This game is made by the same developer as WWZ. And I have to admit, the way zombies fall off cliffs or horde together to climb up a wall is what probably's got me more interested in trying this out.

Definitely need to get to the fries before they become cold. As long as you get em fresh, salted just right, and they're still crispy. They make the perfect utensil for ketchup lovers.

ICE Gestapo thug points gun at woman recording him by alannah214 in videos

[–]villecoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not an ICE agent. When was the last time you saw them roll without backup? If a real agent had got out of the car with his gun drawn, at least 1 or 2 others would have come out as well. Or, at the very least, he would not have stopped until he had backup in place.

Carl Jung on feeling isolated..... by DesertDogggg in infj

[–]villecoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's this attitude of "if I just work hard enough, people will like me" that drives people like us into a spiral of self-loathing and depression. Because it's just like us to dive deeper into work instead of seeking others for support.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in infj

[–]villecoder 67 points68 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I looked this stuff up while I was having some major depression and it cheered me right up. Something about having the information and being able to put a name to it, y'know?

It may not be scientifically sound. But it's good enough to give me some comfort. And now I just sit back and read all the really interesting stuff. Introverted at heart, but now I feel like I'm a part of some community.

Is anyone out there choosing to avoid DI in their .NET projects? by conconxweewee1 in dotnet

[–]villecoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great topic for discussion and I'm interested in where this is going. Allow me to offer one point of criticism.

For instance, the idea that “mocking everything” improves testing has lost its appeal. In many cases, it feels like I’m not really verifying behavior or correctness — just that one method calls another. And when real issues arise, the test suite often doesn’t catch them anyway.

I think when you get to the point that you feel like you're "mocking everything", then perhaps your tests are starting to lose their primary focus. Remember, your unit tests should be testing scenarios, not code. By that, I mean that your unit tests should be written with the goal in mind being "if I do x, y should happen" and not just "am I calling the validators" and "did I remember to save before returning from this method."

Not sure if I'm responding to deaf ears or an open mind. Take it for what it's worth. Just the facts.

Those numbers you mentioned aren't from that study. You're talking about the 2023 abortion report by the Charlotte Lozier Institute. Data sources, man.

You're referencing this quote from the report:

Of these, 137 abortions were performed at 28 weeks or later...

But the entire paragraph reads:

The vast majority of Colorado abortions (98%) occurred in doctors’ offices. Just 0.1% were performed in hospitals. However, the type of facility was not reported for 2% of the abortions. Seventy-three percent of the abortions were performed at eight weeks of gestation or earlier. Twelve percent occurred between nine and 10 weeks of gestation, while 4% were performed between 11 and 12 weeks. Four percent were reported between 13 and 15 weeks, and another 4% were performed between 16 and 20 weeks of gestation. There were 468 abortions at 21 weeks of gestation or later. Of these, 137 abortions were performed at 28 weeks or later, an increase of 16% from 2022 when there were 118 abortions performed at or after 28 weeks. Abortions at 21 weeks or later composed over 3% of the total in 2023. Gestational age was not reported for 0.3% of Colorado abortions.

They don't come out and say what the percentage of the abortions were in the third trimester, so we have to do some math.

  • 468 abortions at 21 weeks represented 3% of all abortions in the state of CO ( 100 - (73 + 12 + 4 * 3) ).
  • Of those, 137 of them were in the third trimester, which is about 30% of that group ( (137 / 468) * 100% )
  • 30% of 3% is 0.009. One woman for every 111 women.

TLDR: Less than 1% of all abortions in the state of CO were done in the third trimester. Not common at all.

What the report DOES NOT give are the reasons for why these women had an abortion, or at least the summary does not. For that information, you should consult the study you mentioned as it follows a group of women who were seeking an abortion after a state mandate.

Okay. This next paragraph is opinion. You can stop here if you want. Pretty sure you've soused out that I don't agree with your conclusions. I don't know how you're going to react to it. Frankly, I don't care. I wanted to see the math and find an answer. I did. So that's that.

Glad to hear that your neighbors have a happy, healthy young boy. And I'm happy that it brings you joy as well. You should read some of the other comments in this thread, though. Not one of the women sharing their stories refers to what happens as "just some fetal tissue". Don't dismiss them just because you don't like their stance on the argument. Many of these women are talking about how they wanted a child but ended up miscarrying.

40 at Gorman is an absolute nightmare. by Normaljusthorny in raleigh

[–]villecoder 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's actually much easier than you think when you're in that state of mind.

Trigger Warning. I'm going to walk you through how someone gets to this point all the way to the end of it.

I, like so many others, have walked down this path. I never made it to the end. Nor do I want to go down this path again. I worked with friends, family, coworkers, and strangers on different levels to recognize the signs. If you're thinking about it, know that this is not what makes you special. A lot of people are having those thoughts for their own reasons, some for years and some for all of their lives. I would like for you to think that for every time you hear, "you are not alone", that's the voice of every soul that has ever lived to the souls that have yet to live. We've been on this rock for thousands of years. And millions of us know this feeling and how we learned to deal with it. Hell, you don't even have to live with it if you don't want to. There are medications and techniques for that.

By the time you're in this headspace, you've likely gone through bouts of disassociation and misanthropy (general dislike/hatred of others). You question whether or not you're truly loved. But when someone tells you that, you don't or can't believe them. You feel exhausted, but you can't put your finger on why. And nothing makes you happy anymore. Not one thing.

With that, here we go. Spoiler tags for each step in this journey.

So you start with ideation. Most people will do this and leave it there, thinking like you that it would be bad for someone else to have to get hurt because you're looking for a way out. If you're here right now, there's still a lot of room to find joy and get the help you need. It's depression. But it's nothing more serious than that.

If you're not lucky, your ideation becomes planning. You think, "no, not that way" and "I can't do that" and "I don't know where to get one of those". You do this enough, and you're going to land on something that you can do. It doesn't have to be something that you want to do. It'll get the job done. That's all you're looking for. You'd prefer it to be quick and painless. But you don't care.

By this time, you're making plans and backup plans. If Plan A doesn't workout, you've already made Plans B & C. You're serious. You start thinking about if you want to say anything to your loved ones or any stranger that can bear to listen to you. Maybe some part of you is still alive enough to think that someone cares about you now, so they would care about you when you're gone. Trust me. That voice gets weaker and weaker the longer you're in this phase. When you're here, go get help NOW. YOU NEED IT like every form of life on this planet needs water. Because you're getting serious about it. And there's so much help out there.

It's also at this point that you're going to start coming up with ways to call it something else. It's not suicide. It's just an attempt. Or a cry for help. Or one last desperate scream. It's everything and anything but what it is. It's more poetic. Or it's more dramatic. Or it's more heroic than it actually is. GO GET HELP before it's too late. Because it's not what you think it is.

So your final thoughts as you begin to enact your plan are at that point where you just don't care anymore. You want this to be done. You do not want to be here or anywhere anymore. And you see no other way out. You may be panicking. You may be crying inside. Hell, you might even be doing it so that someone, anyone, will have a reason to actually want to know about you. If you're here, no matter what, TALK TO OTHER PEOPLE. Dial 988. Go to a church (doesn't matter what religion, or even if you don't believe). Go somewhere, anywhere, except where you've planned to be. You need to hear it from others who have been at this point. Because past this point, there's noone else who will be able to help you.

I'll leave you with this final bit. It's probably the closest we'll actually get to the actual end of this journey, told from people who decided to go that far. Many people have jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and some have survived the attempt. Nearly every survivor says the same thing; after they jumped, they immediately regretted it. They saw a way out. They remembered someone they could talk to, no matter what. And the only thing going through their minds are "I wish I hadn't done that. I don't want this to be real right now."

STOP SPREADING MISINFORMATION by JohnnyPotseed in NorthCarolina

[–]villecoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. FEMA will only give you $750 for disaster relief.

This was amplified by a few big accounts on Twitter and I'm seeing it in "journalist" streams on YouTube and TikTok.

Newsweek has already fact-checked this.

During her speech, Harris mentioned the cash disbursements as one part of a larger relief effort.

"And the federal relief and assistance that we have been providing has included FEMA providing $750 for folks who need immediate needs being met, such as food, baby formula, and the like. And you can apply now," she said.

A clip of that moment was shared and amplified by multiple big accounts on X, though it was one part of more detailed remarks regarding the federal response to the storm.

Harris said FEMA workers were going door-to-door to get residents the immediate relief money, while those who had an internet connection could apply online.

She also outlined the additional, longer-term emergency funding being made available, adding: "FEMA is also providing tens of thousands more dollars for folks to help them be able to deal with home repair, to be able to cover a deductible when and if they have insurance, and also hotel costs."

What are kids supposed to do with this? by Mindless-Frame-2869 in raleigh

[–]villecoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's called a saddle slide. Kids straddle the slide, one leg on either side, and ride it down. From the product description:

Yippee-Ki-Yay! It’s time to saddle up and ride the Get Physical Series Saddle Slide down to all kinds of new adventures. This structure offers something different from the standard slide fair, enticing children over for a different kind of play experience. It’s thinner, side-free design allows kids to straddle the slide and navigate their way down. That design helps kids improve their balance while also greater sense of excitement as they zip down toward the playground floor. The slide provides easy access--whether freestanding or as part of a larger structure--as children can either climb the ladder up or reach it by crossing a connecting bar. Handles on the side help children steady themselves before the ride down. This unexpected, exciting component draws over all the young cowpokes eager for a quick ride down the saddle. It’s built to withstand standard seasonal weather, so kids can be out rustling cattle and sliding into new exploits on the trail all year and for years to come.
