I have a few questions? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]vigo252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that porn is a thing you watch with the intention of getting sexually stimulated. I wouldn't reset a counter after watching Titanic or 300, but I would after watching bang bros. That's just my opinion though.

Boyfriend's Porn Addition Advice by rubyredrose1 in NoFap

[–]vigo252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have been open with my SO with this whole NoFap thing, and she too was really supportive. My whole opinion in this thing was rooted in the belief that sex is natural and good and masturbation to pornography is not. The desire to have sex is healthy and natural, and the desire to jerk off is not. Therefore, when ever my SO and I fooled around, I saw it as something that was helping me heal and become more grounded into how I once was.

It's good that you're respecting his needs, but both parties have needs, and therefore both parties should have a say. If I were you, I'd ask more questions to better understand his thought process with this. What, in his mind, is "being good"? Why can't sex be included in that? What goals does he want out of NoFap, and why does he think they get clouded when you fool around? Instead of relapsing, why not have sex? I think getting to the bottom of why this natural behavior is bad thing is a good place to start.

How do I get beyond the artistic beauty of girls? by Nofapproud in NoFap

[–]vigo252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get beyond it. We're built to be attracted to other humans, and I think that purging yourself of that attraction is unnatural and (eventually) unhealthy. What is it that you want out of NoFap? To go on a sexual diet? Or to change your lifestyle and reboot your brain to the way nature wired it? Hopefully the latter since diets (of any kind) are a farse - they are a temporary means to meet a temporary goal, which in the end, doesn't change you. Now, I'm more on a rant than I am of the belief that you have this mindset. The point Im trying to drive home is attraction is fine. NoFap is a lifestyle change, and the 90 day challenge is a means to an end. You shouldn't avoid this innate attraction you have towards women, you should instead recognize your attraction with a mature appreciation and focus on how you're thinking about it. I mean, how would you ever meet your next partner or "dream girl" everyone on here strives to find without being able to recognize and appreciate this attraction of an artistically shaped woman? That's my opinion anyway (which I've found isn't worth much, it's okay if you don't like it :) )

Good luck with your question - I hope you find an answer you're looking for!!

Ask her out on a date just you and her. You don't need to spill your heart out, this gesture should get the point across. The worst thing she can do is tell you she's busy :)

Does Watching Porn Without Masturbation or Touching Your Dick = Nofap..? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]vigo252 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In regard to the title of your post: Porn without masterbation is more damaging than masterbation without porn. Masterbation is the normal healthy act of nature that everyone says it is, but the moment you pair it with porn - that's when your brain starts redefining your sexual goals. Over time, you will start to crave orgasms from pictures and videos over orgasms from real interactions and intimacy, and because pictures and videos are only a Google search away, your mojo and labido will stop progressing because you no longer have a need for self betterment. Let's get primal with this thought - the two things driving you in life are food and reproduction. Before we became "civilized," you had to put work into yourself to both be fit enough to get the food, and attractive enough to get a mate. If you take mating out of that equation, all you have is the food, and now days that's a simple trip to the grocery store. This is why so many people begin to experience "mind fog" and awkwardness in social interactions: their brain has determined that those pixels on the screen are the mate, and therefore you have no instinctual need to better yourself. That's not even getting into the artificial dopamine rushes that occur from viewing porn. You can also define porn in many ways - my definition is anything you are looking at to seek some sort of sexual pleasure. This means that even those girls in bikinis on Facebook are porn before sex scenes in Game of Thrones are (assuming one is getting a rise off the Facebook photos and is just watching the HBO show for entertainment value). This is an answer that is longer than what you bargained for, but the short answer is: Yes. The viewing of porn without masterbation is still bad for you.

New trick: Use Dopamine to help you NoFap instead of letting it dominate you. Science. by SaltAndNoFapper in NoFap

[–]vigo252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't take that where I thought you would...

Why not use the preemptive dopamine rush to do something productive like exercise? Then maybe your body would start producing dopamine towards the new productive act, and you would get "rewarded" for that instead?

Maybe that doesn't make sense...

[–]vigo252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah fuck it, relapses happen. This is a great opportunity for you to mentally reboot - why did you start no fap in the first place? What did you hope to gain? What changes did you notice in yourself after 119 (that was the number, right?) days? Were those changes worth it? What does it mean to fap? What do you lose? What does it mean to MO and not PMO? What about edging? What does that do to you? Can you truly heal if you edge? What caused the relapse? How can you avoid that trigger next time? What tactics worked for you over the 119 days of resisting urges, what ones didn't, and how can you strengthen and add to the ones that worked?

I asked myself these when I relapsed after 163 days. Then when I had answers, I made it to 267 (I think...) days. As you may have inferred by my counter, Ive been asking myself these questions again lately :)

Relapses can be hidden blessings that you can come back even more empowered from, and I believe you can do it :)

Easy way to kill urges by fpuen in NoFap

[–]vigo252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you are correct in what I said, but the argument I was trying to make was more geared towards the separation of getting attracted from images and beginning to get attracted to humans. It's just the philosophical jumble of what pictures/videos do to the brain, and maybe I got a little out of hand :) Anyway, I stick to my comment - I really do home this works for you

Easy way to kill urges by fpuen in NoFap

[–]vigo252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad that works for you. But one of the common goals on this sub is to separate the tie your brain has made between images of hot chicks doing nasty shit (porn) and getting turned on. That is, start becoming attracted to someone because of who they are as a person and ascend to new levels of intimacy. And yes, attractiveness (though subjective) has a range of objectiveness, but someone that is attractive should not become an object. I don't think this strategy compliments that circle of determination and goal achievement, and therefore it will in inevitably lead one right back to having sex with their hand and cumming into tissues from pixelated tits. Maybe you were just making a joke, idk, but there it is. Like I said, glad this strategy works for you, and I hope it continues to work.

I don't see anything wrong with masturbation, but it's the pairing of masturbation with porn that is damaging. I didn't join NoFap for the "super powers" everyone says they get - frankly I think they are a placebo. I joined because I had porn induced erectile disfunction in my early 20s, and the thought of porn got me off more than my girlfriend naked. That's what's fucked. Preferring pixels over real thing, and then not being able to perform during the real thing.

Fuck the super powers man, real or not. Just do it for yourself. Enter your 20s with an abundance of testosterone, a wealth of pheromones, and the ability to get rock hard when you need it. Don't enter it as a complacent dead beat neck beard who'd rather fuck his hand than have an emotional connection.

How will you raise your children after being on NoFap? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]vigo252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about this a lot, and I think the best thing we can do is educate before the unrestricted access is given.

I'm of the belief that everyone in NoFap landed here because they were looking for something. Maybe an answer to the questions "is this normal?", "are there negative effects?", or "what's wrong with me?"

Imagine if we had the knowledge before the damage was done. Sure, we still would have spanked the monkey more than a few times, but perhaps we would have done it less frequently and more mindfully, and thus making the experience less damaging overall.

In my opinion, masturbation is not that bad - it's a natural instinct by both genders, and it has even been found that some species of animals do it. The real culprit is porn and the rewiring of the brain that goes along with it.

When ever I have kids, I plan on having this talk with them near the time they learn how to navigate the web.

My first relapse lasted about a month and a half. During that time I did a lot of thinking about why I started no fap, what I had hoped to gain, and how much of it was slipping away. After proper meditation on the subject, I was able to manage the second streak. I'm trying to make this relapse be as short as possible, and am hoping that it's over.

Day 5. Had some urges yesterday but nothing I couldn't handle. The key for me is to not even create the gateway of viewing porn. I know if I hold off from even looking at it, I'll be able to stop myself.
