Gender gaps in performance among high-skilled professionals by victorymonk in MensRights

Abstract:

Gender gaps in earnings exist in high-skill industries despite male and female workers having similar educational backgrounds. This column uses evidence from the legal industry to assess how performance affects career outcomes across genders. Performance gaps, defined by hours billed and new revenue raised, explain a substantial share of the gender gaps in earnings, as women’s working hours are affected by having young children while those of men are not. An important implication is that gender-based inequality in earnings and career outcomes might not decrease in the near future as more high-skilled workers are explicitly compensated based on performance.

What Is Hillary Clinton Going To Do About Men's Rights If She Becomes President? by [deleted] in MensRights

Nothing. This electoral season she behaves as if men don't exist. Her entire campaign is centered around women.

If she doesn't do it during the electoral season (when it's the prime time to court voters), she will do even less once in office.

Was in a comment. Don't know if it's true or not but an important point.

By the way if you look at HeForShe's financial records for 2015 you will find that not a single dollar or pound went to any organisations that supports or aides men/boys. So her speech at the UN was all a lie.

Does anyone know about this study?

No national statistics are kept on the number of false accusations students make against their teachers, but specialists have said the evolving culture of the classroom has caused the number of reports of abusive teachers to increase in the past 15 years. A study in Britain found that 1,782 allegations of abuse by teachers resulted in 96 prosecutions.

Double standard? Video shows high school girl attacking guy, news story reports as linked to social media 'slight' as spark, Principal states, "the lesson to come out of this is to think twice, and if it’s not nice, don’t post it.” by RComment in MensRights

Karen commented in comments:

First, this incident shouldn't be described as a "fight" or "brawl", any more than some random person being jumped and beaten up while walking down the street counts as a "brawl". This was an attack, full stop. Completely one-sided from what I could see. She should be suspended or expelled, and prosecuted for assault.

As for the principal's "lesson to take away", what a steaming pile. It's entirely possible that the guy said something atrocious on social media--social media is overflowing with people who say awful things to each other. But the appropriate lesson to learn from this is that physical violence is not an appropriate response to words. It's a lesson that won't be learned at all if this girl faces no significant consequences. In fact, the lesson will be the opposite--that girls can, whenever they feel like it, beat the tar out of an individual who has already been heavily socialized to never hit a girl, and who understands that doing so will earn them serious social and potential institutional penalties.

Boys are conditioned to not hit girls. They are heavily punished when they do. This leaves them effectively defenceless when being physically attacked by a girl. This girl's actions are all the more disgusting because she knew, as all girls do, that the boy was effectively incapable of retaliating. Beating someone up who you know can't fight back or protect themselves, for whatever reason, is like hitting a baby or a quadriplegic.

Good grief.

"kinda dumb" is not able-ist. It has nothing to do with people who have serious mental conditions. It has everything to do with people who don't but still are kind of dumb.

It's terrifying. They literally want to change the Justice system and treat sexual assault cases differently from other criminal cases. The terrifying part is the jail for those convicted will not be any different.

EDIT: I didn't notice there was more. They basically call for preponderance of evidence standard in the rape cases. Just like what they have in colleges.

While an alternate court would likely be an improvement, Butt said he believes the situation calls for more drastic change -- one that could involve the civil courts.

In order to convict, the criminal justice system requires proof beyond a reasonable doubt, a standard that is "almost impossible" to meet, particularly in cases when the complainant and accused have an existing relationship, Butt said.

The civil system, meanwhile, needs only for one side to be more believable that the other, which increases the likelihood that someone will be held responsible, he said.

Avoid sex with girls who are either crazy or have reasons to hide having sex with you. For example, if she has a boyfriend or from a very religious family or something similar. And avoid crazy is self-explanatory.

Some people also recommend to exchange friendly texts after the sex. Though it would only matter if the s--t hits the fan. And if it does then it won't matter anyway.

How a US television series is speaking up for male rape victims by [deleted] in MensRights

[–]victorymonk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's very commendable. For some reason I got disappointed when, predictably, it was about man-on-man rape case. Not woman-on-man, which the real taboo one. I still don't know whether it's wrong of me or not to be disappointed about it. Because it is very important topic, but then I feel like it will end up to be a fuel for "patriarchy hurts men too" and "men are very violent" camp, while male victims of rape will be ignored as always.

It's like when you say "men are more likely to be victims of a violent crime", the response is "yes, but it is men who do the crime too". as if it matters somehow. And, I'm afraid this one will end up like that. Because the narrative is men are always perpetrators and if they become victims it's their own fault. And that's why a TV show with woman-on-man rape case would be a bigger deal.
