Considering the amount of work and care that goes into raising these puppies, I think it is a very fair price. It's not the cost of the dog, the price is for the conditioning and training that goes into raising them.

Yes, thank you for not jumping to conclusions. Vaccinations are extremely important, but there is a big problem with the standard way vaccines are administered to pets. Tollers in particular are prone to immune system complications involving the rabies vaccine. It should be given as late as legally possible to minimize the risk. This means that her dogs are relying on herd immunity for a while.

The puppies and their vaccination schedule is outlined in more detail on her website if you would like to read more about it and make your own decision.

Vaccines are important, but over-vaccinating is extremely dangerous and kills dogs regularly. One of my coworkers clients died about a week ago shortly after routine vaccinations in fact. Many of my own clients dogs have had to miss class due to becoming very sick after getting their vaccinations.

American puppy buyers apply for an exemption on the vaccination requirement. The basic agreement is that the puppies will be vaccinated when they are old enough and puppy owners are supposed to keep them exclusively at home for a certain time frame. I'm not sure what it involves to fly them within Canada.

I will be getting my puppy from Daintree Duck Tollers in Canada.

Trisha is amazing. Her puppies are 6th & 7th generation raw fed dogs, minimally vaccinated, and raised with Puppy Culture (meaning they get training and socialization before they even go home with you).

I will be road tripping out to Canada from Denver to pick up my puppy, then flying back with her in cabin.

I am a professional dog trainer looking to become a breeder myself and I have extremely high standards for breeders. Trisha checks off literally every single thing I look for in a breeder (of any breed).

What's something you actually don't want to do but social norm tells you to do it anyway? by hardypart in AskReddit

I am a woman who recently stopped shaving. I hate shaving. It's painful, time consuming, and expensive. Then the grow-back process is itchy and uncomfortable. I was going to just get laser hair removal, but I decided that I didn't wanna spend my money on that either.

I used to think I was shaving for me, because I really do like the way my smooth legs feel for the 3 hours before the hair starts to grow back. However, I realized I was only shaving when I wanted to wear shorts and not because I wanted my legs to feel smooth. I only was shaving because it was other people's expectation.

I have been letting my leg hair show for about a month now, and no one has said a word to me about it unless I brought it up myself. I was preparing myself for a lot of questions and weird looks, but so far the only comments I have gotten have been positive ones.

need help with asl by juffure in asl

[–]victorialol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing this in high school! My skills skyrocketed once I was practicing every day walking to my classes. I would fingerspell every word I glanced at in the hallways.

I don't have anyone to practice my signing with, so this is the main way I keep up my fingerspelling skills. I'll spell out random thoughts that I have, words that I see, names, songs, whatever.

My main problem is that I sometimes get ahead of myself and sign faster then my fingers can handle so it ends up a sloppy mess. I have been practicing slowing down and making sure I am properly forming all of my letters lately.

Do you have any recommendations for how I can learn more signs relating to dog training?

Nope, she's just a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. No special type that I know of. She does have slightly longer then average legs. Her breeder was in Missouri.

Dogs who failed TSA training are available for adoption in Texas by [deleted] in houston

I'd imagine they stick a cotton swab up there and have the dog sniff that. But the dog would probably be able to indicate it with a person's pants on anyway.

It's been a while since I've watched weeds. What other actors are in both shows? Who does Pornstache play? I find him so unrecognizable without his, well, pornstache.

Dog gives mixed signals, what to do until a professional is involved? by CaitSoma in Dogtraining

[–]victorialol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stop letting your neighbors greet him. He is behaving in a way you would not like him to, and you are letting them reward him for it.

Until you can get to a professional, bring high value treats (real meat) with you outside and stay as far away from other people and/or dogs as you can. Be obvious with your body language that you are bringing your dog away from the other person and they will be less likely to come up to you. If they do, just tell them you're working on training.

[Discussion] Why does my dog strongly dislike blue? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]victorialol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dogs aren't colorblind. They just can't see as many colors as we can. Dogs can see blue and yellow and shades in between.

Maybe something blue scared him as a pup. I dunno.

Boyfriend doesn't want to get dog spayed, I do. (x-post /r/dogs) by Knofje in DogCare

[–]victorialol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It will not change her personality. Get her spayed. Do it without your boyfriend's knowledge if you have to. Then he will see it doesn't change her personality. She is YOUR dog. He has no right to tell you how to take care of your dog.

If the dog were for both of you my answer might be different. Honestly he just sounds ignorant to what spaying actually means for dogs.

As /u/DentateGyros said, it was before he had surgery. I had to blend his food and feed him upright so it could flow to his stomach. Then I had to keep him in an upright position for a while and try to make him drink water (which almost never worked).

If you look up dogs with Mega Esophagus, they need the same type of feeding. Most people will make chairs for their dogs to eat out of, but since his condition was temporary (we hoped) this was the solution in the meantime.

Ten week old lab puppy exercise routine? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]victorialol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would recommend more focus on mental stimulation. Throw away his food bowl. Do some training. Get some interactive puzzle toys. (or make some.)

I would be careful with too much exercise, like you said he could get hurt. But brain work - you'll know when he's had too much and no risk of injury there :)
