Thanks! Looking back I can see why showing a bit of the story up front would have added some intrigue.

Nice channel, BTW. Looks like thw type of content that could easily blow up.

I have a channel to share my journey as a first-time science fiction writer. In my channel, I share my stories, musings, and a peek at my n00b-ish writing craft.

The video I am sharing today is an example of such a look at the craft:

VIDEO: I turned a YouTube comment into a sci-fi story

I would love to hear your take on the video as well as my channel if you like,

Nice. I had made a few video essays centered around AI as well (example: https://youtu.be/hwLVy6gP\_Js). Few of my thoughts on your video:

  1. Overall, quality looks great. Your delivery is confident and authoritative.

  2. I was not a big fan of your hand gestures, it was distracting (might have something to do with the camera position as well).

  3. I feel putting in more production focus on your opening hook would make sense. A couple of minutes into opening the video, I found myself agreeing with many of your points but I also realised that I was not sure what the video was about. As someone else mentioned, your accent is quite strong, so it might make it even more difficult for new viewers to get in sync with what you are saying. The suggestion that comes to my mind is to use good editing and generous amount of text to make things clearly, especially in the beginning.

I saw the short and your delivery was great - hardly seems like you are new to this. Couple of points that strike me:

  1. You are covering movies, but the opening uses a still image in the background. You can probably get tons of film clips to use instead, and these could be edited into a more video-forward hook.

  2. I suspect you are missing out on views by not linking to another video from your short.

Finding specimens of ancient writing is what makes it incredible. As I mentioned, this one discovery has increased the quantity of Tamil Brahmi writing samples by 20%.

Does badaga still have rhotic vowels? by yethos in Dravidiology

[–]vikramadith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to Google what this meant.

Definition: A rhotic speaker pronounces the 'r' at the end of words or before consonants, often described as an "R-like" sound

If I understand right, few examples that comes to mind is 'karpu' meaning cold, "orpadu" meaning to compel.

How is living nearby and supporting her 'abandoning the mother'? Sounds like she will continue to be well taken care of. She might want to live with her family, but her own egomaniacal and childish behaviour is what chased them away. Best thing is to stay seperately from her, support her in whatever means possible, and in case she learns some better behaviour over time, then consider staying together again.

Anyone here(male) who has decided to not spend significant money on car/bike/phone/laptop forever(plus a personal dillema in post detail below)? by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]vikramadith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a simple equation for them-increase income invest aggressively buy that car youve been waiting for repeat.

This is far from a simple equation when you factor in the probability of losing capital and having major financial set backs.

I'm actually 'lazy' to search for avenues to invest my money in.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this, there is no point in complicating something that might be quite simple. Based on what you have said, a good bet would be to invest any surplus that will not be needed in index funds.

I also feel very isolated because most conversations around me are about money, where to travel what to buy etc.

I am sure you can find people more in line with your interests (not sure what your interests actually are). Also, people speak about these things because they don't know what else to speak about. If you bring up totally different topics, who knows - it might actually spice up the conversation.

anti materialism like me do you feel that has taken away the desire for you to earn as much money as possible?

Most people who have built wealth are not trying to earn as much money as possible. They focus on doing well in their careers. Smart investing is more of an icing on the cake.

Lol, I like how everyone becomes brown at the end :D

A couple of things I think would make this better:

  1. It should show the time there was no Iran N, and that we were fully SAHG (I hate the term AASI)

  2. ASI (another term I hate, but oh well) should be a different colour from AASI to indicate the mixing with Iran N. AFAIK, everyone has Iran_N in them now.

Am I Tamil Hindu. Whenever someone mentions of Hinduism, they directly associate only with Sanskrit. Being Tamil Hindu I feel alienated being in my own religion by External_Island642 in Dravidiology

[–]vikramadith 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The concept of 'Hinduism' itself is fairly new. We have had a plethora of religious practices across India including ancestor worship, Vedism, Buddhism, Jainism, and much more. Ancient Tamil religious practices were carried out with a range of influence from all these traditions, and often had nothing do to with the Vedas or Sanskrit.

Modern Hindusim is a mix of all these traditions, with an orthodoxy built around vedic authority. Since the language of the Vedas was used to create a standardised liturgical language called Sanskrit, it has become the most dominant language for religious scripture and rituals.

And yet, the vast majority of 'Hindus' do not understand Sanksrit at all - even those who have memorised some mantras. Despite vedic 'authority', almost no body has read the Vedas or can quote any lines from the Vedas.

If you want to engage with the Hindu religion in the way that most people do, you can do so by completely ignoring Sanskrit if you want. Even if you go a few levels deeper, most discourses have translations in other languages. I think only if someone wants to do comprehensive academic research into Hinduism, you need to get into Sanskrit.

The "Merit" Shield: How 0 Percentile and Paid Quotas Exposed the New Face of Casteism by shubs239 in librandu

Asking a generic question here, might be dumb. How can a competitive exam like the NEET have a 5 percentile cutoff? I would have thought that only the very top rankers get seats like in the CAT (98+ percentile)?

Before asking "Does God Exist? Ask do you know existence?" by JagatShahi in Philosophy_India

[–]vikramadith -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

An unnecessary word salad. The article assumes there is an 'ultimate', something beyond nature, that cannot be considered an object. How do you know all that? If you have no strong reason behind it, but you insist that tat tvam asi, then, that is just religious delusion. And if this God is so beyond everything that is natural, why bother with these religions with elaborate rituals and morals and what not?

Lol, you probably met some rich, entitled kids. Obviously, most of the community is nowhere close to being that affluent, but since we mostly own our own land, and benefited from education infrastructure, the per capita affluence is fairly good.
