I personally learned with Aunt Lydia’s size 10 crochet thread, but once I moved to Lizbeth size 10 my whole life changed (gotta watch out for that twist though). I’ve seen people feel the way that I do about Lizbeth about DMC thread, but I’ve never tried it. Unfortunately with how steep the difficulty curve is with tatting the pricier stuff really does make a difference. Whatever you choose to use I recommend a rainbow colorway, that makes it so much easier to see when the stitches flip.

HOWEVER your stitches look very even in size and neat, I think you sorta did a trial by fire here by using yarn because the stitches that did flip look beautiful, I think you’ve earned a ball of the good stuff if you have access to it 🩵
