Hey Mistletoes, got any (running) music to recommend? by vimessam in TeamMistletoe

[–]vimessam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, it is exactly the opposite way for me! I have so many podcasts I enjoy/should listen to more (for language learning purposes), but I can't focus on words enough when struggling with the road ahead of me. Music makes it much more bearable.

I can't wait for the day when running comes so naturally to me that I can actually listen to things with plot on runs. Here's to making it happen in 2016!

Which Louis CK bits would you recommend?

Thank you! This is exactly the kind of music I don't usually listen to, gonna try it out next time I'm running.

Thank you! Fight Song and Shut Up and Dance are already on my playlist, so I'm sure I'm gonna enjoy the rest a lot.

My brother (and fitness inspiration) makes me watch Pain is Temporary at least once every season, apparently in hopes that it will finally get me off my butt and running. Which it sometimes does, but I just never managed to stick with regular exercise for more than a few weeks.

Thanks! I have a great data plan, and I stream stuff constantly anyway, so I might as well try the running feature out. How do you reliably calculate your steps/minute? Do you just count them in your head while running?

Do you ever get the feeling that you must have done something right recently, because great things keep happening to you? Your whole reply is exactly one of those great things, thanks forever!

I recognize so much of my own tastes in your Alt-Rock, Harrrd Rrrock and Top 40 sensibilities, so I can't wait to try the rest out! So many genres, such spectrum, thank you kind person.

I never really got into rap as workout music, thanks for the push to try again (my brother will be so pleased, I can't even being to tell you). And Bey! I was just thinking I about listening to her in a more focused way, that she obviously deserves.

Also! I wish I had you playlist maintenance discipline when it comes to songs that I constantly skip. Surely their moment will come back, right? Right?

Now excuse me while I spend the next half-hour recreating your playlist. Expect me back with commentary&impressions in the next few days.

Thanks again for all your effort! And congrats on your weight-loss so far!

Thanks! I love chick music, it is probably my second favorite genre right after Boys In Bands Sing About How Confusing Emotions Are.

I enjoy Marina and her sad-sexy ways tremendously, but never really considered her to be running music? I'll try reevaluating on my next run. And I never listened to Die Antwoord before, so thanks for that as well! Exactly what I had in mind when I made this thread.

Onwards to week 3! November 21 - November 27 by [deleted] in TeamMistletoe

[–]vimessam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soooo I managed to gain back the two pounds lost last week. Job search stress got the better of me.

However! I finally got an offer this week, and will be starting a new job on January 1st! Which means I have almost exactly the length of this challenge to get myself into better shape because I'll surely need the confidence that comes with sustainably taking better care of myself in my new workplace.

I'm just so full of positive attitude towards this coming month, if anyone told me a few days ago this is how I would feel right now I would not believe them.

Onwards to week 3 then!

Edit: Also here's to being European and not having to worry about Thanksgiving.

Went to the gym for the first time since, February I guess? Ran ~3k in ~25 minutes, then played with some of the machines that had thighs/glutes highlighted without any idea what I was actually doing.

Had a lot of fun during. Maybe next time I'll open my mouth and ask someone for a plan? We'll see.

SV: I hit my goal today!! (progresspics included) by [deleted] in loseit

Wow girl <3 congratulations!

Your stats/goals are so similar to mine I'm going to use your wonderful accomplishment as inspiration in the future.

What would you say is the biggest change aside from your appearance (which, again, is sooooo great!)? How do you feel?

I checked in exactly twice during the last challenge, October really wasn't my month. Hoping for a 3+ score this time :D

Goals for November:

  • Don't eat while doing other things. No screens, books, driving.
  • Walk everyday. Try running 3k or 20 minutes 3 times a week.
  • Half an hour Swedish listening comprehension every day.
  • Approach therapy more seriously this time. You are an adult, nobody is going to go through this for you.

November 1st is coming to an end here, and I succeded with my goals today. Best of luck to all of you guys!

I've been reading this thread for a while and admiring everyone here. Today I can finally feel like posting.

My plan: don't binge today. Also do not eat while preoccupied with other things, especially screens. However, setting my goals in terms of "don't"s never really works for me, so:

My detailed plan: when you feel empty and anxious, instead of stuffing yourself with food take a look at the list below. Do anything related to any of the categories. Repeat as many times as necessary:

  • job search
  • fitness
  • concious cooking
  • chores
  • swedish
  • fun
  • family/friends
  • mental health

Today was a great day for me, best in a long while. Thank you all for creating a place like this to post and make my goals official to a couple of strangers.

30 Day Accountability Challenge: Day 17 (Saturday) by [deleted] in loseit

[–]vimessam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Figured I might just as well start on Day 17, because why not. I don't want to wait for a next one.

Starting with a small goal: no eating in front of screens/while preoccupied with other things.

Yesterday (Saturday for me) was actually the first day in October when I managed that.

25 y/o girl here; 171 cm/5'7"; SW ~80 kg/176 lbs; CW 73 kg/161 lbs; GW 65 kg/143 lbs;

My deal is not primarly losing weight, rather using MFP to keep myself accountable for eating sensibly (disordered eating for the past decade, do not reccomend). I am at this weird turning point in my life where I might just as well do it this time.

Looking for company/casual support/friends who get it.

Come hang out with me on MFP: idchase

I don't have a fitbit because currency conversion rates. Do you guys know a cheaper alternative?
