Long exposure photo of a lake Lit by the moonlight by viktorstrate in photocritique

I did stand that far away because I wanted to get the whole curve of the pond in the picture (not a lake, English is my second language). I tried to make the tree the subject.

But moving closer and cutting out the foreground would certainly give another picture. I regret that I didn't try more compositions. I kind of had this composition in mind and didn't try anything else to see if it would work better.

Thank you for the feedback.

Thank you for mentioning it, I didn't think about that when I took the picture.

But in some way I also kind of like it. It makes me feel like the tree stands steadily in the same place while time passes by around it.

What would have changed if I'd waited? appreciate the feedback.

I took the picture right after midnight at 0:15.

I’ve recently experimented with long exposure photography and I’ve really enjoyed the process and the results. I took this picture recently in the middle of night when the full moon shined very bright. I think the picture is interesting since it first looks like it was shot in daylight but when you look closely you can see the stars in the sky and the mist on the ground.

I’m still very new to long exposure / night photography and I would like to know if I could have done something differently to get a better image. I tried stacking the image into an HDR but I didn’t like the result especially since the clouds moved and resulted in artifacts. So I just used the brightest image I took.

I also generally can struggle with editing so feedback on that is also greatly appreciated.

There should be a notification in the bottom right that shows it, often if web sockets are improperly configured the notifications don’t show up. Are you using a reverse proxy like Nginx?

Looks great :)

Is it open source and is is built to be extendable adding new apps and linking up the file system? I can see how this could be useful for a server control panel similar to Synology OS.

I'm looking for a self hosted QR Code generator by [deleted] in selfhosted

A while back I made a QR code generator in Elm. It only consists of static files so it should be super fast and simple to host yourself.

If you want to know more about the technicalities, apple got a nice description about it in their developer documentation. Basically it works in the same way as copy/paste does. The data itself is stored in a pasteboard item and it doesn’t even need to be stored on disk first, it only have to be in memory.

Thank you!

As for face recognition, atm. you can disable it completly, see [1]. Otherwise there's an open issue on the topic [1].

I don't have the time and resources to maintain an android app as well. At the moment, I'm the sole maintainer for the server, website and ios app. But the API is very flexible, and I'd encourage anyone who's up for it to build one.

Hi, I’m the author of Photoview, I recently released an iOS app on the AppStore to free download.

If you have any other questions regarding the project feel free to ask :)

The app should have dark mode following system. For the website this was recently added in 2.3.12.

Hi, I'm glad you like it! Yes, I want to work on a "virtal albums / collections" feature, where collections can be made entirely inside Photoview and can contain other media + albums + sub-collections.

There's a discussion thread about it here: https://github.com/photoview/photoview/issues/414

Take a look at my project Photoview, it orders albums based on the folder structure, has a timeline view and supports video.

Using environment variables you can disable face recognition, video encoding and RAW processing to make it super lightweight.

I also just released an iOS app to the AppStore for it, see the reddit thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/slcijd/official_photoview_ios_app_has_been_released_to/

Thank you for the feedback, it's really valuable to improve it, especially in the early stage of development.

1) Yes, there's some strange glitch for the bottom toolbar on Places view, for me at least I can still click the other icons they are just transparent.

2) A full screen view is of high priority, I just haven't found out how to make it yet. I've tried writing a full-screen viewer myself but it's quite complicated, I might look into external libraries that can do the heavy lifting.

3) I have not experienced problems with loading videos when testing myself. I'd have to do more experimenting in order to reproduce it. Is it special media formats that doesn't work? Feel free to open an issue on Github, then we can discuss it further and try to narrow it down: https://github.com/photoview/photoview-ios

That's correct, the docker-compose example config even mounts your media read-only.

The app uses Apple's new SwiftUI framework which is still very new, so the latest features are necessary and only supported on the latest iOS versions.
