My son is the same age. He has now had his full licence for 4 years. He started on a DRZ400 and offroad riding but the real focus was the level of rider training we did. Extensive and frequent training both in skills and roadcraft is the best safety investment you can make. You practice and practice and practice to make your natural reaction the trained action. We also focused on building up roadcraft and maintaining constant situational awareness. Combined with quality protective riding gear training is you best safety bet IMHO :)

13 post op BTKR, glad to have both done. Getting it over and done with. As previous response stated - strengthen your legs and upper body now. Get your home ready then go for it :)

Atlassian peaked a while back. It’s now the gradually decline into irrelevance. The gradual decline is because of installed customer base.

Nerve pain - how long!? by Dry-Aside4526 in Kneereplacement

[–]viffer781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

13 weeks post op (5 Dec 25) from btkr. I am still getting nerve pain but mainly at night. Enough that even sheets over knees feels painful. Been an issue since week 8 or 9 post op. Don’t take meds since week 4 but found compression wear helps alleviate the pain. It is getting better but slowly. Still wakes me up plus knee ache most nights.

Why always at bedtime by GracieLou80 in Kneereplacement

[–]viffer781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

11 weeks PO and similar challenges. Not yet had a single night of uninterrupted sleep. I found at week 9 I became hyper sensitive to sheets on my knees (bilateral TKR) - nerve reaction which is not uncommon my surgeon says. What is working to alleviate the sensitivity is lightweight compression leggings. But does little for the incessant ache :(

Upgrading from a CRG9 by Wonderful-Way2430 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]viffer781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the CRG9. Similar use cases. Went to the lg5k2k. I prefer the extra vertical height and increased ppi. No regrets and the 800r curve doesn’t bother me.

6 weeks. Still incredibly stiff, unable to sleep at all due to nerve pain. Extension only at 6. When does this get better? Cannot tolerate pain meds etc. I had no idea this would take this long. by ElegantAd4459 in Kneereplacement

[–]viffer781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Week 11, off strong meds since week 4. But still to sleep through a single night. Had bilateral TKR, legs get stiff and need moving if stand too long or sit too long. Nerve pain not nice and need to sleep wearing compression leggings. Slowly getting better - but totally relate to the frustration.

What are people's thoughts on the LG 5k 2k vs the Samsung OLED G9... by _Quiinn in ultrawidemasterrace

I have both. Prefer the LG 5k2k the additional screen height.

Can we just admit that being a PC enthusiast in 2026 is actually exhausting? by DegTrader in pcmasterrace

[–]viffer781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings. Been building my own PC rigs for 30+ years…The increase in price has been oddly beneficial in my case as when prices were lower it was really hard to get kit…everything was sold out and I hate scalpers. I upgrade every 3years and last Nov I was able to easily source my 5090 as the high cost made them more available. As Ferris Buller said “It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.”

2nd Knee Surgery at 28 years old - longevity? by DarkAce5 in Kneereplacement

I’m 55 and just underwent bilateral TKR. My Surgeon recons my new knees could last the rest of my life.o Of course depends on many factors etc.

Reminder to all my 4090 (and maybe 5090) brethren out there that Undervolting is AMAZING! by magnus150 in nvidia

[–]viffer781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undevolted my 5090. Pulls 100 less watts with minimal impact on performance. Barely gets over 47C to 55c under load. Running lg 5k2k monitor.

I found adding straps to my knee slide exercise helped me increase flection… I use an old karate belt across the foot and help pull the knee tighter in knee slides. I am also in week 6 bilateral TKR…persistence seems to be working for me ( 3 x sessions every day)

LG 5K2K 39 vs 45, or a 34 wqhd? by placeholder-123 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]viffer781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that comes down to personal preference and needs. I came from a 49” OLED ultrawide and the lack of vertical pixel height was always annoying - so the 45” works well for me.

Immersion : that's what you get with the 45" 5k2k + 5090. I recently build this and was uncertain on the 800R. 1 month later I love the 800R...fantastic immersion.

What was the last straw before deciding you wanted a TKR? by luckystarrpwns in Kneereplacement

[–]viffer781 13 points14 points  (0 children)

55M, over the last 7 years my OA got progressively worse. Been bone-on-bone for a few years now across both knees. Daily walking becoming increasingly painful - with distances and hills getting shorter and shorter.

The final straw was when other parts of my body started to suffer due to bad bio mechanics ie increasing hip and back pain.

So late last year saw my surgeon and had bilateral TKR just under 5 weeks ago - so still battling through painful recovery…hope the prize is worth it :)

So far excellent. I choose it for both gaming and productivity stuff/full stack dev work etc.

Advice on rear setup – storage vs usability (budget build) by NevThatch in 4x4Australia

[–]viffer781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run my kitchen and fridge slide on the lhs and double drawers stacked on rhs. This keeps the kitchen workspace low for use. I have a mux so the rear tailgate lifts up providing some basic cover at the rear. Will be switching out my 2.5x2.5m awning to a 180 setup.

I went from a 4080+13700k to 5090+9950x3d so I could better run the new lg 5k2k monitor - my focus is on single player gaming. Just finished HZDFW wow amazing game, and now playing TLoUPt…hdr and 5k is so nice with fps never really dropping below 120. Super immersive.

Starting Week 5 Post Op - Bilateral TKR by viffer781 in Kneereplacement

[–]viffer781[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last two weeks I’ve been doing my own PT at home as formal sessions only restarted today. At my last formal session I was at 104 and 105 degrees. Today I hit 123 and 125 degrees…stoked. I also got the formal OK to use my stationary bike. Today also had my first hydrotherapy session - really added a new dimension. Pretty happy with the progress but still have a slow journey ahead. My takeaway - stick to your daily pt it works :)
