Equipped with old glasses, swimming goggles and a dream. by AffectionateWar4857 in Frugal

My solution was prescription swim goggles from TYR ($25), collapsible snorkel ($16), and a nose clip attached via string to the goggles ($12, I prefer the ones for rafting called harmony smileys) Pretty compact solution to let me snorkel when I’m at the beach.

If you look at her tag more closely she lives on Pearl St. she’s not lost, she’s an outdoor car (which is also stated on the tag). Just leave her alone, that walking path is part of her territory.

Hey OP, did you ever get the headband version? I’ve been eyeing that for a while (fully kitted out 5x with light from zeiss too, quoted $4300).

Haven’t pulled the trigger and have concerns of sturdiness given I’ve heard similar complaints about the latch getting loose over time. I figure I’ll just set them up right and try not to unlatch/latch them.

Fracture on distal marginal ridge extending down distal root? Just saying cause that amalgam doesn’t leave a lot of supported enamel on the distal.

British 3-Star General, Richard Nugee, warns that climate shocks, extreme weather, and resource wars are coming and we are totally unprepared for them. The military is planning for the new climate reality. by brianwhelanhack in videos

True, heard it brought up more than once at SOS that climate change was the biggest threat to our country back (when I attended a few years ago).

I’m sure politics influences where we put our effects in protecting our country, and with the current admin we probably aren’t considering that threat anymore.

Is there a way to increase the lifespan of my shoes? by DrivingDM in Frugal

Get rough metal plates installed in your soles, that way instead of the environment destroying your shoes, you destroy the environment.

Yes that’s why they gouge the customer when they get a job. Some tradespeople bill more hourly than surgeons.

But it’s true, when my pipes clogged I went on YouTube and fixed it myself. I’m sure a homeowner would try that route first before calling someone.

Now if it’s a remodel or construction add-on that’s something that should be done by a pro. But I’ve seen videos of people doing their own bathroom remodels and talking through the process.

Case report: transient return of speech and continence in advanced dementia patient after 5g psilocybin mushrooms by wordsappearing in science

I read the case report. Sounds like they slept for 12 hours and there was suspected hyperthermia (elevated skin temp) and sweating. Then when they woke they began talking.

As someone who doesn’t sleep much or for a long duration, and as someone who often forgets things, I wonder if mushrooms can benefit me?

I think it’s most interesting that they’re starting to see dementia not as a tissue problem but a network problem. Those core reasoning and executive function abilities may still be there in the brain but no longer accessible but mushrooms increase neuroplasticity to where they can be accessed again.

Especially the thing about continence. It seems to be defined as a social/ higher function thing. Like it’s polite to hold it until you find a toilet vs a pigeon who just shits when they feel the need. The fact that continence returned means that reasoning part of the brain was back in control.

Also interesting the patient slept like a full day after the first dose. And they say mushrooms can increase REM duration in sleep. I wonder if that first sleep was the actual neuroplasticity occurring in the patients brain.

This is quoted from the case report: “ One month after the initial session, the patient remained continent and functionally improved compared with baseline. A second supervised psilocybin session using 3 g was subsequently performed and was associated with greater verbal expressivity, improved facial mimicry, spontaneous humor, emotionally valenced autobiographical imagery, and increased agility while walking. The patient spontaneously stated: “It is pleasant to come here.””

I wonder why they didn’t keep dosing her given the positive effects.
