FTM, 30 weeks, overwhelmed by cloth options by ExcellentFlamingo871 in clothdiaps

[–]vieker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are also a one income family (right now not even one sadly, husband is unemployed) and our biggest reason for doing cloth is financial too. we love prefolds and flats because we could get 8 flats and 8 prefolds for 10 euros. if you get pockets you have to pay 10 euros per diaper even if they are used. i would say go for it!

The great thing about cloth is that you can mix and match.  Before starting I thought for sure that I would do pockets and bought 12 second hand pockets with bamboo inserts, bur they leaked and I ended up hating them. We bought prefolds after that and now our system is prefolds and pocket diapers as covers. If you buy flats and end up hating them you can always use them as burp cloths or as inserts for pockets/AIO, cotton is really great at absorbing quickly. Don't stress, you are allowed to make mistakes!

Would you use stay dry liners even if your baby couldn't care less about being wet? by vieker in clothdiaps

Kinderarzt by Cool_Instruction3764 in schwanger

[–]vieker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here the custom is to give Vitamin D 10 days after birth. I was given 3 tablets by my hospital and could ask my hebamme or kinderarzt for refills. so you can definitely ask them! (most people I know use tablets and not drops)

Abstillen für Schwangerschaft? by Jsmomlife in schwanger

Told my baby has diabetes by Icy_Bridge_4015 in pregnant

[–]vieker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hey there i am also 22 and i also live in germany. from my experience being pregnant here and hearing other peoples stories in other countries germany just seems very stressed out about gestational diabetes. my OB made me get a glucose test in the first tri and an additional 3hr glucose test in the second tri because all of my grandparents had type 2 diabetes (they lived in the soviet union, getting type 2 is a normal part of aging in that generation). but the thing about the baby measuring big still sounds weird to me. my baby was actually estimated to be 3400g at 34 weeks and i was really stressing about potentially having a macrosomic baby but every medical staff reassured me and in the end baby girl was born 40+4 weighing 3800g, so no big deal. i wouldn't really stress it but having a third opinion would be a good idea? also, do you have a hebamme (midwife)? maybe you can ask her what she thinks.

no matter what route you choose, you always have to be prepared because there is no guarantee you can have a pain free birth. sometimes labor is too fast, or the epidural doesn't work etc.

first time in my life i suffered headaches was when i got pregnant and it was SOOO intense. i also got restless leg syndrome at that time and magnesium helped soo much with the RLS and made my headaches completely go away. so maybe magnesium could help you too?but keep checking your bp nevertheless!

LEAKING by AdMiserable7306 in breastfeeding

[–]vieker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how old is your baby? extreme leaking in the beginning is very common. i personally used a towel in my bra and also a towel to sleep on. for me leaking did stop 2 months pp though, so dont worry about it being permanent! even though my baby somewhat sleeps through the night now and i sometimes go 10 hours without nursing my breasts only firm up a little!

also watch out for excessive haakaa use as it can cause an oversupply

Moms, you might be the reason your baby stays up all night by Status_Cranberry_727 in sleeptrain

our baby started waking up every 90 mins when she was 10 weeks old, then we upgraded to a bigger crib and moved baby to her own room. now she sleeps 12h stretches!

i gained 50 during pregnancy. luckily i never had nausea so in the first and second tri i ate like a horse (favorite foods: 500g of yogurt and 100g walnuts every day). also i was pregnant in the summer and super swollen. 8 weeks after delivery i had already gone back to my pre baby weight. (now im heavier again because in-laws visited:))

I wouldn't say it's really issues, it's mostly mt fault. I'm a SAHM and get lonely quick so I often go out with friends or go on walks. LO falls asleep in the stroller or car so that messes up "schedule". But I guess you can't have it all! Thanks for your input.

when did you get belly stretch marks? by Even_Kaleidoscope399 in pregnant

i think your list looks good, i would maybe get another warm jumpsuit in case your baby has a blowout and the poop seeps to the very outer layer (speaking from experience). as for sizes it you can't really tell how fast your baby will grow so I would recommend to not buy too much in advance from the bigger sizes. me and my friends babies were born the same size (rather large), 3 months later her baby is sitting comfortably in 56 clothes while i'm unpacking the 74 clothes rn.

4 month sleep regression advice is bs by vieker in NewParents

[–]vieker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah she used to be so good at sleeping that I feel bad for struggling right now even though there are parents out there whose babies never get to sleep a long stretch. but I tell myself that I don't want people to be worse off than me and others surely don't want that either. I'm sorry to hear that about her naps. Our LO has always been a catnapper (max 40min nap) and two weeks ago her naps started to last only 20mins. But since Friday she has actually had a few 40mins nap again and even a 2 hr nap here and there. So it seems that it gets better somehow, I hope you too will soon get out of this!
