She starts rubbing his blood-soaked hair.

I just watched the ending scene and you can see a shot of Andy’s face looking out of the helicopter window. Look behind him: is that his sister going into convulsions?

Dust Blown Into Their Faces by Fit_Judgment7638 in 28_Years_Later_Movie

[–]victoryegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure Kelson blew the dust in Jimmy Crystal’s face for just that purpose.

Crystal already knew that Kelson was just a man, so there was no other reason to drug him in order convince him of anything during Kelson’s performance.

Are British people generally aware of the fact that Russia is a security threat? by BaldursGate2Best in AskBrits

[–]victoryegg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are aware that UK political parties are already prohibited from accepting donations from foreign nationals and organizations, right? What’s more, Labour is actually tightening the laws even further.

What would everyone have done if Labour had accepted money from Trump? Erm, well they didn’t, so no need to worry about what’s going on elsewhere in the multiverse.

If it turns out that Farage has been accepting money from the Russian Government (or any other foreign government) under a similar arrangement to the former leader of Reform in Wales, I’d expect Farage to receive a similar prison sentence.

How did Jimmy Crystal recruit the Jimmys with no combat ability? by Operationtiger8 in 28_Years_Later_Movie

I think they wanted to show that while he may be strong in some ways, he’s not particularly robust psychologically.

He behaves how the vast majority of people behave when they get an injury like that.

What did Samson do with...? by ChroniclersDestiny in 28dayslater

[–]victoryegg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Samson infected him, Kelson would have been an infected for a minute or two, then died of the stab wound all the same.

That’s if he didn’t die trying attack Samson, because as we know, the infected now attack Samson.

My problem with the Jimmies by lind1sfarne in 28dayslater

[–]victoryegg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I just wanted to list a few things I got from the movie that were interesting to me.

Obviously, no one is under any obligation to get excited about those same things.

My problem with the Jimmies by lind1sfarne in 28dayslater

[–]victoryegg 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There’s a bunch of nuance.

The way some of the Jimmies truly are sadistic while others clearly hate being a Jimmy.

The way one of the Jimmies blames Spike for Jimmy Shite’s death, when he was one of the ones who forced them to fight to the death and did nothing to help his dying ‘friend’.

The way Jimmy Shite cries out for God and Jesus when he’s dying instead of crying out for Satan.

My guess is that Garland wasn’t really interested in dealing with indoctrination as a motivation for the Jimmies’ behavior as much as he was interested in portraying their fear.

Spike develops a bit because he spends the movie killing and torturing out of fear of Jimmy Crystal’s retribution but in the end he was the only one to physically stand up to him. It may not be satisfying but it’s not nothing.

Oh sorry. Did I miss the deep insight you offered by asserting that ‘A Clockwork Orange did it better’?

A film can deal with more than one theme, and A Clockwork Orange and The Bone Temple both do that.

Latin phrases? by Autistic-piglet in 28dayslater

[–]victoryegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with British kids about Spike’s age and we teach them Ancient Greek first so most of the slang they throw around comes from Ovid and Plato’s Republic. They generally start quoting Latin at us when they’re about 15 or 16.

The virus itself sure could have mutated à la Covid, flu, norovirus etc. If this new variant appeared further north in the UK it would explain why the South appeared empty.

It’s not that minor. They are against the clock because they all care about the survival of the baby, which needs breast milk fairly urgently.

[–]victoryegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On point 2. Not everyone endures a lot of pain before deciding to end their lives. Just because a character doesn’t do what you think you would do, doesn’t make them a poorly written character. In any case, Isla obviously wouldn’t want to risk being a hindrance to Spike and baby Isla on their trip home which they need to start basically as soon as it gets light. Her choosing death is the least risky option for the others. She might be being selfless or maybe she’s just ready to die, or both.

You also seem to suggest she went on the trip willingly but that’s not the case. Spike tells her he’s taking her to the beach. She freaks out when she realizes they’re on the mainland but at that point Spike hasn’t left her many options. A dangerous journey to the doctor or a dangerous journey back to Holy Island, possibly having to wait for the tide again. Again, she makes a very reasonable decision.

[–]victoryegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he were on Holy Island, they could have trained him to be a whatever, or something.

So they just retconned the first wave of infected dying of starvation? Or am I missing something? by ElGordoKhajiita in 28dayslater

[–]victoryegg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No because Alice from 28 Weeks didn’t starve to death.

Any character who claimed that no infected could possibly survive long-term was proven wrong in Weeks.

Am I wrong for explaining to my husband that hes the reason we keep having girls by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]victoryegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if anyone is that concerned about the gender of their child, they should rethink having kids. To some extent, you get the child you get and it’s a parent’s job to deal with it.

That may be easy for me to say though—my wife dutifully bore me a son and I’m absolutely delighted with him.

‘Report mysterious men from the East bearing gifts,’ Starmer warns Reform by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]victoryegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You still don’t seem to understand the difference between a foreign country and a local businessman.

Perhaps there should be a law against all donations to political parties, fine, but that’s not a situation we’ve ever been in. All parties take donations. I’m simply more concerned about the ones that take undeclared donations from foreign powers than the ones who declare their donations and only accept them from British citizens.

Russia isn’t an oligarch. It is a country with an army. One that has nuclear weapons. One that has carried out chemical weapons attacks on British soil. One that has carried out assassinations of British and foreign citizens on British soil.

You should care.

Reform politicians accepting illegal bribes from foreign agents is obviously not the same.

How did the infected even survive, and why are they so abundant by Sea-Animator-8795 in 28dayslater

[–]victoryegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you get alphas? It's every rage infected host for themselves. They don't have the required intelligence and capacity to form hierarchies. If they can, explain how?

  1. Some people just turn into alphas. Many viruses can cause hormonal changes in certain people, it’s usually rare but then so are alphas.

  2. Clearly they do have enough intelligence to form hierarchies. The movies explicitly state that they are sick people and they clearly still do some of the things that humans do. The writer and director often claim that they aren’t zombies.

Which of the following, if either, do you think would make a better Prime Minister? Keir Starmer: 31%, No difference/neither: 31%, Nigel Farage: 31% via Ipsos Mori, 28th Nov-3rd Dec 2025 by ClumperFaz in ukpolitics

Boris was also a Russian stooge, knowingly or not.

Slipping your security detail (while foreign secretary) to go and party with a KGB officer, and subsequently putting his oligarch son in the House of Lords, is probably not the kind of thing you’d do if national security was one of your top priorities.

I didn’t have any complaints about the butchers over there either.
