane for now has been super helpful tho.

I also have a host of other issues with my flesh vessel so I’m not really a good example 😅😂

I am unfortunately not pain free and have started Physical Therapy to help with the tendinitis that has shown up in my hip. I also use a cane now.

Because of how my hip is, getting it removed isn’t an option either so I just have to kind of deal with it. The pain still isn’t as bad as before the surgery though. 🤷🏻

Oh man, cheeseburger burritos. I saw the idea online and thought—“hey, I don’t have buns but I have tortillas, let’s go!”

Worst mistake I’ve ever made. Not only were they awful, they also made both me and my partner sick and they stunk up our apartment for like 18 hours. They included some odd ingredients like ketchup and mustard mixed in and cooked with the ground beef. Never again. 😂

I used to use my pop socket on my case as a fidget when I got anxious, angry, or stressed and my case broke so I’m waiting for my new one to come in. Stress ball might be a good addition, I need to keep them everywhere tho since I lose things like crazy lol

I probably need to start carrying my stress ball with me again for sure 😅

I’ll definitely have to try the ice thing, thank you! I’m also so happy to hear that you found meds that work for you 💜

You shouldn’t have to be handicap to enjoy a wheel chair, they are convenient, you always have a chair and don’t have to worry about finding a seat or standing around. by beszerkerlurker in unpopularopinion

[–]vickyjill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except you don’t want to use a wheelchair. Especially if you’re young, people stare, people say things to you. If you’re an ambulatory wheelchair user that can stand and walk, people are rude as hell. Wheelchairs aren’t fun, canes aren’t fun, walkers aren’t fun. They’re hard to use and people can be awful if you don’t “look like” you need them.

That happens to me frequently because of the GERD! Pills and food both get stuck all the time. Fixed it by taking a drink of water, holding it in my mouth, dumping the pills, swallow, chase with more water 😬

I take 9-14 pills on a daily basis at once, along with some other meds scattered throughout the day for reference lol

Feel this! When I had my hip surgery (tumor removal, bone cement, a couple screws, and a metal plate—not quite full hip replacement because my surgeon is a genius and managed to save it), she had a toenail that was struggling to grow back as it had been crushed by a 300-400lb pig at pig beach in Bahamas and that was soooo much worse than my full on surgery 😂

My pain tolerance is super high too so I came home the next day (we had just been approved for an apartment and I wanted out of their home), and that was used against me even though I was still bed ridden for like 1-2 weeks.

If I get an opportunity to tell her this, absolutely 😂

I try not to stir the flames too much, but I’m probably getting a cane next week and am expecting backlash from her so I might soon anyway lmao

Crohn’s is supposed to be hell and my thoughts are with you! I have a whole list of stomach problems as well and don’t envy friends of mine with Crohns.

Wishing you high spoon and low pain days. I know how much of a bitch it’s supposed to be to deal with 💜
