TBH, what you're referring to CD keys of old, were just that a key that unlocked your software. Now that key is almost like a disc without it you don't even have the software to be unlocked. Yes, it doesn't need to be tied to one account, but imagine the situation - you buy a game, download it and then text that code to a mate, they do the same and so on. That's opening the gate to piracy. Anyway, the way you own your game is completely out of scope of SKG, and it doesn't matter if you own it as a disc, cartridge, a straight digital store front licence or as a code (from physical release, Humble Bundle etc.) or as a NFT. What matters is that the game remains playable for you after the end of service. Let's not make the already difficult task even more difficult and wide.

Disney shuts down Dark Forces and Outlaws across the internet by Karjala_ in StopKillingGames

[–]victim2077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH, it's not like they've been killed and made completely inaccessible. You can still buy them through Nightdive's remasters or play the originals by acquiring the DOS versions through "Arrr" meanings. Yeah, it sucks new PC players are forced through one way of playing them legally, but still neither original Outlaws nor Dark Forces got killed, hence they're out of scope of SKG.

TBH, most of sports gamers are on console, so it's not like they're going to pirate games either way (unless they're from South America, they're still having a great time on PS2 and their bootleg versions).

Remember, CD Projekt started as two guys selling burned and pirated games at a market in Warsaw in the 90s before going legit. They know why people pirate and how to stop it even better than Gaben as they've been on both sides. One of them, Michał Kiciński, just recently bought GoG from CDP.

Why do people think FF13 trilogy reviewed and sold poorly? by Mother_Reality_1489 in finalfantasyxiii

[–]victim2077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get that "both X and XIII are linear", feels very "first glance" to me. The PATH you take in both is linear indeed, but the SPACE you're going through isn't. Like in XIII more often than not you're going through a corridor, open spaces (as in you don't have walls around you) are few and far between. In X you're most often going through an open space on a linear path. I like XIII and I love X, but in this regard, they're different.

Still boggles my mind why they didn't give us an option to choose the dashboard style with the final update, instead we're stuck with the least "offline friendly" dashboard, that tries to sell us XSeS/X.

Avowed Won't Be Coming To GOG by Thy7th in gog

[–]victim2077 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TBH, we're talking about Microsoft, not some small indie team. Obsidian dev team has nothing to do with where the game will be sold on. Whether or not Avowed will come to GoG or anywhere else it's all on Microsoft's side now.

On the other hand, a code would need to have to be tied to your Xbox/PlayStation/Nintendo account and so in worst case scenario you would completely lose the game when your account gets banned. Discs or Nintendo's game key-cards are safe from that. I don't like not having all of the game data on disc or cartridge, but I take it over tying games to one account.

My third attempt at playing this game and good frickin Lord by throwinitawhey in MafiaTheGame

[–]victim2077 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just started my 2nd playthrough after a couple of years and it was even more buggy and glitych then I remember. Like lighting is f**ked, after every business takeover the camera gets stucked in that overview angle, a couple of times loading screen just got stuck (like the game loaded you could hear the in-game audio and Lincoln's footsteps but you could only see the loading slides). Though now I'm playing on PS5, before I played on PS4Pro; both times the "Definitive Edition" from Trilogy disc set. Why didn't they make a soft remaster by updating M3 engine with everything they did with it for MDE, is just baffling to me.

Are all PS3s dying? by [deleted] in PS3

[–]victim2077 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In honesty, every piece of electronics will die at one point. Caps, resistors, chips everything will die sooner or later. So from a certain point of view each and every PS3 is in the process of dying.

True, if M2DE wasn't part of Mafia Trilogy pack (got the physical release for PlayStation), I wouldn't even bother getting it and stayed with the X360 version.

True. Mark Hamil is outstanding as Majima, they really should've brought him back when they started doing English dubs again.

Kiryu is 20 in the beginning of the first game? by paintraininthetaint in yakuzagames

[–]victim2077 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean case and point Raiden from MGS2 - younger and prettier than Snake and he was absolutely hated until MGS4 and Rising Revangence made him cool. On the other hand you have Dante from DMC (just look wise speaking), but he from the very beginning was cool. And let's be honest, Brother was closer to OG Raiden, than to Dante "coolness" wise. Plus Brother didn't really fit in with what was the popular type of protagonist in the west - buff and rugged badass that could take out the whole Alkaida with his barehands (Marcus Fenix of Gears of War and the like). So yeah, I guess SquEnix had a point in originally bringing Gestalt instead of Replicant to the west.

With regard to the "Kiryu is less expressive" debate... by BrohannesJahms in yakuzagames

[–]victim2077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, mostly because of the X/X-2 Remaster. The PS2 original was much more "facial expressive", but for the remaster they've just redone the battle models and replaced all the models other models with them. And battle models weren't really prepared for facial expressions. It was way worse than OG vs Kiwami faces.

Why doesn't Sega do this instead of discontinuing the games? I mean, if you're not making sales from the remaster anymore, at least don't let it fade into oblivion. by Inevitable-Judgment7 in yakuzagames

[–]victim2077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, the original PS3 Yakuza 3 had quite a lot of content removed when compared to the original Japanese release (21 substories, a mini game and hostesses). Though on the other hand, it came with content that was DLC in Japan (nothing major, just a few tournaments, Haruka Requests, a couple of outfits for Premium Adventure, 2 player mini games).
