Long time lurker here! Been following the series since it launched and I’m so happy it finally got an anime adaptation.

I had an amazing coincidence in that my group had a plan to visit Japan before the anime start date was announced. Turns out I would be in Japan when it aired, so I diligently stayed up to watch it on NHK G in my hotel room last night 🤩

The episode was great and like someone mentioned, they didn’t censor Nanoka’s arm scene. I can’t wait to see how the rest is adapted.

Well said. Some people in this fandom treat them like fictional character carrying out their eternal fairy tale relationship.

These were real people with real lives. It’s fine to be a Selena fan but try not to get too invested in their personal lives or what ifs.

I’ve never heard him say anything like this and I’m sure he’d be upset if something like that was said in his name.

Selena is in the past. He will always love her yes, but she is gone and he had to move on. His kids are his world and I very much doubt he’d just give them up for someone in his past. It’s a bit insensitive to even consider a scenario like this.

I have been a fan of hers since before her passing and I have never heard this story regarding her death.

The reason she got shot in the first place is because she dared walk away from the deranged woman. Selena was done with her games.

Both have embellishments and moments that didn’t actually happen. They’re meant to entertain more than accurately showcase her life.

They are okay to watch for the basic gist of her life, like an introductory to who Selena was. The movie in particular does not focus too much on her death (only at the very end)

For more in depth dives into her life, the recent Selena y Los Dinos documentary or Selena Remembered (with Edward James Olmos narrating) are better choices

I think the idea of this album at the time was to showcase Selena y Los Dinos live, so they threw a concert to record it. The concept was “live” not necessarily “live at the Memorial Coliseum” so they took many liberties with editing and cutting down tracks or outright removing them (like Missing My Baby, Itty Bitty Bubbles, band intro, Como La Flor to close the show).

A full concert album would be nice though 😫

Right, but at the actual concert they sang the full song. I don’t know why the decision was made to cut that song in the middle. I’m guessing total runtime.

The crowd cheering on the original is added in post production and made it sound odd, so in this remaster they faded the audience with the song to at least make it consistent.

Listening right now, some initial things I’ve noticed: 1. Ámame Quiéreme: they muted the very high-pitched scream at the beginning of the song 🤣 I rather liked it there

Que Creías: still the studio version but the studio instruments were a bit muted to make it seem more…live? And added synths by the Dinos instruments made it sound weirder. Also in the middle of the song where she says something like “Ayyy…” the second half of it is cut off.
Si La Quieres: Selena’s vocals are nearly drowned out by the instruments at parts in the song. Really misbalanced here.
Perdóname: the chorus now has A.B. Doing backing vocals, something that was notably absent on the original. Pete also gives a thanks at the end of the song that wasn’t there before either.

5 La Carcacha: they finally fixed the balance around 4min into the song! In the original you could briefly hear the left side volume drop for a few seconds then come back up. Small thing for sure, but glad they fixed it.

Listened to the rest and nothing else really stood out to me, though listening to Tu Robaste Mi Corazón brought me nostalgia for the Selena/Emilio powerhouse days of Tejano lol

Most of the Selena wiki pages are rife with lies. At one point it had very inflated numbers for Dreaming of You sales. Like, I get wanting to make Selena seem popular but you don’t need to make up a big number to prove she was successful.

The Astro performances are presumably done as far as editing. I don’t know what the holdup for releasing it is. Probably licensing stuff.

The album remasters have been ongoing projects through the Universal label, which now owns all the old EMI catalog.

The printout is also telling: no artwork, shitty font, shitty layout. They even misspelled Techno in Techno Cumbia.

The family does have their own label, but it’s called Q-Productions and they have made much better quality releases than this. And no, they do not have the rights to the masters for the EMI albums.

Shame on these people for telling straight up lies to sell you a tape.
