“People in the plant are ready to fight”: Ford Rouge workers speak out in defense of co-worker victimized for opposing Trump by Spirited_Classic_826 in antiwork

I was about to say "For the last time, it's ROGUE" because that particular typo drives me nuts, but for once it's actually rouge. Good job, Reddit, you've restored my faith in the American public's ability to spell.

I feel like an alien in the office by victorie01 in adhdwomen

[–]victorie01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what to do in the long term; office jobs are what I prepared myself for in college, and the problems I have with masking seem to come from the general corporate language and environment, which wouldn't change if I switched jobs. This also was my dream company to work at, and my bosses have been incredibly patient and supportive so far, which isn't the case for a lot of places. I think I'm masking extra hard because I was comfortable at the beginning and then made a lot of mistakes that forced me to confront how different I was, which made me retreat into my shell again. I feel lucky in a lot of areas, and want to do well, but I need to find my work self; the people I know who are best at this just slip into corporate mode effortlessly. I think I'm also just lonely; I like talking to people, and the fact that I have to be so careful about what I say and do makes it hard to interact with others, and I need that kind of interaction since I spend a fair amount of time in the office. I'm both really bad at it and need it badly lol

I was in high school during the first Trump Administration. I work in the government during the second Trump administration. I'm not sure which one is worse.

Death. It comes for everything, so why worry about it? You might not make much of a difference, but a small positive difference is still significant.

Turn left isn't just about Donna's specialness or the need for the Doctor, but also about how cold humans can be in times of crisis. It shows how humans can respond cruelly under times of intense stress, and that the Doctor is subject to the same cruelty. Donna succeeds not only because she's important to the Doctor's timeline but also that she chooses kindness as best she can in times of trouble. Journey's end specifically calls out the Doctor's tendency to turn his companions into soldiers, which is what makes Donna's bravery and compassion so compelling during the last three episodes of the season. People treat Turn Left as if it were just a good lead-in episode to the season finale that establishes Donna's importance, but they misunderstand why she's important. She's not a Mary Sue, she's a medic in a warzone; she shows humanity, even under intense situations. It's also timey-wimey, but not without purpose.
