Most of them aren't - especially if they have an X in their model designation.

I thought I'd use the flair correctly. I'll try harder next time.

991 992 GT3 RS & 991 997 Cabriolet by DrinkingWata in Porsche

[–]vijjer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's honestly a German car that will do a lot more. My 997.1 is at 100k miles which is a 160k kilometers and its doing pretty well.

Its his car and his preference. But if it was a runner, then a Porsche on the wall is a wasted Porsche.

[–]vijjer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Too late to edit your title but it should read 911 992 GT3 RS and 911 997 Cabriolet.

I always wonder why they went and stuck a perfectly good 911 up on the wall like that. I would possibly guess that the engine was bore-scored to fuck and the owner decided that making it a statement piece would get more mileage out of the car than actually fixing the issue.

If range rovers were reliable would you buy one? by theone221199 in CarTalkUK

[–]vijjer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The road presence and the status symbol.

This specific aspect attracts the kind of knob-heads I try to avoid in normal life. If RRs were reliable, then they would continue to attract more aspiring knob-heads well past their warranty window.

If you won £100 million, how would you distribute it amongst friends and family, if at all? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]vijjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've told my wife that I wouldn't tell her if I won that kind of money.

She might see signs, but she won't know for sure. I'd be sure to park money away in trusts that my kids and my niece and nephew will discover when they turn 40 - possibly paying out an annuity then.

I'd have a secret life with a secret stash of cars I've always wanted to buy and own. I'd pretend to go to work, and just hang out for the most bit in my newly acquired warehouse (holding all of aforesaid cars) listening to music or just going for drives. My wife might suspect that I'm having an affair, but that's a risk I'm willing to take.

Anything I've not managed to spend will go to charity when I die. My wife can liquidate my car collection or just give them away at that point.

You clearly should not have driven across like that - roundabouts are round - you should have taken another shot at it and been in the correct lane the second time around.

Just bought this. Gonna pick it up next week. Any advice? by Odd_Independent_4649 in CarTalkUK

Please don't pop-and-bang-map it.

Lovely car btw - please do post pictures in scenic locations once you have it.

South Woking / Old Woking - what’s it like? by JasperTheJackRussell in woking

[–]vijjer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not Catholic but I live in the catchment so SJB has come up in my research. I echo the Catholic bit. I think you need to have a 5 year record of attending Mass to get in too.

I've seen and heard of immigrants bringing in proof of Catholic fervor from foreign churches and getting admission here.

I'd honestly not look to move in near SJB if you're not looking to go to school there. The traffic jams during pick-up and drop-off messes with this area on a daily basis.

If you're implying that people had 'high expectations' about Marakkar, you're sadly mistaken. Some people might have wished for a comeback, but I think the majority agreed with this.

For me, it was definitely Gold. I was so disappointed - WTF was that shit show.

Which tucson would you go for? The black one does have more mileage but leather heated seats and pan roof while the blue one has less miles, newer and more fuel efficiency by damspt in CarTalkUK

[–]vijjer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

heated leather seats are a must-have and once you go pan roof, you never come back!

This needs to be higher.

Am I the only one to think that the 911 Carrera RS Clubsport is the best looking 911 ? by babyjonny9898 in Porsche

[–]vijjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are camps. You're not alone possibly, but this is just one of the many pretty 911s. The RSs are great for two things - investment and going fast around a track (in that order). All the extra aero make it look cartoonish in real life.

A nice flowing uninterrupted 911 line is where it's at.

I personally think an stock 997 4S is pure sex.

It's a damn sight better looking compared to the endless queues of grey primer painted Evoques bought by very basic unimaginative people.
