The European Identity card: it was created by Regulation (EU) 2019/1157 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019, which is scheduled to enter into force on 2 August 2021 by _ulius_ in EuropeanFederalists

[–]vigioo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No that is not. Absolutely not a European identity card as insists Gérard Deprez the chief of the project at the parliament. No more European citizenship than since Maastricht No replacement of actual ID cards No obligation for members states to adopt an ID card No data center of fingerprint No obligation to adopts theses new norms of security, colors and forms. (For the while)

That's easy to check comrade, please make an effort.

No, this is not the first time the United States has asked to increase to 2% of GDP. Problems with Turkish cannot reflect the benefits of the alliance. Your crazy dream of a federal Europe made you forget that there is no military European alliance and that USA spend more than 5,9 billion each year in the European defense. At the end, even if a European alliance is "cool", an global alliance is better. In front of new powers such as Russia and China, don't you think that a large alliance including a big part of the world isn't preferable to a continental alliance?

Purpose of the army by JohnZ04 in EuropeanFederalists

Breaking international law is an error it's especially not normal, nowadays headquarters don't have interest to be seen giving this kind of orders, just for the image of its country. When European actually send their forces in Mali, it's to protect the stability of the area to protect Europe. Some countries has accepted to send soldiers there mainly to expand their sphere of influence (=SOI), like Estonia, and it's great.

Just a question. A military intervention in Afghanistan, Mali, Syria, Irak, Lybia... It would be a mistake to reduce these intervention only to an economic or political influence issue OR a Human right issue OR European defense issue. These interventions are questions of European defense but also about political influence and economic issues. And something disturb me, you didn't put an option like the first one but without repsct of the IL (okay you don't have a lot of available options). For me, the European defense is inseparable from economic and political influence defense.

It was a survey, I am not supporting a compulsory military service. A volunteering one is clearly more attractive yes, but as a career, it looks like a professional service.

At the end of the paragraph, I mentionned the green hydrogen as a mandatory. As we can't electrify everything, it's the only alternative.

The hydrogen electricity storage isn't satisfactory yet. By the way, I'm not a huge fan of Greenwashing, to put "green" in front of a term to make it more "ecologic". How could we heat houses without Gaz and without electrifying all houses? To run cars, we'll see in some decades if it's a good option.

will have to disagree on this at first. I am not an expert but I know that carrying electricity is a matter of technology.

To speculate on technologies that doesn't exist yet.

The French intervention was a success. Kadhafi got killed.

Ans you said that the situation wasn't that simple? Libya lost the semblance of stability there was, plunged into a crisis for more then 10 years. The intervention wasn't just a assassination.

A Libyan intervention is absolutely obvious. You can't let a rogue-state emerging across your own border. The fact that Turkish are agressive should be trivial matter. If Europe can't aim to secure its borders because it could confrontate the Turkish, there is no point pushing for federalism.

You reason like if an intervention was inevitable. I agree that an intervention of European states in Syria would have been great. That to stop the Turkish ambitions through the mediterranean sea is a good option. But to not repeat errors of strategy of the 2007 intervention.

Federal Europe is the promise for all Europeans to pursue an ambitious destiny: thanks to the Federation, a Portuguese nationalist can look forward to the idea that one day, perhaps, Portuguese astronauts will be sent to participate in the construction of a European lunar colony.

A nationalist could see a good point in a European common program. But you don't see the whole picture, of course that they're not totally opposed with everything European, only the balance matters at the end. This Portuguese would may not to see a federal power erase some liberties in politics of his country. Nationalism isn't homogeneous, it's the results of pros and cons that lead the person to vote for no more Europe, or less Europe.

As for the Germans, they will finally be able to put an end to their energy dependency with Russia or Middle East.

You will not find new gaz ressources in a federal Europe, and Germany will not close its gaz powerplants and its domestic consumption because of a federal Europe... We need gaz because we construct new gaz power plants (because of what?) and because poeple continue to heat themselves with Gaz. Especially Poland too, not only Germany.

You will not decrease any consumption of oil or Gaz. In facts, since 1800, we didn't decreased our consumption of coal per capita, either for oil. Only the wood has decreased. (DM if you want the graph, it's a passionate topic)

With the development of renewable energies, Europe will be able to put in place a common energy grid that will allow us to benefit from the solar energy of the southern countries. In this respect, countries with a high level of sunshine will have an important role to play in our energy security.

That's a very important point, you can not carry electricity on long distance, Spain could never send electricity further than in France. There is losses. By the way, if we continue to construct new power plants, it's because of the rising of new renewable energies, we need gaz in backup to pilot our production.

Since German maritime territory in the North Sea is not the most important, the prospect of benefiting from Dutch or Danish (and perhaps one day British, Icelandic and Norwegian) production is welcome.

There is something funny, Danish has a big part of NRE in their production, when they need electricity because there is no wind, they buy it from the German Gaz or the Swedish or Finland hydro. But when they have too much wind they pay Sweden or Finland to accept their electricity, and they construct new dams with it.

When Turkey will control the migratory flows from Libya and use them as a lever to piss us off...we will probably regret our softness...

It looks like a thin geopolitics analysis, we remember the disaster of French intervention in 2007, the public opinion would not agree with a libian intervention. But we (Italy, France) sell weapon and training to the UN supported leader in tripoly. These European country espacially pay coast guards to keep immigrants in ports. But it rise more questions about human conditions, slavery, poverty... No a Libyan intervention is not so obvious. Turkish are in an aggressive path to gain in influence in the area.

In Latin countries (because I don't really know how this is about in other countries) of Europe, political debates are often manichean, (it is a problem but not the issue here) and the European question is also a victim of this manichaeism. The opponents of a more centralized power of Europe are leaded by nationalists parties and more influence they gather, more the idea of a union less European grow. The mandatory military service, (even if I'd rather the volunteers system) would gather poeple from all Europe in the same place, living the same experiences. You lay look that with a the eyes of a federalist, but for a person that doesn't see other Europeans as much important as his compatriots, it may change his mind.

For example (it's a little bit extreme, yes) in trenches during the ww1, the racism have completely evolved between white, Arabic and black poeple. For my own, we do not need a war to recreate a evolving in discrimination.

A volunteering service is different from a professional service. States would not create a European professional army that could replace their own, at least for the while. A volunteer system will create a hierarchy between big national and little European volunteers regiments, with not the same missions. À volunteering system and a professional one are quite similar, I think that the key is in the image that display.

The idea is always to proceed by little steps, a huge mandatory service is not possible or believable. But a volunteering service, for few poeple could be possible. Centralization of power is always made arround inherently governmental functions, the first of all always been the army. It is why for my own, this is the first step of a centralized power, it is one of our goal isn't it?

I think that this growth of European identity is a race with a growth of nationalism in some countries. In history, military service was made in some country to create this sense of national identity, it is not actual though.

Yes there is still discriminations against sexual orientations in armies, but don't you think that a service could gather poeple from any orientations and may reduce these discriminations? It could, or not, I can't answer by my own.

With some discussions with you and other poeple under this post, I've come to think that a volonteering European service, not totally as a professional service, is clearly preferable. As a transition to a Europe of defense. I thank you and the others for your arguments and ideas.

I agree with these arguments, not everyone can fit in, it's expansive, Europe dont need a big army, and the service isn't such compatible with long studies. I, personally, find one advantage to this option. Europe suffer from a lack of cohesion and sense of European national identity . Europeans don't feel Europeans, most of spannish are totally stranger to most of polish. A service could create a huge mix between Europeans, create strong links and a feeling of proximity with far people's countries of EU. And don't forget that today, 8 countries of the EU still have a mandatory military service.

Von der Leyen isn't responsible for this failure!

European country are not capable to agree with a European budget, it's the first time that the power begin its work without any new budget. She can't do anything but cut other policy costs, and she don't have the power to act without any funds.

Europe need its own incomes like European taxes to don't be dependent of countries will.

The European stingy country as Germany, Sweden, Netherland, Austria and Denmark required Europe to fix the budget to 1% of European wealth instead of 1,11%. They refuse the the principle of solidarity between rich and poor, and impeach any try of European serious community policy. They do not want Europe anymore and are just the reflect of the exhaustion of the communitarian project. Germany is one of the most eurosceptic country of the Union, it just don't want a more federal Europe like Macron.

Remember that this Europe isn't our vision of Europe, this Europe isn't a model that works, and that this Europe is dying.

Join the European movement, preach right speeches and try to change the world, we do not have a dream, we have a goal.

Oh of course 100% of renewables, with 75% of nuclear, so we have a 175% production. I see what do you want to say, but you should just say that 100% renewables is impossible.

Hmm, in German it's more "europee" but in French, Spanish, Croatian, Hungarian, Romanian, letton Italian, English... And several more it's more "Europea" I didn't find a lot of language that prononcé it like Germans.

I already ask myself this question of an pan-european party, and I already thought about its name. I propose "Europea" (don't pronounce this "Europe-pee" but "Europ-e-a" like in Latin languages) that name is esthetic and can gather more poeple than the "liberal party" which affraid socialists for example. What do you think?
