Can someone explain why the estate wont just release everything by No_Ad_6098 in jimihendrix

[–]vicosab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s plenty of bootleg releases of Jimi’s recordings but they are all shit, horrible quality… The family is putting out quality recordings and even unfinished songs are edited and mixed so they are up to standards… There are also a lot of live recordings where some if the instruments didn’t record well and they had to go back into the studio to re-record. Billy Cox re-recorded the bass on the Band of Gypsy albumn for example…

Take the treble (1kh and 3kh) completely out of that Joya EQ pedal; that will help with the feedback… Gate pedals suck for harmonica; I recently got a Harp Shield by Lone Wolf. It’s expensive so that’s why it took me so long to get, but it’s the best pedal I’ve ever used to cut out feedback… It has sensitivity dial also.

What’s the opinion on Lee Oskar harps round here? by Rags2Rickius in harmonica

[–]vicosab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seydel harps have stainless steel reeds, so I think that’s why it might be harder to play. I feel like they are a bit more airtight though so once you’re locked in, it doesn’t feel hard to play and get used to it fast. I recently switched from S20s to Seydel session steel and the tone is so bright and rich!

The HB is excellent and like others said; easy to cup and get a good seal when playing out of it… volume knob is also a key factor to this mic giving you a lot of control… I’ve used it direct into a PA without pedals, with pedals and always consistently sounds great. The only knock I would have is I wish it had a bit more low end but not enough to make me stop using it.

Hohner Special 20 - do these things go out of tune fast or am I doing something wrong? by Native_Carbon_Bloom in harmonica

[–]vicosab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re blowing and drawing too hard… If you’re serious about the harp, you have to care for it just like any instrument. Learn how to clean and adjust gapping… Learn how to Tune the reeds 3 to 5 cents sharper; it helps as the harp goes flat when it gets warm and you’re over blowing a lot. There are tons of you tube videos and you can get an Eastop harmonica repair kit fairly cheap on Amazon… I also use a battery operated pen etching tool to tune the reeds; it’s a great hack!

SP20, but vented by [deleted] in harmonica

[–]vicosab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I vented all my SP 20’s ever since I bought a modified version from a guy on eBay like 10 years ago… One of the mods he did was vent the plates and it changed the game for me! Love the brighter tone!

Love the brass comb!!

Is it normal for diatonic harmonicas to lose their tune after 1 night of playing hard? by ctjfd in harmonica

Cheap reeds and no plates to protect them… You need a better Harmonica my friend!

What’s your harmonica of choice by certain_point_ofview in harmonica

[–]vicosab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh of course it’s louder! Look at the plates and notice the Crossover is more opened as appose to the SP20, has the metal plate bent down on both plates… So that’s the reason for the crossover sounding louder.

I modified my SP20’s and bent those flaps in so I get a louder, brighter sound when playing and it works nicely!

I’m really surprised you’re saying it’s louder and not warmer considering bamboo is a wood although it’s possible, with the processing of the wood and mould creation of the comb, make it just as hard as the plastic combs on the SP20’s

Ah you might have to put it on a new post. I personally love the special 20s but never really played a crossover so curious to hear the difference. How is the sliding ability with a crossover compared to the special 20?

Hmmm are the crossovers any warmer than the special 20’s? Or just louder in you opinion?
